aww really? That's my favorite part of the whole song!
I think it's because it sounds like they weren't sure where the music should go next so they went up and then down.. I dunno. That's the best way I can put it. Maybe it'll grow on me.
I'm not sure how Lovesick is different.. I'm no good at explain music.. I guess you'll hear it soon enough.
Ahh... I really want to buy Hello Hurricane but I've spent so much money on music lately.. so I'm going to be waiting for a while.
Avie by flambeau.
"I'm there through your heartache, I'm there in the storm.. I don’t care where you've fallen, where you have been, I'll never forsake you, my love never ends, it never ends."
-Times, Tenth Avenue North
Lark: Very nice. Mendelssohn is definitely one of my favorite composers.
Glenstorm: It's interesting that True Faith would be the song that got you into Anberlin, since it isn't even theirs, it's a cover
My music taste is descending more and more into the obscure, so one day I'll probably be listening to some hermit who makes music by pounding rocks in his cave-home. Looking forward to it.
That made me crack up
It's so funny for me to look back at the music I've listened to and realized which bands that I used to listen to and no longer do anymore conditioned me for the artists I now listen to.
Yeah, even now I don't listen to much CCM compared to how much I did less than a year ago. I remember in the Town Square you were discussing how you weren't a big fan of Love Is Here since it only used 3 chords over and over At that point I guess I hadn't really thought about music outside of the classical realm having the potential to be more complex than the average music like that. And then you were talking about how much you liked Copeland and I checked them out. So now, when we're in the car and my mom listens to K-love, I feel extremely annoyed by the genericness of all the music on there, when last year I loved it
I checked out Ohio Avenue, by the way, and I really like their sound.
I'm working on listening to the rest of your recommendations
My favorite part Kat is that they are recommending it if you like the All-American Rejects. Haha. So similar, right?
I thought that was hilarious. At least Keane is slightly more similar to them, but still... no.
Candlelight's such a cute song, but I just can't get into it.
Glenstorm: I'm not sure how "Your Love Is Life" is. From the preview it doesn't even sound like the same singer, but, it's funny because I had always thought that Drew Middleton was their singer before Mike (since listening to their old songs before O&U their singer sounds so different)... but then one of my acquaintances on the SF boards looked it up in the CD booklet for one of the older CDs that he had, and he said that Mike was in fact the vocalist for those. I guess he really changed his style for Over & Underneath. Anyway... Lovesick does have a different style, it uses mainly acoustic guitar (at first) and then there's a guitar solo in the middle.... it's slightly more chromatic somehow, I dunno, you just need to listen
I'm pretty much broke now when it comes to iTunes money since I bought the rest of Deas Vail's discography Maybe this is going out on a limb, but I think Wes might be my favorite voice in contemporary music. I'm just continually blown away by the incredible command he has over his voice when he sings in falsetto.
Lark: What are some of your favorites from Pieces? I wish there were a couple more songs with the vibe of "Take Over Me" but I really can't complain because I'm very impressed by the whole album.
About the chorus in Healing Begins, when I heard it live I thought that part of the melody was a bit weak and awkward-sounding. However, that's because they left out another note in the melody that they're singing in the studio version. When it goes "da-a-ark," when I heard it live they went straight from B to G, and it sounded strange with the B chord still underneath the G before it actually changed to a G chord. In the studio version though, they slide through an F-sharp before continuing to G, so it sounds better with the B chord.
Glenstorm: It's interesting that True Faith would be the song that got you into Anberlin, since it isn't even theirs, it's a cover
^^ wait, True Faith is a cover? I didn't know that! who wrote it?

