Kate, I wouldn't put Star Wars past Mike Donehey because I know he loves it. :D He did a Watto impression at a concert I recently went to. And he was very good.

Any low-radar Christian bands? The only one I can think of that I listen to is After Edmund (yes, named after E. Pevensie). Sometimes the lead singer's voice sounds a bit whiny, but I'm starting to like it. Anyway, I like listening to music that not everyone else does. It's more eccentric. ;)

Oh, my brother has some "After Edmund" music actually. :-) I haven't really listened to it though... :p

Oh, greenleaf23, Lux Aeterna is the track from Requiem for a Dream that you're looking for. :D Slightly overused, but an awesome piece of music nevertheless.

Lol! ;)) Well it'll be my fault if you go broke then haha, just kidding.

lol, I just went broke from buying the Hawk Nelson songs actually but Christmas isn't far off ;)

Then I have a couple music videos, making for a total of... *checks* 111 Relient K items in my iTunes library.

I think I only have about 30....but I'll definitely be getting more :D and don't worry, I think I have around 130 LotR songs

it's cool because The Truth and In Like a Lion were both written in case the band was asked to do a song for the music inspired by LWW album.

Oh, you had to be asked to do a song for the Inspired By album! I always wondered why that song didn't make it on there.

Any low-radar Christian bands?

A few that I like are KJ-52 and B.Reith, but they're more like rappers than a band...I also like "Downhere" a lot (they're pretty new, on their first album), but I've really only heard one of their songs

Oh, greenleaf23, Lux Aeterna is the track from Requiem for a Dream that you're looking for. :D Slightly overused, but an awesome piece of music nevertheless.

Oh, thank you:D!! I thought that was what it was, but I wanted to be sure.

Well, I'm loving both the Hawk Nelson albums I got :D I really like "Something on my Mind" "The Late Show" "It's Over" "California" "Letters to the President" and "Hello" :D

Just popped in and saw a long discussion on Relient K's new album... I pre-ordered it and it's great. Not my RK CD, but definitely worth buying. I don't care for the new drummer and the mixing on his drums, though. But it's still cool - they are my favorite band by far. :)

Hathaway: It depends what you mean by Christian band, but Tooth and Nail records have a whole label's worth of really excellent low-profile Christian bands. Some are a little wierd, but other's are just fabulous. I also enjoy The Glorious Unseen. After Edmund is pretty good. I liked "Clouds".

greenleaf: Uh, I was first introduced to Downhere in 2002, so they're not very new. They've put out 5 albums since 2001.

I got the new Relient K album last night. I'd like it more if it were another band's CD. It seems like a really dramatic shift in style. And there is way too many breakup songs on it. However, I do like it. It's just not my favorite Relient K album.

Scarlet, I'm referring to both the secular and the Christian, but I guess mostly the secular Christmas music. I understand and believe the real reason for the season but I find the music to be overplayed and often not very well written and/or deep.
I'm not sure I'm familiar with the songs you're talking about, so you may have some exceptions to the rule there.

Good point, W4J - there is plenty of fluff out there, whether in Christian or secular music. I do think these songs are an exception, but I don't know if everybody will agree with me on that or not. ;)

Here are most of the songs I mentioned (not that you have to listen to them all) - sorry I didn't put the links to begin with. I forget that not every one has our collection of Christmas CDs. (Not that it's huge, but Dad likes to give Mom a couple Christmas CDs every year for her birthday, so we now have a nice variety of styles and songs to enjoy all season long.)
Come Thou Long Expected Jesus (I like Fernando Ortega's version better, but this was the best I could find on YouTube); O Come, O Come Emmanuel; What Child Is This?(couldn't find Selah's version); Mary, Did You Know?(Mark Lowry wrote the song and no one can sing it like he can); and We Are The Reason.

My favorite Christmas song is "Do You See What I See". Has anyone else heard it?

oh I've heard that song before winterlife, though it's not my favorite. I love the way Out of Eden sings it. :) My favorite Christmas songs would have to be...Sleigh Ride ;) , Welcome to Our World, We are the Reason, Carol of the Bells, What Child is This?, and many many many others. :D

Hehe, that's true! I always ask for iTunes gift cards for Christmas! ;))

Lol, I only have 57 LOTR songs. You win. :P

I miss Dave so much, you don't even know. :( He was the best. Plus, Ethan is just kind of a creepy looking guy. ;)) Even though I'm sure he's really nice.

It seems like a really dramatic shift in style. And there is way too many breakup songs on it. However, I do like it. It's just not my favorite Relient K album.

Yeah, well Matt did say that the whole album was basically about his break up and how he coped with things afterwards... which is why songs like Savannah and Candlelight are a welcome break. ;)) It is a pretty dramatic shift in style though. One change I love is that there seems to be a lot more piano.

Thanks, Kate and greenleaf23! Yeah, "Clouds" is pretty awesome.

"I Celebrate the Day" is probably my favorite Christmas song. Relient k rocks.

Um... whaaa--? As far as I know, and I'm 99% sure this is the case, last year Matt T. was engaged to be married and then the girl broke it off. That's why so many of the songs on the new RK album are, well.. depressing.

Uh, I was first introduced to Downhere in 2002, so they're not very new. They've put out 5 albums since 2001.

Oh.... I've really only heard "My Last Amen", and on the radio they kind of treated it like a new band kind of song....I really need to look this stuff up.

My favorite Christmas song is "Do You See What I See". Has anyone else heard it?

I've heard of that one, it's pretty good. I have to say my absolute favorite Christmas song EVER is "Carol of the Bells" done by the Trans Siberian Orchestra ....I got to see them in concert once and it was incredible.

Hehe, that's true! I always ask for iTunes gift cards for Christmas! ;))

Lol, I only have 57 LOTR songs. You win. :P

I'm so glad I got iTunes, cause now I can ask for gift cards :P It's also a really great place to find just about anything. The new Hawk Nelson album and "Five Score and Seven Years Ago" are on the top of my list now.:D

Lol, I got the Extended Edition Score CDs for FotR and RotK, so there's tons of songs, and they're amazing :D (Which is also why I have to make a special playlist for bands like Relient K and Hawk Nelson, cause whenever I put it on shuffle I always get LotR, Narnia, or Up :P )

One change I love is that there seems to be a lot more piano.

I love how they've really done a lot of different styles from Two Lefts to their newer albums, one of my favorite piano kind of songs is "Forgiven".
