One other thing thats bugging me - that shot of them standing on the beach, talking to Aslan with the wall of water in the background... that's got to be at the end of the world, right? I'd be certain of it..... except why is Reepicheep with them? Shouldn't he have gone off in his coracle by now? We know they built him a Coracle prop - we've seen it, it looked awesome - so why has he not used it already by this point?
Good point. Aslan looks great in that shot when he is roaring. It is like now they overdo his facial expressions. It is weird because they did a good job with not overdoing it in the first film and they really did a bad job with it in PC. I am sure Aslan isn't finished though in these shots, so we will wait and see.

So.. I was all hyper, and then I came to this thread and my opinions went down a LOT. Strange the way Narniawebbers do that to you, huh? Just kidding.
Anyway, first impressions - I liked the trailer overall. Maybe it was just the excitement of finally seeing some footage, but it sure does look very.. hmm. Magical? A bit too much so, as in, it looks very wild-and-crazy mystical. I'm not sure how to put it into words. I think the music adds to that effect. It also generally looks quite different from the first two, but that might just be the trailer.
Favourite parts
-The opening (or close to) scene of the painting
-The book of incantations
-The shot of Reepicheep about 1:30 in
-Although I don't like the fact that Edmund's questioning 'if there's no war, why are we here?', I like the fact that they're emphasizing that they're not here to fight wars, but to 'be tested'.. I guess
-The very jumpy Dufflepuds and Eustace
-I kind of like the lilies, I'm not sure.
Least Favourite parts
-"I'm a king" I really don't want Edmund's journey in VDT to be the same as Peter's in PC
-The Dark Island - it's not even dark! And the White Witch's eyes just look weird. I was kind of looking forward to the whole 'dream' thing, but now I don't think I'll like it. I'm pretty sure Edmund is over the White Witch by now.
-Honestly I think Lucy looked more 'beautifullll' before she morphed into Susan.
-RD.. she just looks so.. unreal and glowly and ugghh. She can change into a star at will. Weird..
-Peter and Susan at the end. Not because I'm worried, but because it's so misleading.. and illogical misleading as well, because even if you were to believe that they were in the movie, the whole way through, why would they not be in the rest of the trailer. *sigh*
-The music overall, because it changed the tone of the trailer so much. But it won't be for the movie, right?
So, in the end, I feel.. a bit worse, I guess, about the movie, than I did before.. so.. maybe I shouldn't have been excited about watching it.
Still can't wait for December though.

"I'm there through your heartache, I'm there in the storm.. I don’t care where you've fallen, where you have been, I'll never forsake you, my love never ends, it never ends."
-Times, Tenth Avenue North
The scene with all the Pevensies at the end might be something like-- Lucy and Edmund are told they can't come back--then Susan and Peter appear--they all have a nice moment--then they all disappear into the waves/sunset/whatever Idk...
I wouldn't really like that because Caspian is there too and I don't want to see Caspian's and Susan's reactions to seeing each other again. Suspian is dead and it should stay that way in the movie too. Plus Caspian is starting to fall for RD and Susan is going through the phase of believing that Narnia is all a game. I hope they are flashbacks or a tribute scene to the four Pevensie's that had to say farewell to Narnia.
Long Live King Caspian & Queen Liliandil Forever!
Jill+Tirian! Let there be Jilrian!
They really did a great job with the transition between it looking like Lucy and then it looking like Susan.
I enjoy that Eustace is on the deck sputtering when Reepicheep is saying your majesties.
The dark island can't be dark or we wouldn't be able to see it.

