I saw the trailer before my second viewing of Toy Story 3. It looks and sounds better on my computer in HD.
I know you are kidding Book, but it does seem like they think Lucy needs a cute little friend and she just doesn't.
I still don't know what to make of the MLG. I don't feel strongly either way. There just isn't enough evidence to draw any kind of conclusion about her. She could be good, she could be bad.
It wouldn't surprise me if the Dark Island moves around. All indications seem to show that the Dark Island is really the EVUL SOUL-EATING ISLAND OF DOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!11!!!
Oh no... No way. I'll need to see a lot more evidence before believing that. That would be dreadful.

Funny, I thought the opposite. I was way more impressed with the look and feel of the trailer on the big screen.

Despite Bookwyrm's amusing phrasing, i believe he was actually being serious, as that is pretty much accurate as to what the current state of available evidence seems to be telling us.
I put together a compilation of all available evidence on what the new added plot for the movie may possibly be given what we know so far over on this topic here, and yeah, it pretty much does suggest that! (though not in quite such words )
Even Josh, for all his wild crazy theories, did seem to have it pretty much spot on as to what the raw evidence is telling us (3 posts up from here ^^^) - that the Dark Island is the Unfathomable Fate, that finding the Seven Lords and their Seven Swords is somehow crucial to overcoming this unfathomable fate, and that finding the missing Lone Islands Slaves (including Gael's Mum and Rhince's Wife) is heavilly intertwined with this central objective.
For those of you who saw the trailer on the big screen in 3D, how did the 3D look? I know its somewhat hard to judge based only on the trailer, but I'm just curious if the 3D is noticeably bad, or good, at this point. This could be a small indication of how the finished converted film will look.
I saw Toy Story 3 in 2D, and they actually didn't even show the VDT trailer beforehand, so I have yet to see it in theaters. However, a user on the narniafans forum wrote that they saw the trailer in 3D and that the 3D looked really bad compared to the Legend of the Guardians trailer which played right before the VDT trailer. I have seen that trailer in 3D, before How to Train Your Dragon , and the 3D in that trailer is perfect.
The dark island really could be moving around, considering the "malevolent mist threatening to engulf the land" from the official synopsis.
Could you quote the synopsis again?
Maybe the dark island isn't an island, but is something that moves around. That is an interesting idea. The darkness could come to an island and people would get stolen and then the darkness would go somewhere else. Eustace could be stolen in the darkness. I wonder how it will explain why he became a dragon.
Maybe they are trying to collect the seven swords to stop the darkness. But what do the swords of seven random people that left Narnia have to do with anything?
I enjoy this idea as well.
PS. I am reading your post icarus in the other thread.
PSS. Yes. I like it. I am all in on that theory. Thanks for sharing.
There are no clouds in the sky. There is only the open sun and the Lord watches.
Ok, correct me if I'm wrong, but Eustace was turned into a dragon because it was pretty much a reflection of his inner badness right?
Dark Island is pretty much a reflection of your worst nightmare.
Maybe in the movie Dark Island takes all the worst parts of you and manifests it in different ways. In order to defeat the evil within Dark Island, you must destroy the evil within yourself. Hence, the "you are all about to be tested" line.
I have no idea what that would have to do with the seven lords/ swords quest. Perhaps it has nothing really to do with it except that it is the only quest that will fit everyone on the journey in such a way as to test them where they need it most.
Anyone ever read the book House by Frank Peretti and Ted Dekker, or seen the movie based on it? It had a similar theme. They had to defeat a haunted house in order to get out of it but the house was a mirror of everything evil in them.
They may be trying to do something like this in VDT with Aslan as the hero. I would hate it if they made it all about how you are strong enough to overcome your weaknesses all by yourself. Aslan must be the hero or else His line at the end doesn't hold much meaning.
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1273&start=0 <- for the synopsis.
And now with these ideas and their supporting evidence popping up, I feel even more uneasy about VDT than I did after reading the leaked script. Oh my.
The sad thing is it makes sense. Dec, I'm fully convinced the seven swords subplot IS to destroy this "malevolent mist". Now if we take this clue from the leaked script, the darkness could be the "curse on Caspians forefathers". Make the seven swords of the seven lords some ancient swords with some significance, they certainly could be related to "caspians forefathers".
Yeah. I think it does make sense. I haven't been keeping up to date on all the discussions because i am hoping to like this film so i hadn't read that theory before and it seems like a good one.
In the book, at least in the version i have i realize that there are differences in this part depending on the version, but in the book the dark island does disappear after they follow the albatross out of the darkness.
I had no idea that this theory was floating around. Here i thought i came up with a good idea and there are multiple threads on the idea. I think i need to pay more attention. I will now read the evil mist thread.

I think it was mentioned that they had long discussions on the importance of grave. The whole seven swords to get rid of the mist seems different to that, but if the grace of Eustace's undragoning is still there it might work out. They haven't in the past done a very good job with treating Aslan like he is God in the films. We will see.

That actually makes alot of sense. I wouldn't doubt they'd do something similar to that.

I'm grasping at straws now. But what if Narnia still has at least a little hint of prejudice. It's mostly peaceful, but under the surface the Telmarines and the Narnians still don't trust each other. If the "Evil Mist" reaches Narnia it will manifest and multiply that flaw and a civil war would break out and Narnia would destroy itself. What if that's the unfathomable fate? Then Narnia isn't in complete turmoil. All is mostly at peace. It would be prevention of danger, doom and gloom rather than Narnia already being in some sort of trouble.
I don't understand where the evil mist has come from though. Maybe that is the connection to the white witch. I just am not sure if it makes sense that there is just evil mist for no reason. I guess if it has to do with something the seven lords did that caused this evil mist to appear.
I just don't like the idea of hey there is just evil mist. There should be a causer behind the evil mist, not just hey evil mist. I don't think they should make the causer the white witch either. They are giving her too much power if they do that since she is dead and all.
My thoughts are all over the place.

I'm not reading anymore in this thread for fear that I will fall into deep depression. Either that or I will go crazy.
Check out "The Magician's Nephew" and "The Last Battle" trailers I created!

I think i might have gone crazy. I have to just enjoy the insane theories. I have been convinced for a long time that there are going to be major changes in the film.

Well they did have a cause for the mist...The Lady of the Green Kirtle. But due to huge fan complaints, the cause will either be
A. the seven Lords...I don't know why...maybe there is something evil about their swords or maybe they are sorcerers
B. A new Witch...they said they wouldnt do that so maybe they decided to make
C. A new WIZARD
D. THE WHITE WITCH. They said they wouldnt do LotGK and they said they wouldnt do a new witch. So what do we see in the trailer? THE OLD WITCH!!!! Tilda said her time filming wasnt that long, but then they could always have her be some spirit, with her threat being mostly unseen. In my opinion "D" is the worst option.
E. There is no cause. Its just an evil threat for the sake of having something to tie the voyage together and it makes no sense.
Personally, I don't see what the problem would be in having the LotGK be the one causing the mist, as long as this plot doesnt take away from key moments in the book. I mean, the evil mist is already a huge change, so making LotGK the cause of it only adds a bit of sense to a ridiculous plot.
Winter Is Coming
Currently, I don't think we're wrong about the absurd mist monster plot. I really really hope we're barking up the wrong tree, but with multiple people on here examining the evidence and coming to the same conclusions and the first trailer doing nothing to make us think differently, I don't think we are.
EDIT: As much as it pains me to admit it, Josh is right. If they're going this route, having the LotGK be the Big Bad behind it all wouldn't be that much more ridiculous than having some random cloud of EVUL Mist!!11!! floating around.
