You know, I've seen several of you say that you love Celtic music, but no one has mentioned any bands or artists yet. Who do you like? Do you all prefer instrumentals (such as jigs and reels) or do you prefer songs with vocals and lyrics? What are some of your favourite songs?
And have any of you heard of Iona? They're a Christian Celtic group that I rather like.
Some days you battle yourself and other monsters. Some days you just make soup.
But if you really liked Your Love Is A Song that much, you're in for a treat with the other songs IMO!
Hehe... well, I still really like it, maybe better than the others.. Idk why. Another one I LOVE from Hello Hurricane is Enough to Let Me Go. it's simple, but beautiful, and I love the guitar hook.
GtG: lol good choice. MMHMM is their peak according to a lot of fans. Hello Hurricane is definitely just as good though.
Oh, wow, ok you really need to listen to more stuff from TBATBS! Okay seriously go look up There Was No Thief.
There it is on youtube. It's my fav from the album. IMO, it should be a hit, the chorus makes me feel amazing inside. No Reaction is okay, I'm just not big on Ethan's voice. Ok, wait so which CDs do you have then? MMHMM and F&NSD? Have you listened to any stuff from their debut album(self titled) or Anatomy? Dude, you're missing out!
As far as Celtic music goes, I like Enya... but I really don't know much else except instrumental bagpipe music that my dad plays
I almost, almost bought Hello Hurricane (literally, I had it in my hands at the checkout line)and It Is Well (Kutless's new Worship album) but I decided to get RK's MMHMM along with Leeland's Sound of Melodies.
Aw, that's kind of sad. Maybe just because I already have Mmhmm, and I really wish I had "It is Well"... Mmhmm is really good though.
Valia: I've heard a few Celtic artists... Maire Brennan, Enya and a few others such as various string quartets or something.
Enya is pretty good, and I liked Maire Brennan as well. I'm pretty sure Maire Brennan is a Christian artist.
Hehe, at Kat's comments about her Dad's bagpipes. *laugh*
I'll have to listen to a few more Re.K songs... I haven't hear any off of the BATBS album.

You do that.
I'd say my fav songs on it are There Was No Thief(as I already mentioned), Here I Go (it's so upbeat!), Hope For Every Fallen Man(basically an acoustic version of "Fallen Man" which was released w/ the MHDSR single), "The Last, The Lost, The Least" (sung and written by John Warne), the acoustic version of Who I Am Hates Who I've Been, There Was Another Time In My Life(great piano part), and then some of the songs that really go back to their punkier anatomy style- The Vinyl Countdown, Nothing Without You, and For The Band. Many of those songs were originally released on EPs a few years ago that are now very difficult to obtain.
Kat: They played There Was No Theif at the concert. I haven't listened to it since though. But trust me, ALL their CDs are on my to-buy list. Part of the reason I haven't bought them yet is because they're also on my Christmas wishlist which only ha dlike 10 items so I think my parents might have already bought them, so I haven't, just in case. But yeah I have Five Score and MMHMM, but FANSD not til X-mas. *is listening/liking There was No Thief*
It was kinda funny actually when I got the RK CD because the guy at the counter was like "so which CD did you want?" And I'm like "MMHMM". So he says, "oh yeah, the one with the flower on it, right?" and I nod. Then he said "I should have asked you like three times and you would've been like 'mmhmm, mmhmm, mmhmm!'"...lol.
For Celtic Music I like Enya, Celtic Women/Thunder, Libera (not exactly Celtic though), and whatever else happens to play on Pandora .
Another one I LOVE from Hello Hurricane is Enough to Let Me Go. it's simple, but beautiful, and I love the guitar hook.
I LOVE that song, and how they can make the electric guitar sound so beautiful. I loved There Was No Thief by the way! He's so creative!

