Now if only Over and Underneath would go on sale...
It is one sale! Check out: http://tenthavenuenorth.com/buy
Pendragon, thank you so much!! Now all I have to do is convience my wonderful mother(no sarcasm) to let me buy two cd's before Christmas....
Anybody here like Matt Maher?
Oh me! I just got his Alive Again Cd, and I love it! He' really good. I haven't memorized his lyrics or anything, but I still really like it.
I'm listening to Chin Up by Copeland right now. It's good! It has a nice sweet melody.
Kat, I just finished listening to You Gotta Believe and Hills and Valleys! they're so good! I like the last minute of Hills and Valleys, it's pretty! Now I'm listening to Light.

But to be honest, "This is Home" was the very first Switchfoot song I'd ever heard.
Same here! Oh wow, now I feel a lot better.
I really hope their Farewell tour comes near me. It'll probably be a good one--there are a lot of people who would want to tour with Copeland on their final tour. They have been an influential sound in the genre for a while.
Yeah, I remember you telling me that a lot of bands list Copeland as one of their influences on their myspace pages. I really really wish I could have gone to the RK concert on Oct 23 because now I don't know if I'll ever get a chance to hear Copeland!
I love that Deas Vail doesn't always write in 4 time. One of my favorite songs by them is in 3 and the way they use that time signature really gives it such a momentum and a sweeping feeling. They're not as adventurous as Eisley, but still break out of the ubiquitous 4 meter from time to time.
Oh, that's great! I gotta check out the rest of their stuff then. How long have they been around? Because I didn't even hear of them until they joined Mono vs. Stereo records.
Lark: The only Matt Maher songs I've heard are Your Grace Is Enough(I actually first heard the Chris Tomlin version) and Alive Again. Our radio station just started playing Alive Again and I really like it! Do you have any other songs by him to recommend?
The Pendragon: Yay! I'm glad you actually checked out his stuff. Hills and Valleys is probably my fav by TRS at the moment. The bridge in Light is sooo good (lyrically). This is random, but sometimes Bryce's voice sounds a little Jonas Brothers-ish, except way better. It's kinda funny, I was looking at one of his songs on youtube and a lot of the comments were like "Wait is this the Jonas Brothers?" And I was just thinking... how could anyone mix the two up!?
Oooh yeah, and I love Chin Up. His voice sounds so gorgeous and I can't believe how anyone can get that high. I was just listening to it again a couple days ago. I don't own any of their music, but I listen to it pretty often.

Don't feel bad! That was the first song I thought I heard from them, but I had actually heard Gone, Learning To Breathe and More Than Fine. You've all probably heard Gone. It's really popular! But I didn't know any of that was SF.

What??!!! He may sound a little like the Jonas Bros, but Bryce is way better! How could someone mix them up?? lol!

yeah, his voice went really high. Jon goes up that high sometimes, but this guy already had a high voice, then he hit those high notes!
Btw, I can't find Cages on rhapsody! I'll keep looking around for it though.

Really? You're so music-savvy I'd never have guessed.
My music taste is(I think)really weird. I guess it's because when I was little,my Ninny(grandmother) played the same casette by The Beatles whenever I rode in her car and when I was with my Dad, he'd put in blugrass,Ricky Scaggs, and Toby Keith.(muting where necessary with the last one )
Jeremy Camp, Brandon Heath, and MaryMary are in the running for an American Music Award. Who do you think should get it? (sorry for the random question. I'm bored)
Before I close this post, here's a link to a funny Matt Maher video that Matt posted on his Twitter a day or so ago.

I'd go with Jeremy Camp, I LOVE his music. I have his latest CD too, great CD.
Brandon Heath would also be deserving of the award.
Mary Mary has one song I love and another that I like but overall not a favorite of mine.
As for Switchfoot,
I've been listening to them since their Beautiful Letdown CD first released,
some GREAT songs came off of that CD.
Then I enjoyed their Nothing is Sound CD,
which was followed by Oh Gravity, off of which I only really loved Awakening.
Then, finally, came This Is Home from Prince Caspian.
That was the first song I thought I heard from them, but I had actually heard Gone, Learning To Breathe and More Than Fine. You've all probably heard Gone. It's really popular! But I didn't know any of that was SF.
Yeah, I think I had heard Gone before, and also Dare You To Move. But I just didn't realize it was Switchfoot. I guess technically then, This Is Home is the first song I heard by Switchfoot that I KNEW was Switchfoot the first time I heard it.
Oh, about Cages! You didn't find it on Rhapsody probably because it's so new, (I don't know how rhapsody works anyway), but do what Kate told me to do - go here: http://www.monovsstereo.com/index2.php and you'll need to create an account, but it's free and only takes a second. Then you should be able to download Cages for free!
Really? You're so music-savvy I'd never have guessed.
Lol, well thanks I am really not very music savvy at all, I'm just passionate about the artists that I like. A year ago, I knew practically nothing compared to what little I know now!!