Initially the trailer really suprised me because it was so different to the previous two, in terms of style and look. I was expecting a lot of drama and really epic music. The trailer, for me at least, is really uplifting and hopefull. They are going to present VDT differently, as the film makers are making an original film. In the super saturated fantasy film market VDT, for me, stands out at the moment as something unique and beautiful. There is very little over the top action and heavy music. This is not what I expected, but it is fantastic. Watch in HD on the official website and the CGI is impressive. I have confidence in the film makers and they will produce something wonderful. This is only the teaser trailer- they are not going to give everything away straight away- this is not Disney with PC.
I think a teaser is not about giving away the story, but just enough to get people intrigued and start asking questions that only the film will answer. I think this trailer is intriguging.
I'm disappointed that the first viewing we get of the teaser isn't even in a good resolution, let alone available in HD. That's a big mistake. Hopefully a HD version will arrive soon.
- Edmund trying to enlist in the army, talking with Lucy. Looks good.
- Lucy, Edmund and Eustace looking at the Dawn Treader painting coming to life and flooding the room. I love this scene and how they interpreted it. Some of the CGI seems a little underdone (but that's usually the case in teasers).
- Swimming to the surface as the VDT approaches. Being taken aboard the VDT. Very fantastical and magical. Works for me.
- Aslan with Lucy. He looks smaller than he should but it's a good scene.
- The VDT sailing.
- Minotaur and Reepicheep aboard the VDT. Minotaur looks like CGI but not that bad. Reepicheep looks great. He doesn't sound any different from Eddie Izzard's version.
- Merpeople look um... watery.
- Caspian showing them his ship and Edmund sighting the Dark Island. Should be more ominous but the CGI is probably just incomplete.
- Coriakin unrolling a map. Of what? The Lone Islands? Nice library.
- Eustace peering through a gap.
- The White Witch tempting Edmund at the Dark Island. The CGI here is very underdone and needs a lot of work. It's not the least bit creepy.
- Lucy with the spell book in Coriakin's library. Very cool. I don't understand or like the CGI snow. What's up with that bit?
- Reepicheep climbing to the top of the VDT's mast to scout as a lookout. Love this.
- Nice shot of the VDT ship and it sailing.
- Ramandu's Daughter giving them the wrong message. What's with her looking all B-movie-ish. The glowing girl doesn't do it for me. I hope there's much more CGI to be done on this one.
- Edmund with Rhidon. The sword needs some more CGI work.
- Ramandu's Daughter changing into a star? A bit cheesy-looking.
- A faun fighting some men. Probably when Caspian and the others take back the Island from Gumpas.
- Lucy with a bow and arrow.
- Coriakin camouflaged against his library. Nice!
- Eustace with the Dufflepuds. The garden looks great but the Dufflepuds a far too jumpy or awkward, or something.
- The lily-covered waters look good, Reepicheep at the help. Awesome!
- The trio and Reepicheep with Aslan. I'm guessing the waters have been pushed back ala Moses and the parting of the Red Sea. Looks good to me!
- Susan and Peter in Narnia clothes? Um. I hope this is a flashback. Hmm... no it's not, Lucy and Edmund are also there.
The teaser trailer was good but without context it's difficult to critique it fairly. Personally, I was a bit under-whelmed by it all. I know PC was considered dark and violent by some but it seems VDT has swung the other way completely. That's not necessarily a bad thing, since VDT is more an adventure of discovery and redemption than anything else. I just hope that a lot more work is to be done on some of the CGI.

Agreed with Ramagut! And come on, it's not that bad!! Quite frankly I'm in love with it already!
- The movie does seem to have a bit of a British feel to it, which is definitely a good thing. [Remember the "Oh my Gosh he's so cute!" Americanization?]
- Lucy looks gorgeous and her character seems spot on once again! Henley IS Lucy.
- Edmund seems to be given quite an important role in the movie. Not sure how I feel about this, but I'll probably be delighted about it. Skandar is, as usual, terrific.
- Caspian and Eustace are notably missing. Pity, really... Not worried about it though Eustace btw seems spot-on!! Really happy about him.
- Reepicheep looks awesome! 'Nuff said!
- The mer-people, Ramandu's Daughter, DT crew, Dufflepuds, Coriakin, Silver Sea, Magician's House... all fantastic!!
- The Dawn Treader = PERFECTION!
My Complaints:
- Aslan looks... tame... like a... kitten
- The "fate of Narnia stuff" seems to be there... ugh!!
- Jadis -.-'
- Susan and Peter. Not really a complaint... just what on earth?!
Anyway, a very good teaser in my opinion.
Even if you don't believe in God...
He still believes in you.

Caspian should not be on Aslan's country. That should not happen. Maybe he gets pushed back by the water. Wait there are four shadows. That is weird.

Facebook doesn't do HD as far as I know. They posted it HD everywhere else. YouTube, the official site. I thought we linked it in our news story, but I'm too tired to go check.
HD Trailer
Ramandu's Daughter is going nuclear.
Thanks fantasia_kitty!
I find it surprising that Lucy wants to look more like Susan. If you ask me, she's more beautiful.
Narnia_Maniac, how is Aslan portrayed like a kitten?

I agree that Lucy looks more beautiful then Susan. Everything that I've seen so far of Susan in VDT, she always looks mad or jealous about something. Lucy is definitely the beauty because of her pure heart and she is pretty, just very naive about it. She needs confidence in herself and she'll find it in this movie.

