About the music that some people comment on...
Music for trailers and music for films are two entirely different things. You won't see the track from trailer on the film music CD (unless a part of the film's original score was used in the trailer). Trailer music is produced by such companies as X-Ray Dog, Two Steps From Hell, Pfeifer Broz. Music, Position Music and many others, and it is wonderfully adrenaline-rising, no?
Also, few people know this, but the characteristic theme that always played when the "The Chronicles of Narnia" title glided onto the screen, was not the work of brilliant Harry Gregson-Williams (I love him!!!), but actually the ending of a trailer score 'The Black Legend' by Immediate Music. This track was used in one of spots for PC, actually.
So yeah, just a little trivia... and I believe Harry Gregson-Williams is still the composer for VoDT (I think so and fiercely hope to be right!), so not much should change there.
My only complaint regarding the music was that they made bad choices for songs IMO. Some of them dont fit very well. I did some research and already figured out the songs used in the trailer. I already knew about the trailer music companies so I dont expect this to reflect the films score at all, but I think that the choices of music was bad for the trailer, the music is not bad in itself it just doesnt fit very well.
And no, HGW is NOT scoring Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Last I heard "David Arnold" was doing the score....unless that changed
I know, I didn't particularly like the choice of "The heart of courage" by TSFH, but there was one moment it fit, when Aslan said "Your adventure begins now", the music was well with that. But still, I think they should have chosen something more swashbuckling, perhaps "God of lightning" by TSFH as well - that was my perfect choice for ending of a VoDT trailer. Oh, well - maybe next teaser
I've seen the movie 9 times!!! (PC)
I've seen the movie 7 times!!! (VoDT) And loved it!

I have to say that this trailer just screams, "THIS IS ANOTHER LAME MOVIE THAT WE'LL TRY AND SELL OFF BECAUSE OF COOL 3-D EFFECTS."
I find the filmmakers to be insulting. Instead of trying to stay in line with the books, they assume all we want is something weird/fast paced/flashy/cool effects. This looks like it's going to be a bizarre combination of Lotr and Alice in Wonderland.
Edmund's blue sword "Hey, where are the orcs?"
Yeah, seriously. Is this a joke? Are you even kidding me right now?
If this turns out like I think it will, it will be one of the most irritating changes in the series so far. This isn't just adding or expanding on an action scene. It's adding an action scene in a scene where the whole point in the book is that they manage to avoid an action scene!
I couldn't agree more! This book doesn't have a battle, that's the whole point! The filmmakers are insulting us by assuming we don't appreciate Narnia but instead all we want to see is some fast-paced action battle scene. Not that those are all bad, but considering how they ruined PC with it I thought they would give it a break. Oh well.

I didnt really like where they stuck "Magical Mystery" by Brand X Music / Magic Box Music either, it didn't fit...at ALL. This trailer in my opinion, was just all out a terrible piece of marketing
perhaps the problem with the digital photography is that it was made for 3D. Things may very well look different. Most of the live action movies that I've seen that have a 3D version don't look entirely real. I mean Avatar looked really cool but it was made from things we've never seen and have no concept of whether it looks real or fake. Alice in Wonderland also looked entirely fake but it didn't really look bad for the sake of the movie.
"And this marvel of all marvels, that he called me Beloved, me who am but as a dog-" -Emeth
Interesting you should mention Avatar there beloved... i'm sure most people remember when the first Avatar trailer came out, and the entire internet when absolutely insane crazy in slating it. "Fake" "Cheap" "Horrible". It was quite a stunning backlash from the fans - so much so that the backlash itself even made headlines. lol. So you know, never judge a movie by its teaser...
I got my dates messed up and thought it was tomorrow that they were posting the trailer. Thankfully, though, I checked Facebook and realized my mistake.
All I have to say is that the trailer is BEAUTIFUL!!! I didn't criticize the pitfalls everybody's talking about, they just flew over my head, because I am just too happy that VDT is getting made and that we get to see it. The time for critiqueing will come when it is all said and done. Right now I'm just taking it all in and thinking about how amazing it is that I got to see some of these scenes as they were shot before they were put into the movie because of NW. Again, it was SPECTACULAR and now I really can't wait for December!
wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that was SO awesome! I love it!
