Welcome back Katy! Good to see you again!
I hope you like Deas Vail's new album as much as I do. I think its phenomenal. The best part is that I got all my friends to listen to them after we went to the DV/Mae concert together. Do you have a favorite track?
I listened to The Almost's album, but they're just not really my style. I only buy music that I love, and I like the Almost, but I don't love them.
I am currently catching up with Skillet's older CDs and I think they are amazing! I just finally got "Hey You, I Love Your Soul" and before that I got the first CD which is self-titled "Skillet"! I really like those CDs!
Agreed. Anything Skillet is pure epic awesomesauce. To say the least.
Yeah, I'm a Panhead. (NOT a Skilletfan. There is a HUGE difference. But I'm sure no one wants to get into that just now... ) I have all the CDs but the first two, which I listen to on Skillet's myspace regularly.
I agree, Lark! The guitars are awesome in Mess Of Me. Lol, they have a ridiculous number of comments now because everyone's just basically carrying chat convos in the comments. It's like double since I last looked.
Today has been kind of a really crummy day and I just opened up last.fm and started playing some Owl City that I hadn't heard before. Sheesh, this stuff just forces you to be happy. I think I am in love.
Aw,I'm sorry MissA. Glad to hear Owl City brightened your day though. I've heard of them, and my friend likes them too,so I'll look them up tonight. lol That's funny about the comments doubling. I think it's pretty much almost over by now isn't it?
I bought Over and Underneath today!! It's amazing! Even better than I expected! I like all the songs, but I really like "Lift Us Up to Fall" "Break Me Down" "You Are" "Let it Go" and "Satisfy." I had never heard those four songs before. I'd heard the rest before. "Lift Us Up to Fall" is my current favorite.
4 more days 'til the new "Switchfoot" CD releases and 13 'til the new "Cating Crowns" CD does!! I'm so excited!!
YAY!!! You bought it!!!! Isn't it sweet how every single song on the album is good? None of them are bad. It's great to be able to listen through the whole thing and not have to skip songs. Break Me Down is one of their more upbeat ones, very catchy, ^^ they really get the audience involved in that one at their concerts
Hehe, do look up Owl City. I have Kate to thank for telling me about Fireflies when it was the free single back in the summer. It's crazy that it's #1 on iTunes now.

Aw, I'm sorry you had a bad day! But that's great that you were cheered up. *now feels like listening to Owl City.* Which songs would you recommend, Kat?

Well, I'd ask Kate for recommendations, she's the Owl City expert, but some of my favorites are Hot Air Balloon, Strawberry Avalanche, Vanilla Twilight, Fuzzy Blue Lights, and of course Fireflies. (wow, the Fireflies video has 10 million views on youtube now. I suggest watching it though. It's so creative and cute!) Oh yeah, and The Bird and the Worm has Matt Thiessen doing background vocals. It's kinda hard to tell it's him though.
I've listened to Fireflies now, and the first part of "....Seattle...?" Not sure what the rest of the title is. I had to use a different computer--the one I'm on has no sound working. But yeah. I really liked Fireflies! I listened to it twice. It's really fun!

Well, this will definitely come out of left field, but my two favorite types of music are soundtracks and Classic Rock. Also popular music from the 60's through the early 80's. My youth pastor dubbed me a "throwback".
Anyway, a list of some of the groups I like:
Boston
The Beatles
Creedence Clearwater Revival
Foreigner
Journey
REO Speedwagon
Rolling Stones
Heart
Huey Lewis and the News
Billy Joel
Fleetwood Mac
Kansas
Chicago
Survivor
Toto
The Byrds
The Eagles
Doobie Brothers
And many, many more.
Now, most of these artists or groups I only like a select few of their songs. Some, though, I like enough to buy a whole album of their work.
Is there anyone else here who likes this type of music?

I know! I hate having to skip songs. I've probably played the whole album at least five times.
PrinceCor:My dad likes Boston. I probably heard a song or two of theirs when I was younger, but I haven't heard them recently.
I've listened to The Beatled since I was three or four!! My grandmother let me listen to them when she babysat me. I like "Love Me Do" "Yellow Submarine" and "She Loves You."
The only REO Speedwagon song I've heard is "I do' wanna Know"(I hope I spelled that right...) My firends made me listen to it, and I really like it.
I haven't heard of most of the other groups you listed though.
My sis went with me today and she bought the new NEEDTOBREATHE cd. It's really good! I really like the song on there called "A girl named Tennessee."