have fun at your music filled day!
I did!
I'm seeing 8 groups in tomorrow's concert:
Barlow Girl, Superchick, Matt Redman, VOTA (formerly Casting Pearls), DecembeRadio, Sarah Reeves, Seven Glory.... Casting CrownsThat is awesome! Majorly jealous.. I've heard of Sarah Reeves but not Seven Glory.
I'm really looking forward to the WinterJam next year where there will be TAN, Sidewalk Prophets, Third Day, Newsboys, Fireflight, etc.
Third Day is the best of that group.
I'd normally put Newsboys second but it's hard to say with the new lead singer, can he take the hits right?
TAN is great,
I like one of Fireflight's songs
Still haven't heard any Sidewalk Prophets song.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now for the re-cap of the concert.
The indie stage wasn't too thrilling,
there was one group though, Cadence, which caught my ears. They were quite good. I have an EP of theirs which they gave out free.
The side stage was great:
First up was Sarah Reeves,
never heard her music before but I was impressed by her voice.
She sang "God of the Impossible" which I really liked, it's not out anywhere yet she said, it will be on her next CD which hopefully comes out in April she said.
"Sweet Sweet Sound" was really nice too and another song she sang, the name which escapes me.
Second was Seven Glory,
never heard them before either but they were quite good. I loved one song for sure but no idea what it's called.
Third was VOTA (formerly Casting Pearls),
They were enjoyable to watch, of course I loved "Hard to Believe".
That lead seems like a bit of a goof, but that made it fun for all.
Fourth and last on this stage was Decemberadio,
Thought they were great. They sang "Find You Waiting" which I love, they did a bit of "Amazing Grace" which is great, then "Satisfy Me" which I like, and "Drifter" also which I love, last was "Everlasting God"- great!
The Main Stage
First up was Superchik, third time I see them. Glad to see them back on the main stage. LOVED them, they sang "Pure", "Cross the Line", "Rock What You Got", "We Live" and other songs which I didn't know. They didn't sing "Hold" however.
Last of all they sang "Stand in the Rain"- which was the favorite of course.
Second was Barlow Girl,
I missed them once before and so I got to see them today for the first time and I love LOVED them. Not at all disappointed with them, even if some of my favorite songs they couldn't get to. They sang several songs I didn't know but I will list those I knew. they sang "Beautiful Ending" and immediately followed it with "I Need You to Love Me", right after that they did a bit of "How He Loves" and straight after spiked it up with "Never Alone". NA was always among my favorites, but hearing it live WOW, it was my favorite tonight except for one thing:
They ended bringing back "How He Loves" and they sang it so solemnly that I have to say it was best of all.
Third and Fourth interchanged. By this time I was also getting tired, having been out since 8am and now time was 8:30pm, so I must admit I left early- still I got to hear several excellent songs:
Matt Redman came out and began with "Everlasting God". Other songs he sang which I know "Blessed Be Your Name", "Mighty to Save", and "Friend of God". I know he sang more that I knew but I left.
Casting Crowns opened up with "Lifesong" and "If We Are the Body".
The third song they sang is off the brand new Cd and it's a song I heard previously on the net "If We've Ever Needed You" and I LOVE the song.
I got to hear them sing "Who Am I" and "Until the Whole World Hears" as well.
And then I left, but I know they sang "Praise You in the Storm" as well because I heard them while they practiced it a bit beforehand. and Naturally there other hits were sung, as I left nearly and hour early.
all in all I had an EXCELLENT time,
I'm not upset that I left early because both Matt Redman and Casting Crowns I had seen before, so what was left I've heard them do before.
Casting Crowns, I heard several others from their cd which releases Tuesday and they were nice. My personal favorite so far of those I've heard is w/o a doubt "If We've Ever Needed You". (speaking just of new cd of course).
And we, today got a treat, Until the Whole World Hears cd doesn't release until Tuesday, but it was open to the public for the first time today at the concert. That was the first thing I checked for, I have the new Cd here at home already while it doesn't release until Tuesday
Kat: I promise, I'll try to listen to more RelientK.
narnian1: Whoa! The concert sounds like it was absolutely amazing!! Splendid! I'm glad you had a good time from what it sounds like.

Oooh, thanks for the RK recommendations. Even though it wasn't directed at me.
I'd like to have actual CDs of stuff, but I tend to just get everything on iTunes. (and buy stuff on CDs when iTunes doesn't have it) Mainly because I have to order CDs from Amazon, and then wait for them to come.
Lifehouse's album has been pushed back until February.

I discovered a band yesterday that I liked called Red Umbrella. They have a really awesome funky, catchy song called "Forest Fire" which just makes me want to dance, but unfortunately it's not available in mp3 format on iTunes or Amazon. I'm not sure why, but their most recent album isn't available in any way other than hard copy. The rest of the music by the band sounds a bit like the britpop genre with some more alternative stuff thrown in. I'm not sure what I think of them. Has anyone heard of them?
Glenstorm the Great, haha, that's funny about getting MMHMM. The Pendragon, I'm glad you like it!
yeah Enough To Let Me Go, I love the crunchy guitars in the background with the acoustic doing the hook.
narnian1, WOW it sounds like you had a fantastic time, and that all the groups you heard were for the most part really good! You got to hear a lot of people! And that's really neat that you got the CD already! My mom preordered it, so we'll be getting it soon.. I hope.
Queen Susan, I'm glad to hear that
Aslans Country, Yeah, I'm lazy like that too Lifehouse... I didn't know they were releasing a new album. I've only heard two of their song though...
Kate, I've never heard of Red Umbrella, but that song sounds interesting... I'll look it up!

yes, a fantastic time! and the Casting Crowns Cd, you will love it.
My absolute favorite in the Cd is "If We've Ever Needed You" just put it on my ipod and on the laptop I've heard 12 times just today, and I will give it more and more plays before the night is ended. Love the lyrics in it.
That so cool that you got the cd early! and listening to one song 12 times! WOW! I'll definitely look into that song when it comes out!
Your concert sounded like a blast narnian1!
I just got a rare SF song that is unreleased from this site (where you can download live versions of rare/unreleased songs) called Just Rob Me, and now I'm obsessed with it! Not the best quality, but it'll do! It sounds kinda like a country/folk song, but with a SF twist. very interesting....but really good!:p I got this other song called Daylight To Break, and it's so funny, cuz after you hear all of their songs, you can hear similar phrases in the songs. In D2B, he uses the term "mess of me". He also uses the word "entropy" a lot.
I also got the song Spirit by them. I recognize the chorus that goes: I've found all that I want, all that I long for in you 2x. And I can't find out if Jon wrote that song, or if it was a cover. Has anyone else heard it? I know they used to play it on the radio all the time, but I don't remember if it was Jon's voice or not. They never play it at shows or anything and I haven't heard anyone talk about it. It was on an album that was from various artists, and this song isn't on one of their albums. can't quite figure it out...

thanks for that link,
I didn't like the song you mentioned "Just Rob Me" but I did get This is Home from the Prince Caspian credits. Now I have both versions, since the credit version isn't the one on the soundtrack.
I like the released version better of course, but it's still nice to have both versions.
Just Rob Me isn't actually a SF song, it's a new song from Fiction Family, which is way more country/folk song-ish. I guess I like Just Rob Me cuz it's so different. Just to let you know, he hasn't done anything else like that in SF. Only in F.F. Everything else is way more poetic, and he doesn't ever do anything like a story. You might like Vice Verses, which is a song from their next album, Vice Verses. It's a lot like his EP's, but it's definitely SF. It's extremely poetic, and beautiful IMO. You can check out the lyrics here.
I got the movie version of This is Home too! I like them both, so it's hard to say for me which is better. Of course I'm used to the soundtrack one.
