Miss Adventure, what's AVPM stand for? I'm not good with acronyms. I'm guessing you're not referring to an Alien Versus Predator Musical? :D

Does anyone have any recommendations about other songs (by Relient K, or from another band that tends to be liked by people with similar taste) that I might like? I like finding new music to listen to all the time, so suggestions are great. :)

Hey Maddy! I enjoyed your review of F&NSD and I'm glad you liked the album! :D Yeah, the intros/outros are kind of annoying. I wish they were stuck together as one song. (Especially Savannah, with Oasis and Baby on both ends). I kind of wonder why they did that. And I really like terminals! The music is like Owl City with a teeny bit of Relient K and Matt doing lead vocals... amazing combination!! Sadly I didn't do the amazon thing so I don't have it.. :((
OH yeah.. If You Believe Me is totally one of my favs from the new album. Such a great chorus... it's awesome.
Okay, more songs by Relient K that you will probably like... I'm sure you've already heard some of these, but I'll just start by listing some of the more popular ones(which are almost all my favorites): Be My Escape, Who I Am Hates Who I've Been, High of 75, Pressing On, Must Have Done Something Right, I Need You, Forgiven, Deathbed (um, for that matter, you might as well take a listen to most of the songs from the album "Five Score and Seven Years Ago" - it's my fav by them). Some sillier songs by them that I like are Mood Rings, Sadie Hawkins Dance, and Gibberish.
Ones that aren't as popular but are really awesome: The Last, The Lost, The Least (that's all one song), The Lining is Silver, More Than Useless, There Was No Thief, Apathetic Way To Be, and In Like a Lion (Always Winter) .. because that one's written about Narnia. Rk + narnia = perfection.

If you just want to get another album by them, I'd recommend MMHMM (2004) or Five Score and Seven Years Ago (2007). Their older stuff is great too, but definitely not in a very similar style to Forget and Not Slow Down, if that's what you're most familiar with. They included a lot more pop-culture references and were just generally goofier in the pre-MMHMM stuff (their debut record Relient K, The Anatomy of the Tongue in Cheek, and Two Lefts Don't Make a Right... But Three Do.)

As for other artists, you might like Hawk Nelson because a lot of RK fans seem to - but I don't like Hawk Nelson - maybe I'm just unusual in that sense, but I think a lot of Rk songs (esp newer ones) are a lot deeper lyrically than Hawk's. Plus Hawk can get kind of repetitive. But, you'll probably like some of their stuff. I don't mind a few of their songs (The One Thing I have Left is good). Hm... and then maybe Stellar Kart?

Kinda random here, but a lot of times I have to get a CD, and when I finally get it, there's another different CD I really want. Anyone else have this 'problem'? ;)

Happens to me all the time... I have a hard time budgeting my iTunes gift card money ;))

Sorry about such a long Relient K rant. You probably already knew a lot of that stuff, but I felt like typing it anyway. :P

Wait? Why would anyone willingly subject themselves to Christmas music even before shops ram them down our throat? There are a few good ones but the majority of Christmas music and movies are downright annoying and at worst make you want to ram your head through a brick wall.
But that's just me.

AVMP is A Very Potter Musical, a fan-made musical parody of Harry Potter. It's on YouTube. :D

I pray that my mum doesn't start play the stuff soon. I can't stand any of it.

MissA: The guy from TAN has a child named Eisley? Why!? After the band? The bar in Star Wars? And yes! I did hear the bonus track. I actually bought the whole album from Amazon when they had it for cheap. I know I said I wasn't going to buy it, but while it wasn't worth 10$, it was worth 4$, so I bought it. I started laughing when I heard the song because I was surprised that none of Adam's influences had made it onto the album since Matt's definitely influenced Adam's album. But then that song played and it all made sense. :)

Glenstorm: You saw Copeland!? *drools with envy* I nearly cried when I heard they were coming to the city I go to college in for a show during the summer (when I was 5 hours away at home). How were they? I'm kind of surprised they're touring with RK. They're not all that similar stylistically.

I've been enjoying Crash King's "My Love" lately. It's sort of Melee-ish excellent rock.

Maddy: RK's CD Two lefts don't make a right... is still probably my favorite by them. It contains a good amount of just fun punk/pop/rock tracks that are well written, funny, expertly produced and are just all around good songs.

MissAdventure: I like Relient k (although you could probably tell that :p ) and I like Hawk Nelson, and Stellar Kart, so MissAravis has some pretty good reccomendations. :) I cover a wide range of genres, though. What styles to you tend toward?

Well after all your recommendations MissAravis I think I may just buy all the Relient K albums :P I only have a few from each album other than Tongue in Cheek(which I have none of) and Three Lefts (which I have the whole album). I really love their music though, so I usually just buy individual songs when I hear them and like them (Actually, a lot of the ones I have now are ones you played on piano and I recognized them from your YouTube)

And I finally got Hawk Nelson! I bought a few of their songs a year or two ago and they disappeared from my computer, but I got a good deal on iTunes for the albums "Letters to the President" and "Smile, It's the End of the World." I'm glad I got the albums, I love hearing great songs you don't hear on the radio much.