I gotta go w/ narnian1, I think Jeremy Camp should win it. He's a legend, really. He deserves it!! Mary Mary is a little bit too much on the hip hop side for me...
Oooh, narnian1, I love Awakening. Heard it for the first time a couple days ago. The music video is weird though. It shows that one dude putting on eyeliner? Okay, that just kinda creeped me out
...Speaking of that I wonder when the AMA's actually take place...
I don't really care if Brandon Heath gets it,but Jeremy Camp's been around longer,so I hope he wins it,too.
MissAravis: A year ago, I was lisening to Taylor Swift. Well Was TAN around a year ago? I didn't actually start liking Contemporary Christian and the like until this July. I think before then the only contemporary Christian group I'd ever listened to was Casting Crowns. (And that's only because my parents made me watch "Facing the Giants.")
Oohh, man! I wish it was tomorrow! I want to order Love is on the Move so bad!! I listened to the whole song "Via Dolorosa" on youtube. It's really good.
Hehe, and after that I'll ask my mom about Over and Underneath. *crosses her fingers* Buying two CD's this time of year is a lot to hope for.

Oh, yeah! That is the weirdest music video EVER!! it's so creepy! and it doesn't even have anything to do with the song! Some good music videos from them are Stars, Dare You To Move, We Are You Tonight, and Meant to Live.
Some funny/older music videos are Chem 6a;
, and New Way To Be Human
Those are my favorites! Chem 6a was their very first music video! They were so little! it's hilarious!

Oh my gosh, Jon looks so different in those older ones. Mainly because of the short hair.
We Are One Tonight is such a cool video because of how all the scenes blend right into each other! Sooo creative! A lot of work goes into these videos...

Tenth Ave released their album in May 2008, but they didn't really get popular til By Your Side was released for radio, which was after that... not exactly sure when, though. But yeah... I didn't start to listen to CCM at all until I was probably 9ish, and I didn't like most of it then. I kept listening to it over the years and it obviously grew on me, but it wasn't until a couple years ago I added secular artists to the mix. And I'm still pretty limited with who I listen to, but I'm getting better. Last year I listened to tons of Regina Spektor and Imogen Heap. I still admire them as artists a lot, but don't listen to them that much now. I kind of go through stages I guess
oh, I forgot The Blues.
This music video is my favorite. Yeah, Jon looks really different! Everyone looked so little in Company Car! they were adorable!! in that little kid kinda way...
I heard one Imogen Heap song called Inside out, I THINK! I'm not sure...
avatar by Flambeau!
I've never heard Regina Spector or Imogen Heap except for the Narnia songs they did.
Wow,TAN's been around longer than I thought.
MissA,everytime I see one of your posts it reminds me to go look up TRS. I guess I'll get around to it eventually.(procrastinating is my unfortunate specialty )
Shoot! Matt Maher was on my local radio station this morning and I missed him! Oh,well, life goes on...
Mark Hall of Casting Crowns lost his voice after only three songs in a concert last night.(I didn't go) I felt so sorry for him.
I heard "Monster" by Skillet for the first time last week. It was pretty cool. More hard edge than I'm used to,but not so hard that I couldn't stand it.
I like Natlie Grant too. I saw her peform at the Extordinary Women's Conference last month and she was really good. And Charles Billingsley was amaaaazing,of course. I suppose that's the only "concert" I've ever been to.
Oh, that's great! I gotta check out the rest of their stuff then. How long have they been around? Because I didn't even hear of them until they joined Mono vs. Stereo records.
The song I was talking about is "From Priests to Thieves" and it's on their White Lights EP if you're interested. They've been a band since 2005 or 2006 and put out their first album in 2007. They recently switched to Mono Vs Stereo from Brave New World.
"Chin Up" is such a good song. Aaron Marsh is such a talented vocalist. I'm so incredibly sad that they're breaking up. Wes Blaylock of Deas Vail sings super high too. The bridge at the end of the song "Shoreline" is quite impressive. The lead singer of Until June is another high singer and then Matt Thiessen sing super high on Deas Vail's "Birds."
I'm surprised how many people were introduced to Switchfoot from "This is Home." No one remembers their role in the soundtrack from A Walk to Remember? And radio stations of all types overplayed "Dare You to Move" and "Meant to Live" to the max. I have The Beautiful Letdown, Nothing is Sound and some songs from New Way to be Human and Oh! Gravity, but I haven't really been keeping up with them lately. I'm not much of a fan anymore.
Whoa, I just watched the music videos to "Awakening" and "We Are One Tonight." The latter is just really cool, but the former features the actor who plays one of the characters in the TV show Chuck. How wierd.
I thought that TAN became popular with "Love Is Here." That's how I heard of them. I think it was their first radio single.
Ah, okay, thanks for the info on Deas Vail!!
I thought that TAN became popular with "Love Is Here." That's how I heard of them. I think it was their first radio single.
Love Is Here was their first radio single, but By Your Side which was released right after that was just immensely more popular... but yeah you're right I guess technically they became popular with Love Is Here ... still though, I've talked to so many people who have never heard Love Is Here but have heard By Your Side (just on the radio). Radio stations play BYS a lot more.