Ah, your list brought back lots of memories! I like selected songs from those groups as well. And to date how old I am, Boston's debut self-titled album, released in 1976, was a staple in the "stereo wars" in my college dorm days.
I also like some of the Moody Blues from those days ("Nights in White Satin/Late Lament," "I Know You're Out There Somewhere," "In Your Wildest Dreams"), Alan Parsons Project, and much of ABBA's music from the same era, and, for something completely different, the parodies of "Weird" Al Yankovic. His takeoffs on the Star Wars and Spider-Man movies are classic.
I also like some of the later stuff from the Second Chapter of Acts (specifically, their Hymns collections), along with Robin Mark's Irish worship music. Celtic music in general fascinates me too.
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
My favorite Owl City tracks are the ubiquitous "Fireflies," "The Bird and the Worm," "Hot Air Balloon" (which is actually my iTune's most played track), and "Rainbow Veins." His songs really do exude joy.

Ah PrinceCor, a guy after my own heart. I love classic rock and soundtracks as well, although I have a very eclectic taste ranging from mellow and folksy—think older Bebo Norman—right through to really edgy stuff such as Haste the Day, my favourite hard band: good words, excellent melodies (when they're not screaming—I'm not as fond of that ), and great voices.
As with stargazer, PC's list stirs abundant memories. I've never been a Beatles fan (please don't whomp me ); of your list Chicago would definitely be top 'o my list (I do with this clapping smiley has more "oomph" to it). Various others (Billy Joel, Fleetwood Mac, the Eagles, the Doobie Brothers) have a place in my Thumbs Up musical taste as well, although, like you, I am selective as to which songs I listen.
Right up there with Chicago, 'though a very different style, is The Carpenters. To me, Karen's voice envelops all I love in a female voice—it's rich, warm, heartfelt, and so natural. Every time I hear a song by her I ... melt.
I also fondly remember Bachman Turner Overdrive, Captain and Tennille, Bee Gees,The Beach Boys (man, I still can't get over their crisp, tight harmony in their such-fun-songs!), Steely Dan, Simon & Garfunkel, The Guess Who, among others. A band I have recently come to like, even though they've been around for a long time, is Led Zepplin. Again, I'm picky as to which songs I take in, but wow, such fantastic instrumentals! I'm listening to "When the Levee Breaks" right now and whoa!
As gazer mentioned, Second Chapter of Acts is a favourite. I recommend any of their albums, but I have a special fondness for "The Roar of Love", the musical story of ... The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. In the same vintage is Phil Keaggy, who truly must be one of the top guitarists in the world. There is nothing like seeing him perform live!
Now, soundtracks : they quite stir one's emotions like little else, especially in relation to the stories they are enveloping. All time favourite (betcha can guess): The Lord of the Rings Complete Recordings. I'm gradually building my soundtrack collection up: next to purchase is one of the Harry Potter CDs. Not sure which is the best, though. *pops over to the Soundtrack thread to ask*
And, again, very different from anything I've mentioned above, I dearly love old hymns, obviously for more than just the music.
*sigh* Pardon the length: it seems I am destined forever to write long posts.

Having bought first single off their next Cd I have listened to it enough to know I love the song already.
I have been listening to their other songs I have on my iPod.
Today I decided to bring my three Switchfoot CD's to work and listen to them all to see if anything I overlooked would be pleasing to me.
Beautiful Letdown
Nothing is Sound
Oh Gravity
those are the Cd's I own and I am just in the first at the moment.
Unfortunately I left my PC soundtrack at home so This is Home will have to wait until I get in my car with my iPod. (though I did hear it on my way to work this morning).
I already pre-ordered Hello Hurricane as well.
So far I think Beautiful Letdown is there best Cd but I have high hopes for Hello Hurricane as I saw the effort they put into it, saw a video which alone wowed me. so we'll see...
I haven't heard any pre-BL of theirs so if anyone knows any older good songs, please recommend.

I've listened to all of those: along with "Hello Seattle" and "Vanilla Twilight". My favorite so far has been "Fireflies"--I love it.