I have The Anatomy of the Tongue in Cheek. It has quite a few tracks, several of which have no purpose whatsoever. But it has some very good ones. I would especially recommend the tracks Down in Flames, Those Words are not Enough, For the Moments I Feel Faint, and Failure to Excommunicate.
Edit: Oh, and Pressing On, My Way or the Highway, and Less is More. I just had to look at my iPod to remind myself everything that's on there. ;))

with the rest of what you said too... ;) :p

I had never actually heard their music before, though I had heard of them. And because I was so impatient to see Relient K I didn't really enjoy them. The tunes were ok but what I heard of the lyrics I didn't like so much ( ex: "was your kiss too weak?" wha...? )

On to the Christmas discussion- I never get sick of Christmas music. I listen to it from October to April. Right now I'm listening to Relient K's Let it Snow, Baby. Let it Reindeer. :D I'm a very Christmas-y person I guess :p I love their version of Sleigh Ride- so addictive! ;)

Oh I would have loved to get that Amazon download!!! I wonder if it's available anywhere else * B-) puts on CSI glasses and proceeds to search the internet for Terminals* :p . Actually (suprisingly) the only album I have of Relient K's is FS&SYA. I also have two songs off of mhmm- Who I am Hates Who I've Been and Be My Escape. I pre-ordered F&NSD so hopefully it should come soon but I won't be able to listen to it til Christmas b/c my parents bought it for me as an early Christmas present. :(( At least I get all the cool things that come with it...like a one year fanclub membership! :D I also have to wait til Christmas for my BarlowGirl CD too- I got the same pre-order thing.

I love Stellar Kart (you can see by my avie that I follow them pretty thouroughly ;) ), though not as much as Relient K, but I do like some of their lyrics better. I have two of their CDs- We Can't Stand Sitting Down and Expect the Impossible, except that EtI I bought off of iTunes *reminds herself to never do that again* so I don't have the actual CD. I'll probably buy it off of Amazon someday...

Glenstorm: That lyric is from the song "Love Affair" which is a great song about mistakes made in love. I'm actually surprised they played that song, it's not from their most recent album and I didn't think it was one of their more popular songs. Copeland is one of my favorite bands. They are excellent song writers but their lyrics can be very abstract and ambiguous. I'm not surprised you didn't really like them though. They don't seem to be your style. It would be hard to like both them and Stellar Kart.

I've been enjoying the two new tracks out by The Almost. "Hands" is especially good, not to mention surprising. It doesn't really follow their normal style.

I'll have to put all those on my list :D thanks!

I was looking on iTunes looking for "Requiem for a Dream" today, and I saw about 10 different songs. Does anyone know which one is like the one in the Two Towers trailer?

But that's just me.

Are you referring to the secular stuff, W4J? Because our preferences tend towards to the "Reason for the Season" type music. Why? Because - I can't get enough of it! :D From the longing (Come Thou Long Expected Jesus, O Come, O Come Emmanuel), the wonder (What Child Is This? or Mary, Did You Know?), the gift (We Are the Reason), and the victory (Joy to the World, Messiah Has Come) - to me, Christmas music expresses all the wonder and joy of my faith in the Savior. I'm one who can't properly celebrate my Risen Lord until I've rejoiced in His Birth. But that's just me (and SnowAngel). ;)

As for the movies, well, I am inclined to agree. Especially when it comes to the animated specials directed to children - I consider them cheesy in the extreme! 8-} I can't ram my head into a wall, though; lumps-on-the-forehead doesn't enhance my makeup one bit! ;) [/offtopic]

Lol! ;)) Well it'll be my fault if you go broke then haha, just kidding. I own all of their albums except for the Christmas one (I've listened to it though) and their debut album. The only other songs I have are 3 songs off of the Apathetic EP. Then I have a couple music videos, making for a total of... *checks* 111 Relient K items in my iTunes library. Yes, I admit that is a bit overboard :P Lol, that's cool that you recognized them from my youtube! ;))
I agree with Winterlife that a few of the tracks on Tongue in Cheek have no purpose... Kick-Off, Lion Wilson, and Breakfast at Timpani's are all under a minute. :P I've never understood I'm Lion-O, either. Thundercats, whooaaaoh? Anyone care to clarify what it means? ;)) I love For The Moments I Feel Faint! definitely one of my favs from that album.

On to the Christmas discussion- I never get sick of Christmas music. I listen to it from October to April. Right now I'm listening to Relient K's Let it Snow, Baby. Let it Reindeer. I'm a very Christmas-y person I guess I love their version of Sleigh Ride- so addictive!

Their sleigh Ride is awesome! The 12 Days of Christmas is really fun too :P

I pre-ordered F&NSD so hopefully it should come soon but I won't be able to listen to it til Christmas b/c my parents bought it for me as an early Christmas present.

Aw, that's too bad! I remember having to do that for the Prince Caspian DVD, it was hard. ;))

Lol, I only have "In like a Lion" but I listen to that all the time It's such a pretty song! And I love the album title :P

I actually didn't realize that In Like a Lion was from the Christmas CD until after I had bought it off of the Apathetic EP. Speaking of which, there's this song called "The Truth" from that EP which is really good - it's cool because The Truth and In Like a Lion were both written in case the band was asked to do a song for the music inspired by LWW album. The Truth was originally about how people wouldn't believe Lucy, even though she had never lied to them, but when they found out neither song would make it onto the Inspired By album, Matt changed the lyrics a little bit so it was about a relationship with God.

Scarlet, I'm referring to both the secular and the Christian, but I guess mostly the secular Christmas music. I understand and believe the real reason for the season but I find the music to be overplayed and often not very well written and/or deep.
I'm not sure I'm familiar with the songs you're talking about, so you may have some exceptions to the rule there.