I can't wait to see the entire scene when Edmund, Lucy, and Eustace get into Narnia! that looks so cool! and Aslan looks awesome!
I screamed with joy when I saw the trailer first and I have seen it a ton of times since last night
one question that nobody can answer: why are Peter and Susan shown wearing Narnian clothes in the end of the trailer? I can't wait to see how that's going to come out! yay!

Seems Caspian didn't lose only his accent but also his voice. He doesn't give a peep in that trailer.
they're waiting to spring this on us in the last minute:
"didnt you know? Caspian did on the job training at Buckingham Palace for a year and came back pale, bearded and with an English accent."
You have a chance to become the most noble contradiction in history
...the Telmarine who saved Narnia.
Ok, time to post an in-depth review. Please read it, even though I wrote a book and a half.
My general impressions of this trailer:
*everything looks fake -- probably half due to unfinished CGI and half to those stupid digital cameras....
*the music was awesome (I think I would seriously not mind if "Heart of Courage" was VDT's theme ) *ducks tomatoes*
*the scenes are a mishmash of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Harry Potter, and Alice in Wonderland
*why must they use digital cameras????
*there seem to be 3D gimmicks in this trailer.....is that for the viewing pleasure of Toy Story 3-goers, or is that going to be a consistent theme throughout the film? (This is what I was afraid of in the beginning. I would LOVE to see Narnia in 3D -- PROVIDED there are no 3D GIMMICKS!!!!!)
*it doesn't fill me up with the sense of wonder, magic, excitement and anticipation that I got when watching the first 2 movies' trailers. Succintly, it's a dud.
*I was UBER excited about it and I must say, my first viewing left me disappointed. Crushed. obliviated. (Well, maybe not THAT...)
* why oh WHY must they use digital cameras?????????????????
Scene-by-Scene Review:
1. "Are you sure you're 18?" "Why, do I look older?" Hilarious! Just like Ed. I like the fact that he's trying to see if he could get in. And then, "Edmund, you're supposed to be helping me with the groceries!"
2. "I'm a king!" Now where have I heard that before? I half-expected him to pop out next with, "It's been a year...." *shudder*
(now, let me stop here a sec and explain that although it seems as if Ed is getting Peter syndrome, we don't know that for sure. Also, the Peter syndrome was seriously misplaced. Don't you remember? It first occurs at Deathwater Island, in *Edmund*, and so if he has a little bit of it in VDT I can pretend to ignore Peter's attitude in PC because Ed's here fits so much better).
3. "Lucy, have you seen this ship before?" Heck, no, she hasn't seen it before! She can barely see *it*!!
4. I LOVE how water starts gushing out of the painting, and then Eustace runs forward to "smash the rotten thing" and they all get clobbered by waves!!! AWESOME and it looks just like the book!
5. Our first glimpse of the real Dawn Treader! wait, no...it looks fake.
6. What the *heck* are Lucy and Edmund riding on?? Some sort of medieval elevator? Me no like. (However, in this scene Lucy looks like she's wearing Susan's blue plaid hide-and-seek outfit from the first film! hand-me-downs! )
7. Oh, no! *groan* They resurrected the Aslan puppet from BBC!! Oh, wait. Maybe the CGI's not finished. (Why is he so small?)
8. Minotaur! I like how sleek and less...stocky he looks.
9. Reepicheep!! Oh my gosh! I had NO idea you were going to be in this movie!!!!!! I am AMAZED!!!!! *gasps* *shakes* *faints from shock* (Oh, by the way, *Where's Caspian*?!)
10. Oh, look it's a dryad swimming!! Oh, wait, that must be a mermaid. Hmm...where have I seen that before? Lucy's always waving at things....
11. Caspian!! Finally! Nice outfit. And stained glass windows!
12. "If there are no wars to fight....then why are we here?" OH, IDK, probably some rubbish about seven lords that we're not going to learn about because they've COMPLETELY CHANGED THAT PLOTLINE!
13. Foggy island! Is that Dark Island? Huh.
14. Oh, look! It's Aladdin with his magic flying carpet! He sure got old fast... (and he looks NOTHING like Coriakin, so I'm assuming that's just Aladdin with gray hair....)
15. "You are all here to be tested...." Time to break out the cheese!
