Downhere:
I like "My Last Amen" quite a bit, very catchy tune and nice lyrics, but I LOVE "Here I Am". Haven't heard any other of their songs.

I know, I love the tune :D I'm trying to find a piano arrangement on the internet for it, because a company hasn't picked it up and made a book yet :(

Mhm yeah if you like piano stuff check out This Is The End (If You Want It) - the last two tracks (which are really just 1 track split into two) from their latest. It's gorgeous.

Awesome :D I'll have to do that, thanks! I'm planning on getting from all the Relient K albums from MMHMM on from iTunes by the end of the year, what album is it on?

greenleaf: No worries! My favorite song by downhere is actually off of their first album. It's called "Protest to Praise" and it was a bonus track on the WOW 2002 project. That's how I got introduced to them. It's a great song and I prefer that style to their current style.

Cool, I'll have to check that out! Actually I think I may have the WOW CD...*goes and looks* Thanks :D

The Fellowship of the Ring might be my favorite of the LOTR soundtracks. Eh--or The Return of the King. "Into the West" makes me want to cry sometimes.

Out of the two I have, RotK is my favorite. Although once I get TTT I have a feeling I'll like that best. It seems to have the best variety of music...some stuff that was in Fellowship and some themes RotK, but stuff that wasn't in both soundtracks. It's kind of funny that I don't have the one I wanted most yet :P Oh, and about other not very well known bands, I thought I also add Superchic(k) to that list. They're fairly well known, but there's a lot of good songs of theirs that aren't.

I also love We Live, Hold and Pure
I like Cross the Line as well

I've seen them in concert twice now :)

I've seen them a few times, although the first was probably the best and I didn't even know about them then :P I love Stand in the Rain too, I really liked all the songs on "Beauty from Pain", but I lost the CD :( Do you know if they've had any other albums out since then?

The first time I saw them they ROCKED!
the second time was nice but I hated that they were reduced to the side stage, a much smaller stage.

Since alot of groups go, they have two stages: the side and the main.
Rock What You Got came out after Beauty From Pain:
it contains Hold and Cross the Line which I like, the first more than the second. I haven't heard the full Cd. Not sure if they've done anything recently though.

Aw, that stinks, I only ever saw them when there was just one stage. It was great though :D

I'll have to get that, I heard the song "Rock What You Got", and really like it, but I haven't heard any of the others yet. *adds it to gigantic mental list of CDs to get* :P

They, (Superchick), are coming back this year but I'm not sold on going yet. I've seen them twice after all.

It's wayfest which also includes:

Casting Crowns- whom I've seen and love but would prefer to see when they come for their own concert rather than mixed. But their new Cd releases just around the same time and I know they will sing songs off it. Leeland opened for them the time I saw them.

Barlow Girl- I've not seen them and want to, right now mostly for Beautiful Ending.

Decemberadio- I love three of their songs and like another.

Vota- formerly Casting Pearls, I like one of their songs.

Matt Redman- I saw him with Chris Tomlin and Louie Giglio in 2007, love him too.

There's more,
but those are the only ones I know- (love/like).

Yeah 5 Score has definetly way too much criticism. I'm glad that RK's style is changing- shows that they're growing up and maturing. It's a good, natural, and normal thing people!!! ;)

My friend got RK's new album before I did (so not fair- I love them way more than he does ;) ). He doesn't like it as much as their other ones, and his older brother said he's dissapointed with it and that Matt doesn't sound like himself and the band sounds different. Then I explained Matt's breakup and that they got a new drummer but they still didn't really sound convinced. Oh well. :|

On concerts, I've only seen RK but I'm actually going to be part of the gospel choir in a Michael W Smith Concert this November and I'm hoping to go to a BarlowGirl/Superchic[k]/Vota concert that same month. And I entered a contest for tickets to a Leeland concert. Francesca Batiselli and Brandon Heath will be there too. I hope I win! :D ;)

Good luck!
Leeland is great in concert,
though I only saw them open. I'd love to see their own concert sometime.
I love Francesca Battistelli but I haven't had the chance of seeing her in concert, same story with Brandon Heath.

aaah...I heard he was gonna get married this past August (on the 22nd) I had no idea they broke up. How sad

Yeah, I feel so bad for the guy. You gotta feel sorry for him...
Lol! Yeah, Ethan seems really nice, he's just kinda creepy looking compared to Dave. ;))

Poor RK, I have no idea what people are talking about. I think they're last two albums have shown quite a bit of growing up.

I wonder how RK feels about all the criticism. If I were them I'd be pretty sad to hear that some people aren't respecting them merely because they aren't goofy anymore. Bad reason if you ask me. :S

Ah--that makes sense regarding Matt T. I was under the impression that he was already married, and saw him with his then-fiance at Rock the Universe last year. I thought it was his wife. Wow. That's really sad. (Makes me wonder if he's no stranger to break-ups, with "Let It All Out.") I'm going to pray for the guy.

Ah... yeah last year in August Matt proposed to her and they were supposed to get married this August. His fiance said "I called it off after learning a few things about Matt that I simply just could not handle."

Aww, the Must Have Done Something Right girl broke up with him? That's too bad. I guess I can overlook the overabundance of breakup songs then

I know!!!!! Isn't it sad that some of the 5 Score songs (like MHDSR and The Best Thing) are about her and then in their next release they're about breaking up with her. Aaaagh I feel so awful for him! :(

I'll have to do that, thanks! I'm planning on getting from all the Relient K albums from MMHMM on from iTunes by the end of the year, what album is it on?

