People, people, might I stress something very important. This trailer wasn't very informative about the actual plot and story except to say that they obviously haven't finished it yet - what with their lower grade animation. One thing that it does stress is the fact that this story is more character based. (The lack of magnificent action scenes should testify to this.) That, to me, is the most important thing. So, don't panic people. Further more, have we all forgotten Tirian's report about the film? Did he not have a rather favorable report? Also, every other person who saw the same thing as Tirian had a favorable report. Do they know something we don't know? Obviously, or else we wouldn't all be freaking out! B-) Wait till we have more information.

Good point Watziznehm. It all seems to be more character based then "epic battle" based. ;)

I aggree with many of the points that have already been mentioned, even though I only had time to see the first page in here.

What we basically have here is great potential. Potential for good things, great things, bad things, and horrible things.

The scene of Lucy with the Magician's book is as close to the VDT book as we will probably get. There is the potential for a great thing. ;)

The scenes with Edmund acting "I'm a king"-ish as in PC Peter, or "If there are no wars to fight..." could be potential for a bad thing. :-o

The limited Eustace and Caspian shots could be potential for horrible thing (not enough in the movie) or a great thing, because they are keeping it under wraps until later. :-$

The limited CGI effects could be a horrible or great thing. We don't know if they are done with it all yet. :-s

The appearance of the FOUR Pevensies could also be great or horrible. If it is flashbacks, dreams, or imaginations the movie makers can do anything they want and get away with it. This may not even go against Lewis's wishes for the book. But if they drag it into the story and make it a focal point................ potential for horrible!!! =)) :((

The most irritating part of this trailer is that it started to build and actually could've been a decent trailer, it built up to Ed's line "If there's no war to fight...then Why are we here?" thenit just went downhill. In my opinion why bother having that line in the trailer if you arent going to reveal at least SOMETHING about the plot. You cant ask a question like that in a trailer and not give an answer, leave the non-answered ones to: "Will they survive?" or "What happens next?" don't leave the question "What's this movie about?" not answered IF the question is asked in the trailer.

Q: If there's no war why are we here.
A: You are all about to be tested.

Was it Apted who said the theme of the movie was temptation? I think the question was answered well enough considering it is only the teaser trailer. It lets you know there's a new Narnia movie and it makes you curious. That's the whole point of a teaser trailer. Mission accomplished. Good marketing.

If you look at the comments on youtube they are mostly possitive, though I don't advise it because some of the people curse a lot and such.

Honestly, the first time I watched it, it struck me as cheesy, cheep, and just not good. Thus, I must give it a thumbs down. :-$

I mean, it's okay for a teaser trailer, but I expect something much better than this when the Official Trailer releases. It was extremely unsubstantial in my opinion.

The Dark Foggy Island of the Green Kirtle: What the heck?! Green fog-lines flying around people and the Dark Island isn't even DARK!!!

Jadis of the Green Kirtle: Green eyes. Sound familiar anyone? Oh, quite, I'm sure. This is definitely foreshadowing The Silver Chair. Which would be fine with moi if they made it next. The Magician's Nephew would be slightly more acceptable for them to make next, however.

Coriakin: Sounds great. I don't think they're trying to set him up as the villain, though.

Everything else, well, I suppose you guys will have to live without my mighty analysis. I can't handle it. But! I must say, for the most part, it appears that they are sticking to the book quite well. I still am expecting great things!

I met Georgie and Skandar AND saw the film in one evening.