16. Eustace! No, wait. Just his eyes.
17. Strange whirly green smoke bombs are headed towards the DT...no really, I think I do like this effect. It reminds me of the Prince of Egypt, when the Angel of Death was unleashed on Pharoah's people, and they made it this creepy green/gold smoke flying through the air...
18. "Edmund! I can make you my king..." Groan, groan, GROAN!!! Have we not heard this twice before?!??!?! Still, I'm gonna wait to see how it plays out. Seems like our theory of Ed's nightmare involving the witch has come true.
19. "And much more..." OK, just why is she green? Freaky.
20. Lucy blows on the book and....ta-da!! Frankly, I think this entire scene is AWESOME. Best part of the trailer!!! Lucy's face just ever-so-slightly, can't-really-tell-when-it-starts morphing into Susan's face is incredible, and just how I imagined it! And then...ROAR! and the snow is a very nice touch.
21. "you've got an extraordinary destiny...." Blah blah blah. Why do we even listen to these things?
22. Reepicheep crawling up the mast....well, I would prefer that he sits in the dragon's mouth, but whatever. Maybe he will later.
23. "Something greater than you could've imagined..." I could've imagined something a lot greater than this trailer, that's for sure!
24. Aww! Reep is so CUTE! Even with gray fur and a paunch. And I love the voice change! You can't even tell.
25. "From C. S. Lewis' epic masterpiece..." this is the only part of the trailer that gave me chills. Seriously.
26. Random shot of the ship....oh, I guess that's the Lone Islands...funny how there's not more about them.
27. "The fate of Narnia depends on you". Well, in the LWW trailer the fate of Narnia rested on Peter's courage, and in PC the fate of all lay with the destiny of one....so I guess you could say we're making progress.
28. OH NO!!!!!!!!!!!!! She glows!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHH!!!! I seriously thought this would not be a big deal! I thought they could make it look NICE! But no...another disappointment. (anyone noticing a trend?)
29. Why is Rhindon GLOWING?????? EWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!
30. Ok, what the heck just happened? Did Lilliandil explode into a comet or something? I have absolutely NO idea what is going on here. Looks very LOTR-ish.
31. "return to hope" Please. Do not mock me.
32. There goes that flippin' faun again. Looks like the Lone Islands & gumpas. Lucy with a bow! As long as it's not Susan's I really really like this
33. "return to magic" You mean, Harry Potter Wizard Magic? Cause that's what it looks like.
34. Ok, what the heck is THAT???!? Is Coriakin turning visible? Or is he made of clear Jello?
35. "this place just gets weirder and weirder.." Yeah, and so does this trailer! Some people think this is Eustace talking, but I detect a slight Scottish accent. I don't think it's Scrubb.
36. The DUFFLEPUDS!!! I have LONG been awaiting to see them! And they look....awful. Blech. Yuck! I will give them the benefit of the doubt and assume the CGI is not quite finished. And they do look quite cute, hopping about like frogs...and there's Eustace! he looks like he's wearing Ed's sweater from the beginning of LWW.
37. "return to Narnia" as if we didn't know....
38. *egasp* THE SILVER SEA!!!!!!!!!!! IT LOOKS GORGEOUS!!!! And....fake.
39. "You have returned for a reason" yeah, but it seems like you don't want to tell us what it is. (Reep is SO cute standing on the boat! aww!)
40. the Wall of Water at the End of the World! Aslan looks pretty good here. (I'm trying to be positive.)
41. "the adventure begins now" Will you SHUT UP PLEASE?!??!?!
42. Ok...I didn't think Susan and Peter would turn up in Narnia, but...WHY ARE THEY WEARING NARNIAN CLOTHES? I will wait to see what this turns out to be. *sigh*
43. and the characteristic roar at the end.... (don't get me wrong, I like continuity
44. NARNIA! No, wait....I see cliffs and ice and a ship...it must be POTC 3!!
45. "Directed by Michael Apted" Sort of reminds me of the way they put out signs in front of a lousy restaurant, telling people that they're "under new management!" It's as if they HAVE to make sure that ppl understand this is not another Son of Adam film....*rolls eyes* And the way he pronounces 'Apted' is weird.
