I'm not sure who's replacing Ben.. but it won't be the same :/

Yes, I do like Nevertheless and I heard about a month ago they were disbanding... WHAT IS HAPPENING TO THE WORLD!?!? Anyway, I like their songs Sleeping In, When I'm Alone, It's No Secret, and Rest.

Definitely won't be the same with a different guy as lead. Though I only like two of their songs so far, the only two I've heard actually- both great too! (you'd think I'd have checked for more already)

Nevertheless,
I've only heard 3 songs: The Real, Live Like We're Alive and Sleeping In.
(like, love, and really like- respectively)

From TBR, listen to "Change The World"... I think it's really beautiful. And then if you're up for something a tad heavier check out "No Turning Back" and "My God" (My God isn't really that heavy, just more so than Beautifully Broken ... and Pain, which I also really like).

Interesting review, GtG. I have to say that I disagree with you on a few points :P Therapy and If You Believe Me are 2 of my very most favorite Relient K songs now. If You Believe me is incredibly catchy, and the chorus is just amazing. In my opinion. :P And I love the piano in Therapy. I agree with you about Over It though - my least fav songs on the album are probably Over It, Savannah and (actually) I don't like Candlelight that much (comparatively. I still love them all though). I appreciate Savannah and Candlelight because when listening through the album they provide a welcome break from the heavier subject matter.
Sahara - I absolutely LOVE it. And the guest vocalists do an amazing job. I get chills when Tim Skipper and Aaron Gillespie come in. And I think it actually has a really deep spiritual meaning. I'm sure Matt left it to be open to interpretation, and I basically see the song as someone crying out to God for Him to never abandon them. Even when we turn away from God, we still need Him to be there for us, and pull us back to Himself. It's just so very poetic and powerful.
And then of course I am insanely in love with This Is The End (If You Want It). The contrast the two songs provide is just beautiful and compelling. You can really hear the desperation and emotion in Matt's voice as it cracks near the end of the first half (This is the end)...and then it goes right back to his beautiful, almost lullaby-like voice. Relient K always has such strong closers.

Right now I'm just obsessed with Danyew's song "The Closer We Are." It's very, very good. Give it a listen. :D

I'm just not a huge fan of breakup songs so they're lucky I liked any b/c I tend to be a very harsh critic of breakup songs. Therapy does have some pretty piano (I heard it live! ;) ) but I'm just not a huge fan of the lyrics. If You Believe Me is ok but it's definetly not one of my favorites. Sorry! But yes I ADORE Sahara and This Is the End (If You Want It). Seriously every time I hear it I just bawl, he sounds so real...and sad. I want to hug him ;) :p :). Especially when he says the lyric in my sig. And at the end of This is the End...*sighs and goes off to listen to it again... ;) * How can you not like Candlelight?!

Oh yeah, I forgot you heard them live. Lucky :P It's not that I don't like Candlelight, I do think the lyrics are very clever and cute... it's just not a fav from the album. The repeated 3rd and 5th scale degrees in the chorus just kind of annoy me... I dunno why :|

*feels wonderful at being able to put her two cents in*
I think this is the only CD on my iPod that I don't skip any songs on when listening. Sure, I like some better than others, but I pretty much fell in love with the album from my first listen.
No, I'm not the kind of person who loves break-up albums, but I do like well done break-up albums. Let me explain.
I like Forget and not Slow Down because Matt doesn't try to blame anyone, he just focuses on moving on. (That's my explanation for the title.) He references talking to God helping him. He also doesn't go on "blasting" her, but makes it known he still thinks she's beautiful. At least, that's my take on the album.

Yeah I heard Therapy, (If You Want It), Forget and Not Slow Down, and I Don't Need a Soul live. It was cool, but I was upset the other day b/c I was watching some videos my friend took at the concert and realized that Matt said at the concert that they would have the CD on Amazon a day early. I was must have been talking to my dad or something and missed. Oh well, at least I have Terminals but still! I could have the CD 3 months earlier!!! X( :(( ;) :p

those are some good points winterlife. He doesn't sound bitter just...a little depressed. Idk, I just felt really depressed after I heard the CD, but I do love it! :D And really the only songs I skip when I listen to it are Savannah and Over It. I do like Therapy and If You Believe me more Kat. I had to listen to it a few more times. But I stick with my previous opinion, they're not my favorites. ;;) But I won't hate you for liking (or loving) them ;) :p :D

... but with Christ, there shouldn't be any need to feel depressed!

That is so true. ;)) :) I like both Major and Minor as well. :D

*wonders why she can't seem to compose anything in a Major key. :p My friend mentioned that the other day, "All your songs are Minor!"
Me: "Really? Huh. I guess you're right." :p

Well, minor pieces on the piano sound pretty! :P It's a pretty minor that you're talking about. Not the harsh, heavy and aggressive minor... if that makes sense xD

Right, I think winterlife has it. Matt, even though he's sad, he concentrates on just continuing with his life, and trying to keep a positive attitude. Musically they've matured so, so much, that I can't wait to see what Matt will write when he's in a better mood. ;)

I agree :)

so I was listening to Deathbed by RK today and was listening to the last part where there's another soloist instead of Matt singing. The voice sounded really familiar but not like anyone else in the band. So I go the end of the CD to read the credits and low and behold Jon Foreman sings in that song! I would have never guessed... ;) :p :D

;)) Gotcha. I know what you mean. :) I haven't listened to enough FallingUp really though, to say much about it. ;)) :p

Glenstorm: Really? You mean the "I am the Way
Follow Me
And take My hand
And I am the Truth
Embrace Me and you'll understand
And I am the Light
And for Me you'll live again
For I am Love
I am Love
I, I am Love"
part? ;)) That's one of my favorite parts of the whole song. And wow, I didn't know that. Pretty cool, I'd say! :p

You didn't realize that was Jon Foreman until now? ;))
I love that they had him sing at the end.. his voice is perfect for that part.

Oh and about Falling Up, they aren't really that way. I just got that impression from hearing a couple of their songs at first... but their style varies a lot.

Kat: Ah, I see. (concerning Falling Up) I really like "Hotel Aquarium", so I should go listen to more of it.
Since I'm off school for a week or two, I haven't been listening to as much music. :p I listen to a lot of it while doing school--though that can be distracting sometimes. ;))

I didn't realize that was Jon Foreman. :p I'm so slow. ;))

I can only compose in major keys. I've never composed anything in minor. I should try it sometime.

QS: actually I'm pretty sure Matty T sings the "I am love" parts but Jon sings the rest. :)
