Actually, Tenth Avenue North has another CD called Speaking of Silence, and I've heard songs on Youtube that aren't on either CD. I think that SoS was released before they got signed, so it's harder to find (although Amazon carries it). The title track is so powerful.
Oh I didn't know that at all.
just checked Wikipedia- they have four independent albums, including SoS.
But Over and Underneath is considered their "first" official CD and it won them the Best New Artist Dove Award this past April 2009.
Yay, Tenth Avenue North talk.

Yep, their website (TAN's) used to carry all of their old CDs/EPs, but that was several months ago, and they sold out - now they don't sell any of them. And on amazon SoS is selling for a ridiculous price.. like 100 bucks. Also, they had a different lead singer I believe. If you listen to their old songs on youtube, the voice is really different. I think it was someone named Drew Middleton (who wrote Love Is Here), but I'm not positive.
And yes, I was following Mike's twitter very closely the past week because I knew the baby would be born soon! Eisley is so cute!
Really? Your music tastes is pretty standard, nothing too crazy there. Or do you mean your friends don't listen to music by Christians?
Yeah, I live in Japan, my Christian friends tend to be Japanese, so they don't listen to English music. My friends from school aren't Christians, so they don't get my taste at all.
I'm a fan of all those groups.
Tenth Avenue North is on their first CD so you found them at a good time.Lifehouse,
I am only familiar with three of their songs:
You and Me, Everything, Broken- and I love all three
Yay, I tend to discover bands really late.
(even if it technically isn't their first after all.. it's the only one I can probably buy.. )
And those 3 are all favourites of mine. I also like Storm, Hanging by a Moment, Breathing, Take Me In, Blind, First Time, Whatever it Takes... I could go on a while.
You should check Storm out, it's really great.

Wow, you live in Japan? Very cool. I can understand why your Christian music may not be well received there, since very few Japanese are Christians. Have you always lived in Japan? I went there in 2006 for a mission trip and I found it to be nice for a cultural visit but way too crowded and intensely busy for my tastes.

Doctor Who - Season 11
Yeah, pretty much all of my life. My parents are missionaries. It is pretty busy.. but I'm used to it. Actually, it's my Japanese friends that are my Christian friends... while my friends from the English-speaking school I go to that aren't. Kinda ironic, I guess
It means that the friends that would 'get' my music don't understand my music and the friends that understand my music don't 'get' my music. If that makes any sense at all.

I can relate, because even though I live in the US, I get teased regularly abot my music by my "unenlighted" friends. Relient k is the main reason they tease me. My sister used to tease me about Tenth Avenue North and Stellar Kart, until she became a fan of them.

Don't worry, I don't have those albums either.
Kate: Have you heard the bonus track for Forget and Not Slow Down? (The only place you can buy it is via the amazon mp3 download) It's produced by Adam Young.. so it kinda sounds like Owl City except with Matt singing. Pretty awesome combination if you ask me =P
anyway, if you want to hear it, it's on youtube:
*weeps for sad fate of TAN's earlier CDs* Well...I have several friends who are involved with Student Venture in Campus Crusade for Christ, which apparently TAN was at one point, too... *wonders if this connection is any good* I heard they had another lead singer back in the day, too.
Is Stellar Kart super punk or just straight up rock?
I heard bits of Relient k's new album and wasn't impressed...but then again, I wasn't at first with Five Score and Seven Years Ago. Somehow I get the feeling that they might be declining, but I really hope not.

Funny, but I think Relient k is getting better as they go along.
Stellar Kart doesn't really fit into a genre. Some punk, some rock, and I don't know what all else. *has a hard time with genres*
Edit: Five Score and Seven Years Ago was my first Relient k album, and also when the teasing started. I hadn't even heard it yet, and my sister started getting on my case about the song titles. Oh, well. The poor thing doesn't know any better.

Winterlife: I agree. I think Relient K sounds better as they mature. Not that I minded their punkier stuff and wacky lyrics , but as Matt said in an interview once, when you throw in a few meaningless songs into an album it kind of spoils the album as a whole.(This interview was sometime after MMHMM had been released, and he was referring to RK's older stuff). I think F&NSD is sort of a cross between MMHMM and Five Score... Those are my two favorite albums by them, so I love F&NSD! And I know what you mean about getting made fun of - I only have 1 friend who likes RK. Others absolutely despise them or are just kinda meh.
Glenstorm the great: THAT'S AWESOME! How many of the new songs did they do? Did they pull out some old stuff? Was it the three hour tour w/ Copeland and Barcelona?
I'm really really really bummed because RK is coming to Iowa twice within the next couple months, and I have conflicts both times. (well, the first time isn't really a conflict, but the feeling I'm getting is that my mom doesn't want me to go because she isn't a fan of RK). :'(
Oh, too bad! I had a chance to go to a Hawk Nelson concert, but couldn't for the same reason.

I agree with you and Winterlife, MissAravis. They've gotten a lot more variety into their music, and I think they've gotten a lot better. Although I still love they're funny songs I only have two songs from The Birds and the Beesides, "There was Another Time in My Life", and "The Lining is Silver". I have to say, I love the Lining is Silver, it's one of my favorite songs.
I got to see Hawk Nelson once, they were awesome! That's when I started to get into their music. I just got two albums, "Letters to the President" and "Smile, It's the End of the World" and I'm really loving their songs.
Well...my newest song is "Wanted Dead or Alive" by Bon Jovi I've got such a wide variety of music....

Stellar Kart is punk, pop, not really rock, but they are my favorite band.
