Yeah, I fall asleep to pretty much any kind of music too. ;)) I've fallen asleep to Skillet, along with pretty much anything that happens to be playing on the radio when I'm napping in the car. ;)

Ahhh... X( X(
I thought I'd posted to this thread last night, but it's not there.. :((
I'm not in a mood to rewrite it.. so a couple of things I can remember writing:

Forget and Not Slow Down is good, I don't love it yet, but I might in a week's time. My favourites are probably I Don't Need a Soul, Therapy, Over It and If You Believe Me. Possibly the final two tracks as well. When I first heard Sahara I really disliked it - now that I've listened to the lyrics a bit more I like it a bit better, but.. I dunno. It's too heavy, which is weird, because I've not opposed to 'heavy' songs in general.. (although my standard is probably different to the correct definition) I just don't like RK's 'heavier' songs, like I Need You, that much. :-s I don't really like Savannah, but I don't mind listening to it while listening to the whole album through. Candlelight is a nice, light change from the rest of the album. The song I really don't like is Baby. I know, it's, like, 46 secs, but the beginning jut really annoys me.. :p

I tend not to fall asleep with music playing because I'm picky about my play count :p but I play music in bed, usually, and stop it just before I'm about to drop off. The other day I fell asleep to the PC soundtrack though. It's really unnerving to wake up hours later and register the same music that's been playing all night.

narnian1, that's really creepy - those three CC songs you mentioned are the three I fell in love with straight away. :p Could you possibly recommend some more? :)

(which SHOULD be out at the beginning of 2010, according to the guys, but I haven't heard anything new about it )

This is the beginning of 2010. :p I can't wait..
But I'm guessing it won't be happening at least until they're done with 'the story of TAN' on their website, and they're only halfway through. Because 'volume 10' is 'the new record' or something. *sigh*
Thanks for the Anberlin recommendations, by the way. I'm going to listen to them when I've got some time.

Avie by flambeau.

Aslans Country, hmm, that's odd... I usually don't like "rockier" stuff but I really love those two songs (I Need You and Sahara). I think the backing vocals in Sahara are superb!! Plus it's one of the more spiritual songs on the record. But, to each his (her :P) own.

Ok, so WinterJam . . . it was a little over 2 hrs away, and we had some other stuff to do before we left so we got there after the preshow started. I went w/ my mom and a friend. We missed Revive, who apparently was good (says one of my friends). And then Sidewalk Prophets was just playing their last song when we got there, The Words I Would Say. They sounded good live, from what little I heard. Anyway, the whole idea of no reserved seats and $10 at the door is a baaad idea. I tell you, the line to get into the building was LONG!! And remember, we're in Iowa, so it was miserable to be waiting outside for that long. ;))
Anyway, Fireflight opened, and thank heavens they only played 3 songs. I couldn't believe how bad they sounded live. I kind of like some of their music. But it was just way too loud (louder than the rest of the bands that night), and their singer was practically yelling instead of singing .. she sounded like she was really straining her voice. I mean, she sounds amazing on their recordings.. but not live... maybe that night just wasn't her night. Plus the guitarists looked kind of creepy how they were head banging and everything. ;)) Not to judge people by their appearances, but they just looked like any other mainstream rock band, not a Christian one.
Um.. then Newsong played, and I wasn't familiar with them at all, but they were okay. I think the Newsboys were next.. they were pretty good. They played the longest of any of the bands, next to Third Day (who closed).
Hmm... then they had a speaker, and we left around that time to go look at the merch. But we didn't realize how short it was and so when we started going up we could hear Love Is Here, and my friend and I were just running as fast as possible ;)) (We only missed part of it). They only played 4 songs :( They did their most popular ones, and then a new song that I really liked (I dunno the name). Anyway, they sounded the best in my opinion :P Of course I'm not biased at all... ;) but seriously, they were the least painful to the ears. They weren't as obnoxiously loud as the others.
After TAN they took up an offering to help orphaned children and Robert Pierre sang one song (just accompanied by a CD or something). He had a REALLY good voice. And I didn't even realize until I was looking up stuff today that he's only 17!!
Third Day was last, and although they're most people's favorite/considered the best, I just am not a fan of their sound or their singer's voice. So we stayed for a couple songs..and then my mom was getting really tired (it was late and we still had to drive back) so we left. She just wanted to stop by the TAN merch and look at it though. And I got super excited because I noticed a table with 4 empty chairs sitting behind it, across from their merch. ;)) We asked their band manager about it and he said that they would be signing after the concert was over. So much for leaving early :P We were definitely staying to get autographs...so yeah, then they came in (apparently from their tour bus) and we were like 3rd in line :P I was really really hoping I could talk to them so I could ask about playing w/ them at one of their concerts. I had tried contacting them before but they didn't respond..
Well when I got up to Mike he said "hey you really need to play with us sometime!" SO we gave them a piece of paper w/ all my contact info on it this time, and told them which concert works out best for us (there's one in IA in April), and they should be in touch with me.... :) We'll see what happens. Jeff was like, "y'know, we're looking for a keyboard player!" but my mom was just like "she's only 16." Jeff: "Oh." xD Maybe in a few years I can join the band. Just kidding :P Oh, and I met their new bass player Ruben. I'll scan the autograph photo thingy so you can see the photoshoot with the new lineup.. Ruben seems like a pretty cool dude though. I found his flickr- http://www.flickr.com/photos/rube/ there's some neat stuff on there.
So I was kind of disappointed that we even went, but after that I felt like it was definitely worth going!!