46. Ok! That was it? Alright, can I ask a question here? WHY WASN't CASPiAN GIVEN ANY LINES?!??!?!?!?!?!?
Thank you for reading if you got this far. I am still holding out hope for a better trailer and a better movie. So far we've got a mix-up of...hmm, let's see....Alice in Wonderland, Bridge to Terebithia, Aladdin, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Caribbean....have I forgotten anyone?
~~
Here are my first impressions of the trailer...
Postive:
- I love the room filling with water, and Eustace pulling the painting off the wall. The whole scene looks awesome, one of the most exciting entrances into Narnia yet.
- Lucy looks older, and so does Edmund. I like that.
- Caspian looks awesome. Way cooler than I expected. Not that I didn't expect him to be that way, he just surprised me with his "kingliness".
- Eustace looks just as amazing, what we saw of him anyway.
- Reepicheep's voice isn't noticeably different, thankfully.
- The Magician's Book scene looks perfect! I love it!
- Aslan will (hopefully) be in the movie a little more than he was in the book...
- The utter east & the sea of lilies = beautiful!
- The dufflepuds look great...all two seconds of them.
Negative:
- The Dawn Treader painting scene looks rather dull to me at first glance and not what I expected. Perhaps that's because it's meant for 3D?
- Edmund is doing the whole "I'm king" thing too.
- What in the world have they done to Lilliandil?
- Where is Ramandu?!
- Caspian & Eustace had no lines.
- The White Witch's random (and green) appearance.
- No mention of the 7 lords.
- Why is Aslan on the Dawn Treader?
- Edmund's glowing sword (are there orcs nearby?)
My feelings are very mixed at this point. I'm excited, yet apprehensive. The trailer is finally here and I'm not sure what to think of it...

I loved the trailer, my favorite part was when the dufflepods were jumping and Eustace said "this place keeps getting weirder and weirder"
I didn't think too much of Ed saying "Squirt, I'm a king" reminded me of Peter in PC, and when Ramandu's daughter said "the fate of Narnia depends on you" I was like 'what ' Aslan somehow didn't look as real as in the first two parts and what was the white witch doing there !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But all in all I'm sooo glad the trailer is out and I can hardly wait for the movie
always be humble and kind
Gymfan's last picture of Aslan on page five makes me feel a whole lot better!!
It looks as if Aslan's Country is far behind him so they have not yet reached it. It seems as though they are standing on small land with only sand, which means Peter and Susan will not be there yet and Aslan could possibly tell Caspian to go back to his ship at this point to go back to Lilliandil.
It seems as though my theory is correct that once Aslan leads Lucy, Edmund and Eustace into his own country Lucy and Edmund will search around the real Cair Paravel in that world thus invisioning Peter and Susan beside them as they walk through it. Now that makes sense! Don't you think?
Long Live King Caspian & Queen Liliandil Forever!
Jill+Tirian! Let there be Jilrian!
The VotDT trailer didnt show anything that was a huge departure from the book...just artistic interpretations of scenes that people may have pictured differently.
Edmund does not sound bad at all. Just dissapointed. He's a king and he feels like everyone thinks he's useless.
The trailer was choppy, and a bit too childish. I know they don't want to make it darker like PC but it seemed a bit overkill.
I wish we saw more Eustace. But PC's adveritising of new characters didnt do so well for that film, so Apted's team is once again going out of their way to advertise the Pevensies, the Witch, and Aslan. Thats why Eustace, Caspian, and Lilliandil have such brief appearances.
I did not need to be told the trailer was directed by Michael Apted. Like who cares? I mean, if he was a huge big name directer that would draw in crowds like Steven Spielberg, James Cameron, Chrisiphor Nolan, or Peter Jackson...yeah I could understand them mentioning the director. But who's Apted?
Overall the scenes I saw in the trailer werent too bad, but they didnt flow well. And it seemed a bit too kiddie. And I felt like I was watching a promo for a Disneyworld ride with the 3D effects. When Lilliandil said the fate of Narnia rests on you, I felt like it was when the tourguides pretended that we were important in the story of an attraction at Disneyworld.
Btw, where is the Dragon and the Sea Serpant?
Winter Is Coming
yay! WW's part was just as I thought it would be! she's Edmund's nightmare in The Dark Island! yay! that is going to be so creepy! and Lilliandil (RD) is so cool! she's perfect! yay!