This Is The End(If You Want It) is from Forget and Not Slow Down. Sounds like a good plan! Those latest three studio albums are definitely my favorites!

Superchick... I'm really only familiar with "Stand In The Rain." But I love it!

GtG: Matt not sounding like himself? As in his voice sounds different..? Honestly, in some their older stuff Matt's voice sounds kind of bad compared to now. ;)) His voice is absolutely gorgeous now! And he can sing in a lot of different styles too, like in Sahara and This Is The End (the heavier part of it) it sounds really forceful but in If You Want It it's really delicate.

I know. I don't get him. I'll have to wait till Sunday and give my friend's bro a good talking to ;) :p

I don't get how people can bash 5 Score because that was the album that made me fall in love with RK's sound. I kind of liked the one song of theirs that I had heard, and then I saw 5 Score in a Christian book/music store. I thought, whatever, I'll just buy it, and I've loved RK since. :D

*Likes the fact that the Aussie called her "mate"* ;)

Yes! It comes out tomorrow for us. Amazon has 30 second clips up and they are fabulous. The EP is called Fire Kite EP. Cool title. The album art harkens back to Laughing City.

I'm enjoying listening to local band Sherwood's new album QU. I'm not a huge fan, but they're from my town and they're generally considered pretty good.

I'm seeing Mae on Wednesday! I've heard a rumor that they have 3D aspects of their performance which is beyond cool.

Wow, I jumped in after the long Relient K discussion! =) I actually haven't heard many of their songs, and people always tell me that I should! I really don't wanna miss out on ANY good music, so I'm gonna look them up...
I'm really surprised more people on here like Switchfoot. Right now they are my #1 favorite! They have such good, poetic lyrics that are very deep and meaningful, and they really make you stop and think. They always say that they make music for thinking people! And I think that's one reason why they're so amazing! :p
They also have a great sound, that's really creative and they think outside the box. Dirty Second Hands is so amazing cuz they recorded it thinking it wasn't gonna be on the album, so it turned out different than any other song on Oh! Gravity. I think it's my fav from that album, actually. They have such a wide variety! From really upbeat and hard rock, to soft and soothing! aaaaa.... =) I think my all time favorite artist is Rich Mullins. I've listened to him for as long as I can remember, and he's the one that made me wanna start playing guitar.
I also LOVE Chris Rice. Most people don't know much about him, but I love his music because it's so creative and simple. His music can speak to me in such a profound way! Prone To Wander is one of my favorites cuz it says: "How can I be so prone to wander, so prone to leave you, so prone to die. and how can you be so full of mercy, you race to meet me and bring me back to life." Beautiful!
I really like Bebo Norman! I only have one of his CD's (Between the Dreaming and Coming True) but I love it. Every song is so deep and gorgeous!
I saw a couple peeps mention pureNRG! I love them! :D I used to just like thier music cuz of the kids in it, but their new CD is much better, and more mature. They are also great to dance to! ;)

Also Sara Groves is amazing! She was my favorite (besides Rich M.) since 4th grade, until I found out about... (drum roll, please!) ;)
TENTH AVENUE NORTH!!!!!!!!!!!!! and everyone knows them, and why they're amazing! :) Btw, Mike D is a big Switchfoot fan! Awesome!
My favorite is actually Beloved, even though it's not their most popular. Nothing has spoken to me as much as this song has. Every time I listen to it, I hear God saying the words to me. Amazing...
So, back to Switchfoot, (not that I haven't talked about them enough! At first I didn't like them because they looked really creepy in the This is Home music video, and I heard that they weren't a Christian band (although that's a WHOLE other discussion!) and their clothes were creepy and Jon's hair was long! :(( X( He looked terrible! But don't tell him I said that! ;) So I thought they were a terrible band. But on the radio, I heard songs like Gone, On Fire, and Dare You To Move, and I loved them! But didn't know that SW wrote them, and tried to find out who did. I didn't remember the name Switchfoot from This Is Home, so when I saw that SF wrote them, I got them. I got a lot of their songs all in one week. I listened to them, and loved them ALL! Not a single one was a letdown! That's pretty cool! So I got the rest of them, and I think there's only 2 that I haven't fall head-over-heels in love with! But a lot of their songs grew on me, and now I love them more than their main hits. Like I didn't used to like Life And Love and Why, but now it's one of my favorites!
It's so awesome, because so many times, I had a feeling or thought bouncing in my head that I can't communicate, then one of their songs fits is perfectly, and they can communicate what I can't. Let Your Love Be Strong was one of those songs. I couldn't quite put into words what I needed to do when the world around me fails. I need to let my love be strong even in the storms, and let my world rest on His love.
So, if you actually read this whole post, you're probably sick of me talking about them! :D But yeah, I really love them! If you couldn't tell! ;) Thankyou for reading this! I love all you NWers!

Kate,
It's good to be able to bring a smile to someone's dial with something as simple as saying, 'mate.'
I'm enjoying the samples of Eisley's new EP - Fire Kite, but I wish they had full songs streamed (it's hard to get a proper feel for the song with such short snippets). Then again, it is Eisley, so I'll be buying it either way.
I hope iTunes Australia makes it available, otherwise I'll be very unhappy.
Do you know when they release their full album? I'm guessing early next year?
Thanks mate, God Bless.

winterlife: kinda like my story- I had only heard four songs of RK before I bought the special edition of that album and now they're my favorite band! :p

TP: I haven't heard much of Switchfoot but what I heard I liked. I've heard This is Home, Meant to Live, and Gone...that's it.