Oh dear. I'm afraid nobody wanted to read all that, but there you go.

so tickets for Tobymac and Skillet go on sale this Friday.
They'll be here in Florida on March 27.

I've seen them both before, and would love to see them together.
But should I go? :-?

If you really like them both, then yes, go! Unless the tickets are really expensive I guess...

you should go narnian1!! My dad might drive me and my friend 8 hours to MD so we can go :p

Kat: I read it! I can't believe you didn't like Fireflight! They're pretty great...although their look might scare some people off you can tell by their music and attitudes that they're Christians. Cool about TAN. I probably wouldn't drive to see that concert (though I would if you played with RK I would :p ) so you have to take a video and show it to us!!!! And also, YOU DON'T LIKE MAC POWELL'S VOICE :-o !!! He sounds so awesome! But yeah Robert Pierre does have a great voice. I like his voice but not neccesarily all his music...not like bad lyrics or anything but just the style, but that's just me...my younger sister has his CD though :p

Awww, no love for Mac Powell? He's so classic though. That's so cool about playing with them Kat. You had to tell them who you were right?

Deas Vail premiered the video for "Excuses" tonight. I really wish they'd chosen a different song, but whatever. I'm sad they didn't show Justin too much. He's by far the most charismatic of all of them. He jumps all over the place when they play live. I love watching Wes sing. It never seems to take any effort for him and he rarely does the whole dramatic face-scrunch that so many performers do. I definitely laughed at his indie scarf though. ;)) It's not the greatest video ever, but it's their first. They can only up from here.
Here's a link:

I'd love to see an ample-budgeted video for "Atlantis." That'd be so cool. It will never happen though.

Miss Aravis, I think you may be the wrong audience for the show if you think FireFlight's head-banging was creepy and un-Christian. (also, aren't FireFlight fairly mellow? Do you mean Flyleaf?)
If the members looked like any other rock bands, is that really so bad? What matters is the difference in their values, believes attitudes and lyrics. Please don't judge a person by their head-banging.

I'll see how much the concert costs before deciding.

FireFlight
So what if they looked the same as any other rock band? The difference would be in their attitude and lyrics and values. Don't judge a person by their head-banging. Goodness.

I actually see where Miss Aravis is coming from. Though I can't speak of Fireflight,
My first time going to Way Fest, where different Christian groups go, Everyday Sunday went. I really like their song "Find Me Tonight" but their performance I wasn't crazy for. For one reason, clothing, pants falling down showing their underpants. The lead had to keep lifting his pants. That's very unchristian if you ask me. I still listen to the song and enjoy it, but I'd never go see them again. There should be some difference in appearance.

One of my favorite bands is Hillsong/Hillsong United. They've released some very popular worship songs lately, some of which I really love. One of my favorite worship songs is "Mighty to Save", that I first heard 2 1/2 years ago at a youth camp (I went as a counselor).

My music collection is composed of primarily Christian Worship, Christian Contemporary, and Soundtracks. Right now I have 20 hours altogether, but unless something stands out, I don't want to go overboard. I'm not the kind of person that has 20+ days of music. At that load, some of that stuff you will never get around to listening to again. So I only download the songs that I actually would listen to more than once, instead of the entire album.

Be watching for the release of my spiritual warfare novel under a new title: "Call to Arms" by OakTara Publishing. A sequel (title TBD) will shortly follow.