too bad. I have alot of CDs I want to get right now too. I just made a list of like twenty . But I don't have any money either
Maybe it'll grow on me.
I hope it does, it's so beautiful!
It's interesting that True Faith would be the song that got you into Anberlin, since it isn't even theirs, it's a cover
hmm didn't know. Just saw it was a single and bought it . It was popular and I liked the cover . I like it though. I might buy a couple songs later
Glenstorm: I'm not sure how "Your Love Is Life" is. hmm guess I do . Lots of lead singers sound different on their earlier stuff. Take Matty T for one! (I know I just can't let that go )
I'm pretty much broke now when it comes to iTunes money since I bought the rest of Deas Vail's discography Maybe this is going out on a limb, but I think Wes might be my favorite voice in contemporary music. wait what?! Do you have both EPs and All the Houses Look the Same then? I don't even have that!!!! I have to buy it! But yes I must agree with you. It was almost painful for me to admit that I like his voice even better than Matty T's! *the whole forum gasps*
Superlong mega-response to Kat:
Wow you remember all that!? Impressive. I still mostly agree with what I said, I tend to like music that is a little more creative, a little less mainstream, and a bit more complex, but I think at the time I said that I was dealing with snobbery. Since then, through a newfound appreciation for what Leeland does in their music and a rekindled affection for TAN, I've realized that just because a song is simple, or sounds kind of not that original doesn't mean it's not a good song. "Love is Here" is a beautiful song. It's honest, true, has a well-crafted melody and has the ability to touch lives. And honestly, that might just make it a better song than Copeland's "What Do I know?" because I'm pretty sure God has used "Love is Here" in more peoples' lives. I think I've realized that just because a song gets played on KLOVE doesn't mean it's not a good song. I've been trying to appreciate songs for their own worth lately. I don't feel that way about all the music on K-love, most of it I still can't stand. But some of it is good.
I'm glad you liked Ohio Avenue. They are definitely a sort of guilty pleasure for me.
Maybe this is going out on a limb, but I think Wes might be my favorite voice in contemporary music.
YES. I said something similar in my review of the Mae/DV show and I still haven't taken it back. Apparently, he's classically trained, so all that control is due to proper technique. And while a lot of vocalists sound great on albums, but not so much live, Wes sounds almost BETTER than on the album when he's live. If you ever get a chance to see them, just do it. It's a revelation. I'm seeing them in 2 weeks. Can't wait!
Liberty: It's by the 80s band New Order. That's why there's weird 80s drumming and effects at the beginning.
Coldplay fans might want to check out a live recording on YouTube of a new song called "Don Quixote" here. It's quite good.
Kate: oh! I didn't think the drumming at the beginning was weird! I like it!

The guitarist of Sanctus Real talks about the new album
The record is true to its name; it’s pieces of who we are and things we might have gone through in the past few years.

So I bought 4 more Anberlin songs- Feel Good Drag, Paper Thin Hymn, Breaking, and The Unwinding Cable Car. There all only ok again. I think I need to warm up to them though...
Lark: What are some of your favorites from Pieces? I wish there were a couple more songs with the vibe of "Take Over Me" but I really can't complain because I'm very impressed by the whole album.
There's still a a song or two I haven't listened to ( ),but I really like "Dear Heart","I Want to Get Lost","Take Over Me",and "Forgiven". Even though "Forgiven" is the most "popular" song on the album,I think it brings acroos a good point without being cliche.

I understand this! Yay!
But unlike you,I wouldn't have recognized the names of the chords.
yay Lark! I be happy for you
lol And thanks. Go check out Ohio Avenue! Please?
I've finally started listeneing to Copeland and This Beautiful Republic. Just what I needed, two more amazing musical groups to obsess over.
lol And thanks. Go check out Ohio Avenue! Please?
ok... . What songs should I listen to?
lol Healing Begins is now on my Top 25 most played list . It's the third TAN song on there, but this is my comp, on my iPod there aren't any TAN songs on that playlist, though there might be soon .
ok... . What songs should I listen to?
"Liar,Liar","Running Away" and "Catch Me". And the rest of them. Last.fm has them.
Ooh,I just listened to "Never Going Back to OK" by The Afters. Good stuff!!
edit: Haha,YESS!! First post on the 100th page!
^ok I'll listen to them today. What genre are they? I think I've heard some stuff by The Afters...are they the ones that sing that song Beautiful Love?
Well--I've been listening to RelientK the most in the past few days... *laugh* But I lent my ipod to a friend for a few days, so now I'm out of most of my music. Except a few CD's--otherwise it's on the computer I suppose.
For some reason I really like "Curl Up and Die" from BatBS album... Along with a few other ones...

I saw TobyMac/House of Heroes/Brandon Heath in concert last night and it was amazing! Toby played a ton of songs and was really active with the crowd and stuff! It was awesome! And I got a poster/T-shirt/both albums from HoH's table (Tim signed my poster...the other guys hadn't come out yet, and we didn't have time to wait. ) Brandon played two songs that had never been heard before ( ). And another that had been played once the night before--that might've been my favorite moment of the night. It was called "Only Water", and I can't wait for him to release it b/c it was amazing! It was just him playing the guitar for most of the song...it was really powerful. Brandon seemed like the most down to earth guy in the world he was super nice. I got his signature, too! I would love to see Brandon in concert again (or HoH, or TobyMac for that matter! )
P.S. I hope this post at least made some sense...I'm still too hyper from the concert to be very clear-headed.
Icon/sig by me
^^ wait: I thought Tobymac and House Of Heros were on tour with Skillet! since when was Tobymac on tour with Brandon Heath?