"You will be tested" doesnt say anything about what supposed to happen IMO. What i meant regarding plot was like in the LWW Teaser we knew that four kids were supposed to go to Narnia to stop the White Witch. In PC They have to return and stop the new power in Narnia and there's a guy named Prince Caspian that helps them...VoDT-2 of the kids and some random other kid get back to Narnia and get on a boat called the "Dwn Treader" Why?....To be tested. Wow sounds like a great movie. Even in a teaser you're supposed to give some sort of idea of plot and story which in my opinion "You will be tested" doesnt provide the answer to. Another example of a teaser that still covers the basic plot was the teaser for HP6: They only showed one basic scene from the movie, and the plot of spelled out pretty well. They have to return to Voldemort's memories to provide with the infromation they need to stop him. Voyage of the Treader's teaser goes into no detail which even a teaser should have slight details as to the plot. "You will tested" is so vague it doesnt say anything. I dont get drawn in like the other movies drew me in.If i had never heard of Narnia before this trailer would tell me nothing about the story's plot. Which, trailers and teaser are supposed to give you some general idea of, not go into complete detail but at least try to sum it up in one sentence. "You will be tested" is a terrible answer. In LWW, and PC they gave us a basic plot in the teaser trailers, Vodt they didn't...how hard would it have been to say "We're going on a journey to find the 7 Lost lords" in they're on words. Thats all I would've asked for.

I soooo very much hope so! Come on, Caspian is practically the main character there (his voyage, his oddysey, exploration of his character), while Eustace needs to be 'sold' as a really endearing character for SC to be greenlit!

As per the effects, I am fairly sure even some of the bits we saw in the teaser weren't yet completely done. So no worries :)

:((

Umm...maybe because both previous times they've been brought into Narnia it's been to fight a war? They even ask this in the book, though not in those exact words. Their first assumption is that Narnia must be in trouble or they wouldn't be there.

And a side note about Lilliandil: It has never, ever, EVER made sense to me that we never learn the name of Caspian's wife, the mother of his son. Remember, Caspian and this woman fall in love and marry. A modern audience will not accept this happening if he doesn't know her name, and many (probably ribald) jokes about it would ensue. As to the sound of the name, it sounds very much like it fits in with the other Narnian stars: Tarva, Alambil, Lilliandil. (I don't know if Coriakin and Ramandu are their real names or simply names they use, but they still fit.)

I've noticed folks here have a penchant for tearing the adaptations to absolute shreds in fits of purism or just plain disagreement, unrivaled by even the LOTR purists. Relax. Accept that changes will be made, trust that the screenwriters did think about them, and also remember that they don't always have the final say in how things go. Making a book into an adaptation is a collaborative process based on compromise between many different parties. And this is an adaptation, not an exact representation. It's the vision of one group of people and one director. All of us could make VDT into a film and regardless of how close we stick to the book, each one will be different.

I'm looking forward to this film the same way I looked forward to the others. This was a hype trailer meant to get the general public to go "oh, hey. Another Narnia film. Cool." The primary goal of any advertising is to catch attention. It does that. The first two had totally new worlds to introduce to the public: LWW had Narnia in general and the main characters. PC had the Telmarine Narnia. VDT has only 1 new major character to introduce. The world and situation is already set from the previous film. I would have liked to see more set-up at the start, but I'm thinking that will happen later.

I soooo very much hope so! Come on, Caspian is practically the main character there (his voyage, his oddysey, exploration of his character), while Eustace needs to be 'sold' as a really endearing character for SC to be greenlit!

Actually, I don't think Caspian is the main character. We spend absolutely no significant time in his head in the book. It's mostly devoted to Lucy and Eustace, and Caspian is sort of commented on by the other characters. I am hoping they really get into Eustace, though. His character arc is so huge, and vital to the rest of the story.

k, I LOVE this trailer theres just 2 thing I'm not happy about

1. I don't like at all that they brought back Susan and Peter that alone goes away from the book in every way possible

2. the scene with the WW with her flying around everywhere, though it looks cool, I think it looks like the death eaters from HP6, they look exactly the same just different colors

my favorite part though is the magician's house scene, I never noticied how much Georgie looked like Anna!!

