Liberty: I haven't actually. I've heard a few songs off the album, but not the title track. That album is on my "to listen to" list though.

I am procedeing to scour iTunes and CBD to find the music I want to get with my $30. I would get all of it on iTunes, because it's cheeper, but CBD has a bonus limited edition version, with four extra tracks, so I'm willing to pay $2 extra plus shipping.
I will be shocked if I don't get FANSD, but I'm still debating on whether or not to get Hello Huriccane. I've never listened to much Switchfoot, but everything of theirs I've heard I liked. And I want to get Britt Nicole's latest.
Now I'm wondering if I have enough money.

#24 Johnny Diaz, More Beautiful You
yeah, I don't like that one either...
I got a few songs from Anberlin, & I must say, they weren't really my style. I liked A Whisper & a Clamor, & Breathe. They were cool.
I am falling in LOVE with Copeland right now! "You break your neck to keep you're chin up..." Beautiful.
I showed that song (Chin Up) to my sister,
& she was like, "oh, yeah, that's okay."
I was obsessed with it!
Then yesterday, she randomly asked me "What's that song that goes, 'You break your neck to keep you're chin up...' ?"
"Did you like it?"
"Yeah!"
"THAT WAS COPELAND!!!"
"Cool"

Actually, I wouldn't recommend Hello Hurricane for you, if you haven't heard SF much before. It's not their best work, honestly. If you like heavier stuff, you might like it, but it's not as good as Oh! Gravity or Nothing Is Sound. I wouldn't buy the WHOLE album. Just a few... depending on what sound you like.
I heard some of the songs from Hawk Nelson, & I didn't really like it. Sorry! Not my style. I will look into Falling Up, my cousin (who also is a SF lover ) said they we're really good.

Hmmm.... Hello Hurricane was the first full Switchfoot album I bought. It's what really got me into them. I haven't really been listening to a ton of Switchfoot until about a month ago! So, I dunno, I really love Hello Hurricane. The only "heavy" songs are Bullet Soul (which is ok, but my least fav on the CD), The Sound, and Mess of Me. They're all really catchy though. The lyrics are so poetic and beautiful, but I guess all their stuff is that way
Oh, and I just bought Jon's Fall EP. I'll post later what I think once I listen to it.
Hahah! QS, that's funny. Brian Young.. lol. I might say that... probably only if it was like my brother though
Falling Up... Right now I'm obsessed with Good Morning Planetarium. I love the lyrics so much. My initial impression of these guys is that they mostly write songs in a minor key and have a kind of dark depressing style... which gets on my nerves sometimes... but there's a sense of hopefulness in their lyrics that I've noticed the more I listen to them. I was surprised when I heard the song "maps" from Captiva because it was in a major key What I find weird is that Captiva, which has most of my fav songs on it, has only a 4 star rating on iTunes. I guess it was just too far of a departure from what fans had heard from Falling Up before... Fangs! also has a low rating. I mean, they're experimental, so you should expect their sound to vary quite a bit. And I love the way they incorporate piano into their music. Check out the song Fearless (250 and dark stars) from Exit Lights - except for the rapping part w/ Trevor Mcnevan at the end, I love it!
I decided to put off The Lost Get Found and anything else in favor of the folio for MMHMM. I got the last one on CBD!
In the way of what I like, I can tolerate anything. But I'm partial to indi, alternative, and punk rock. (Most people I know don't picture me as someone who would like those styles, but hey, that's their problem. )

Yeah, Bullet Soul was my least favorite too. It just wasn't them. HH was good, but not as beautiful as their other stuff. I think I prefer The Sound to Mess of Me, by the way. Both are really good though.

that's really interesting, how people can get a certain tone & color into their music by the pattern of notes they use.

that's cool! I love it when people go after different sounds, & experiment with the music.

