I am so mad at myself. I didn't check my email for a week. When I finally checked it, I had an email saying Tenth Ave had a limited time offer free download of Beloved, acoustic version. But the time was already up.

winterlife I can email you the song if you want...I downloaded it...or I don't know if I can PM it to you...
I like some of Matt Maher's songs. Alive Again is a particularly good song!
I went to the Owl City/Deas Vail/Lights concert last night! It was amazing! Deas Vail was sort of hard to understand at times, and I kinda wish they had turned Wes' mic up, but it was still awesome! Deas Vail played Birds, Atlantis (my fav!), and a few others that I don't remember the names of ( ). Then, in between Deas Vail and Lights, they played some Relient K songs through the speakers. I think Lights had the best voice live, she was really amazing. She sang February Air, Drive My Soul, River, Ice, and (I think) The Listening, it seems like she sang more, but I'm not sure. Owl City was awesome, as well! Adam was more active (moving around on the stage and dancing) than DV or Lights were, which made it even more fun. He sang The Bird And The Worm, Dental Care, Umbrella Beach, Fireflies, Meteor Shower, The Tip of The Iceberg, Vanilla Twilight, Hello Seattle, On The Wing, The Saltwater Room, and Hot Air Balloon. Wow, he sang a good many...
Anyway, if anyone has an opportunity to see any of them live, I highly recommend they do so!

HelloHurricane: Wow, sounds really cool!!! I'd only be interested in seeing Owl City live probably... Neat that they played RelientK inbetween as well.
Our internet quit for a while, so I was absent... I missed a few pages--sorry about that.

That stinks winterlife! I hope you can get it somehow!
Wow, HelloHurricane, that sounds like an amazing concert. I would have loved to hear any of those groups live. I seem to be one of very few people on here at least who like Lights
Lately I've been listening to Barcelona's album Absolutes. Barcelona (the one that toured w/ RK last year-apparently there's another group w/ the same name) is pretty awesome. They're just really really good indie rock, they sort of remind me of a lot of other artists who I've recently grown to like (Copeland, Deas Vail, Mae, Paper Route, all those guys.)
Anyway, I love their song Please Don't Go. So, so beautiful... check it.
HelloHurricane: cool for you though words can't describe at the moment how jealous I am ...the only one I didn't care about seeing was lights, but Owl City and Deas Vail are two of my favorite bands...*sigh* you are so lucky...and that's so awesome about RK songs being played ....
Kat: I heard Barcelona at the RK concert I went to and I liked their music sound but I didn't hear any great lyrics. Besides the fact that in between songs they talked about some pretty stupid and random things
I'm so glad I finally bought Hello Hurricane! I already had like all the best songs on it, but I'm glad to have the rest- it's a great album! The only song I don't like it Enough To Let Me Go...
Yeah, Barcelona isn't a "Christian" or even "pseudo-Christian" band, but most of their lyrics aren't bad, so I don't mind listening to them.
Wait a second. You don't like Enough to Let Me Go? That is my favorite on the whole album. It's sort of different and catchy, and I love the acoustic guitars...
I don't know...maybe I'll listen to some of their stuff later...my parents already give me a hard enough time listening to bands that aren't so "open" with their Christianity...so if Barcelona isn't really Christian at all, they probably wouldn't like them...
No I don't like it at all, I can't believe it's your favorite, with all the great songs on the album...I find the tune really annoying...*shrugs*
Fireflight posted on their FB feed that you can download the title track to their new album for free on amiestreet.com. I downloaded it and it sounds pretty good.
I'm sorry you don't like Enough to Let Me Go! That's one of my favorites.
I liked that song Kat! (I LOVE your avie! )But I doubt my parents would like that band either, like GTG's parents.
Right no, I am obsessed with Please Don't Call It Love & We Ride by Fiction Family. By the way, I found out that We Ride is about surfing. Deep stuff!

Anyway, I love their song Please Don't Go. So, so beautiful... check it.
I like their sound. This song is really, really emotional..
For some reason the singer's voice reminds me of Jon Foreman's...
Speaking of which.. Switchfoot is playing in less than 3 hours, less than an hour from here. Ah.. I'm not a huge fan, but it still would've been awesome to go. If only I'd found out earlier..

Bookwyrm: thanks for posting that link! I downloaded the song but I haven't listened to it yet...maybe later today...can't wait !
TP: yeah I just don't really connect with it I gues...I don't really like Yet either...it has a nice tune but the lyrics don't mean much to me...
The lyrics to Enough to let Me Go I think are awesome... it's about how love requires sacrifice. Actually I'll just let you read what Jon says about it because he puts it so well:
This one started with the guitar hook I came up with during sound-check; however, most of the song took shape in a hotel room in Australia. I was thinking about how love (not just lust or codependency that commonly flood the tunes on the airways) actually involves quite a bit of faith. There's a lot of letting go involved. Two souls in love is an intricate dance of give and take. I can be a fairly solitary person from time to time. Sure, I love being with people, but I also need time alone. I guess I thrive on the poles. So this song is about the dance involved in a relationship the coming together and letting go. The song equates love with breathing- pulling in and releasing. Or a seed, for the seed to grow it has to be dropped and buried.
In our barcode media, love is often portrayed as consumption. As consumers in a commercial driven culture we can begin to view other souls as objects, or potential cures for our deepest fears and insecurities. "Perhaps if I found the right lover I would no longer feel this deep existential despair." But of course no human soul could be the Constant Other, the face that will never go away. Only the infinite can fill that role. But the silence can be deafening. It's a fearful thing to be alone. Do you love me enough to let me go? "I can't live without you"- "I would die if you ever left me"- These are not the songs of love, these are the songs of consumption.
Anyway.
About Barcelona, their lyrics aren't really any more secular/less Christian than other indie rock bands that people tag as Christian. Sooo.... it's up to you
wow he writes prett eloquently *is impressed*
the thing I don't get it about the song is why do you need to let go "do you love me enough to let me go"...where? to do what? why? I believe good, solid, Christian love relationships should last a lifetime. You shouldn't have to let the person you love/are married to leave you...do you understand what I'm saying? I just don't understand what he means by letting go...same thing as in Yet. She hasn't lost him to what? She shouldn't be about to lost him to something...*sigh* idk...
Hmm maybe I'll listen to some of Barcelona's stuff later, but at the moment I have alot of new music so not just yet