The CGI is terrible throughout, but the shots are probably unfinished. The CGI looked bad in the first LWW trailer too...
The whole thing is very HarryPotter-ish
...I'm hoping this is just a bad piece of marketing, and not an accurate reflection of what we can expect.
OK, critic mode time. The entire feel of the trailer was entirely different from the first two. I'm having trouble putting my finger on it, but it looks like either the budget cut seriously negatively affected the movie, or I'm having trouble getting used to the digital filming. The trailer, perhaps, looks too clear? - Kind of like a handheld recorded home movie? Perhaps when I see this trailer in theaters the pictures won't look as cheap. The reason it is so bright may very possibly be because 3D glasses darkens the audience's vision, so perhaps this trailer was intended for 3D audiences primarily.
The style of the film is very different, and I put my finger on it, it reminds me of Harry Potter. -And apparently, I'm not the only one who thinks so.
OK, with that said, now for the scene by scene:
I like the opening scene, but it looks like Ed is in withdrawls from being a king. *sigh*
The painting doesn't impress me...at all. But, does anyone else think that Lucy looks a lot like Susan in this scene? Nice make-up and hair.
Aslan looks very cheaply made. I hope they fix this in the months to come...
Is that a mermaid? Because it looks more like a naiad to me... I hope it is. Narnia has suffered from a lack of naiads so far.
"You are all about to be tested"??!!?? I see that Apted truly does see this as a movie about temptation, but it seems to have gone a bit far...
And Ed would never again be tempted by the Witch. He of all people should know of her treachery. However, it does seem like the Witch *sigh* is in Edmund's dream, not Lucy's like I've been insisting. It makes no sense that it would be Ed's dream. Who was it that suggested it would be his dream anyway?...
I don't like the cover to the book of spells. Why should the letters move? Looks like a waste of money to me. They could have spent that on making Aslan look better.
-The transition between Lucy and Susan in the magician's book, on the other hand, is very nice, although it looks a tad unfinished.
The snow, Reep, the ship and the island look great.
Ramandu's daughter...not so much. The actress looks great! Her turning into a flaming ball of gas, not so great. I also thought that Narnian stars were always in human form, you just couldn't tell from a great distance, -all you could see was their light.
Ed's sword is glowing blue. Orcs must be near.
The faun is one of the few things in this trailer that actually looks normal! Thank goodness for that.
The magician...looks so young...
The dufflepuds look terrible!!! This is barely a step up from having short men jump on a trampolien behind a hedge! The dufflepuds aren't even interacting with Eustace in this shot. Eustace clearly looks behind him at a Dufflepud which isn't there, when a Dufflepud that is there is bouncing right in front of him! The Duffers don't even look like they are bending their knees in order to jump. They look like they have pogo legs or something!
Rowing through the lillies looks fantastic! Very much like I imagined it...except...WHAT IS CASPIAN DOING IN THE ROWBOAT?????!!!!!????!??!?!?
The wall of water: OK. I imagined it higher though.
The four Pevencies part confuses me, although Ed's beard is interesting...
The Aslan at the end of the trailer looks much better than the Aslan at the beginning.
And finally, I love the end title; a good way to tie the movies together yet stay true to the story of Dawn Treader by not showing the mountains of Narnia. Dragon scales. Interesting...
OK, now to compare my prediction with the actual results (Correct guesses are in bold):
0: Company Logos (Given)
1: Trailer will probably begin with a crane shot of Cambridge.
2: A voice clip from Lucy &/or Eustace seems likely.
3: A shot of the painting, followed by a shot of water flooding out of the painting.
4: A shot of the children floundering in the water and then one of them being pulled onto the ship.
5: A short dialogue with Caspian & Reepicheep establishing the reason for the voyage overlaying a series of shots from other parts of the movie.
6: Some sort of inspiring comment from Lucy.
7: A series of disjointed shots overviewing the entire film.
8: A few shots of Lucy with the magician's book with quotable lines about the voyage.
9: A few end-of-the-world clips with a glimpse of Ramandu's daughter.
10: Montage of clips showing the most exciting parts of the movie, including a dragon attack & the sea serpent.
11: The end title with the music: "dun, da, da, dun, dun, dun; dun, da, da, dun, dun, dun; DUN, DA, DA, DUN, DUN, DUN, DUN!!!"
10-1/2: Aslan roars.
Hmm, I got my guesses mostly right. I was a bit wrong on the details though.
This trailer seems a lot more lighthearted than I thought it would be. Perhaps this is intentional after the "Darker, grittier" Prince Caspian.
Well, we've finally seen some footage. Let the debating begin!
Movie Aristotle, AKA Risto
After watching that, I am convinced the movie's going to be amazing!
I really love the details they included from the book - like Lucy waving to the Mer Girl. Oh, and the Dawn Treader is absolutely spectacular! So is the Magician's House! So is everything else! Gah, I need to go watch it again...
Spelling Nazi, at your service.
Avatar and signature are my own - will make Narnia graphics on request.
Wow....I've forgotten how picky the uber fans are.
I thought the trailer was fantastic! I think the world looks beautiful and it seems to have the added air of whimsy that PC was missing. I need to wait for the full trailer before I can get a better idea of where the script adaptation is going but so far it seems there is no inner purist for me to release. I thought there would be as VDT is my favourite of the books....but nope! However, there was no Gael in this teaser. I think she could make or break the movie for me. Dunno why. But I feel prejudiced against little girls who may or may not be annoying.
Anyways....thumbs up for pretty much every frame in this trailer. Even glow-stick star girl. Why don't people like glowing women? lol! I guess some people do...the filmmakers do it seems!