Mmhm.. it's just so hard to pinpoint Falling Up's style! Maps sounds so mainstream, but then they have a ton of songs that are clearly sacrificing accessibility for creativity. One thing I've noticed is that their harmonies are often times perfect 4ths or especially 5ths. This gives the music a very open, extensive sound. So many of their intros are very mystical and beautiful... listen to the opening of the song Captiva... it's really mysterious. I also love the piano in "The Dark Side of Indoor Track Meets".. but I can't figure out what the song means. A lot of their lyrics just sound like meaningless poetry--really cool sounding, but I don't understand it. "Goodnight Gravity" almost sounds like powerpop! I don't think I will really be able to get a feel for them until I've heard every single one of their songs. And their song titles are super weird.
Anyway, you should def listen to some of their songs.
ok so I haven't been on here in awhile...the only CDs I got were the ones I already knew I was getting but I got alot of money so I hope to buy more soon!
I write some about FANSD later, right now I have to get off the comp soon and will take me a LOOOONG time to write about FANSD (such a complex...emotion it gives me )
I like minor keys for some reason. I mean, I love songs in both major and minor, but... yeah. I usually only compose in a minor key.

I dunno, it just seems like.. all metal is in a minor key. Or some sort of minor-sounding mode. And so it gets to be really depressing after a while. Maybe it's just me, but I feel like music, if it's supposed to be Christian, shouldn't sound totally hopeless all the time. Sure, it's great to write about our problems and where we've been and all that... but with Christ, there shouldn't be any need to feel depressed! Of course I enjoy both major and minor music, but I like to have both... not just minor...
Edit: baaah now I'm really sad! I just found out that Ben Olin (lead singer) of This Beautiful Republic is leaving! Why do all these bands I like do this to me? And I was just starting to really love them..and Ben's voice...

EXACTLY!!! That's why I LOVE 10th Ave! Mike understands that w/ Christ, we have hope, unlike the rest of the world. I feel like sometimes bands can get a little imbalanced with that. You can have songs about lamenting your troubles, & realizing that you need Christ, but you can stay there! God's love changes everything! You've gotta have both.

oh man! I don't know what to say.
I like his voice as lead. who's replacing?
On another note:
Any Nevertheless fans?
On Saturday while listening to the first half of the 2009 countdown,
it was announced that as of January they won't be a band anymore. They're calling it quits.
The only song I've heard of nevertheless is Sleeping In and I really really REALLY enjoyed it...why in the world are they disbanding?
Ok so here's my review of FANSD. I would have done just one review of the whole CD but it's so...idk, really really complex and each song is really individual so idk I guess each song needed it's own little review
1. Forget and Not Slow Down
-this song is hands down the best one on the album. It is really the only song that's not about a girl/relationship (not that I'm opposed to those) but it has a really great message. Not to mention that it is REALLY catchy- I heard it about 3 times before I got the CD and I already had it stuck in my head
2. I Don't Need A Soul
-this is also one of my faves on the CD. It is kinda about a breakup but it's done well and I also think it has a great message. We really don't need anyone but Jesus to live. And it also is really catchy .
3. Candlelight
-I really like this song. Classic RK style- clever cute lyrics, and a nice catchy tune. I also like the "Flare" after it (the way it's sung drives my sisters insane, I always sing it *the solar flare shines through her hair...* )
5. Part of It
-this is a nice song but it's not one of the best. It does have some good lyrics and isn't a depressing breakup song. So it gets props for that
7. Therapy
-now this breakup song isn't a great one. I mean it's not horrible but it's not something I listen to all the time. The overall feeling is not my fave.
8. Over It
-I must say I dislike this song. There are very few RK songs I actually don't like but this is one of them. It just isn't the best lyrically and the feeling it gives me is not the best (one of those kinda depressing breakup songs...)
9. Sahara
-I do enjoy this song. It sounds a little like "I Need You" from Five Score (or let me say it makes me think of it...). Nice song, with cool lyrics. I like it
11. Savannah
-this is also a nice song but I don't have a real opinion on it. Nothing special...
13. If You Believe Me
-like Savannah, it's nothing special but it has better lyrics I think. Just not one of the strong points of the CD.
14 and 15. This is the End (If You Want)
-I can't say how much I love this (these) song(s). Words can't describe it's awesomness. Matt's raw emotion in it is just plain amazing- it makes me cry every single time I listen to it. Plus it has BEAUTIFUL piano . There's only on bitty phrase I don't like but the rest of the song makes up for it. It's definetly one of RK's best songs ever- one of their masterpieces...
Conclusion:
I do think this CD is worth the buy, but if you don't like breakup songs and sad songs, then I wouldn't exactly reccomend it.
just my two cents