Actually, it's not so much spending time in Caspian's head - we didn't get much of it in PC either, did we? - but the amount of threads connected to him. We observe him, see him, watch him, live the adventure which was his plan and idea, see his feats and failures. The amount of time spent in a character's head is not the ranking of that character's importance. VoDT is filled with threads, issues and experiences connecting to Caspian, he is to me the main character of it - travel to seek the Lords, potentially to the end of the world (by the way, I'm thrilled he gets there in the film), his development as a leader outside his kingdom, his cunningness, adventurous nature, his personal demons (resemblance to Miraz, such little bits Lewis puts in not without a reason, I rather think because he was so encouraging of fanfiction on his own works, he opens the gate for imagination of the readers), and others. It's his oddyssey, so to speak :)

I have been meaning to post in here but have not got the chance till now.....

First Scene: I don't have many thoughts about this one :) .....

Painting Scene: I thought is was really cool how you can see the water just at the very edges, then it starts pouring out, then Eustace tries to take is down and Lu and Ed try to stop him and then I love when the camera goes underwater and you can see them swimming.

Reepicheep Scene: I always liked Reep however ;)) If you look right behind him you can see someone on the ground, it looks kind of like Eustace. That made me laugh!

White Witch Scene: I don't mind if she is in the movie as long as she is ONLY in the Dark Island. Otherwise I will not be happy [-( .

Lucy At The Magic Book Scene: I thought this whole scene was really cool! Especially when it is snowing!

I love when the music kicks in when Reepicheep starts running up the mast!

Ramandu's Daughter Scene: I think that she is glowing a bit too much, and Edmund holding the glowing sword? That confused me! :-

The Fawn doing the the front flip is pretty cool!

Then The dufflepuds scene is really cool! I love what Eustace says!

The lilies are beautiful! ;))

The wave is SO COOL!

Okay the four Pevensies walking? Why are Peter and Susan there?!

ROFL!!! I went back and saw that. Either he dropped something or he's being a big wimp. It definitely looks hilarious either way. I can't wait to see Eustace in this movie.

It looks like his head is on the ship and people feet are right there next him. If I were one of them and some one was throwing up on deck I'd move. He's probably having some anxiety attack where he can't breathe normally for being there when they were just in a house in Cambridge. Whiplash can do that.

Seasickness doesn't take over until a little later.

As I'm in the middle of my exams, I had no time to see it yesterday. So, now, with the weekend, I saved myself an entire day, and I watched LWW and PC again as a build-up to the first VDT footage.

What a bummer! This is like nothing I imagined. It's AWFUL! I actually thought I was dreaming, that I would really wake up soon. But I didn't.
I now it's very pessimistic to start with the bad things, but there just aren't many good things to talk about.

The bad:
- The opening of the trailer was horrible. The scene were Ed tries to join the army is shot in a very Lars von Trier-like way. It's like they gave someone who was there a camera and said: now you choose an angle. The angels used are really dull and boring. This is especially so if you compare it to the rest of the trailer, where they obviously try to make it look very Tim Burton-esque. And why does edmund want to subscribe? Is it because Peter went to war (that would be totally against the lesson he learned in PC) or because his father hasn't returned? Or are they just repeating the peter-plot from PC? terrible. Also, the way he is presented, with clothes that are to big, make him look ridiculous. It does appear that the "I'm a king" line is not exactly in the place it will be, because his lips aren't moving in the shot at the bike. So maybe in the end, it won't be as cheesy as it looks. But the entire scene feels as if it is a fan film, it really comes across as if the people who made it have no idea what they were doing.
-the painting scene was bad too. The effects were bad, but they can improve them. The acting seemed bad too, but I sort of got the feeling that that was because of some poor editing. When Lucy feels the wind coming out and then she yells: "Edmund, the painting", that was terrible editing too, because the water was already coming out of it. I guess this will be different in the film. Edmund's reaction to Eustace was great.
-The dawn treader looks very fake and plastic-like. It should look like it has been used before to make it a bit more credible. Also, I got the feeling the color correction wasn't done yet, which makes the entire trailer looks fake.
- the shot of Aslan in the glass/mirror is horrible. He looks completely like the BBC ASlan in this shot, and he has a floating head, which looks funny.
-The minotaur is hideous, he doesn't look good at all. All the CGI models look like they are different from the previous films. Reepicheep has another mouth and looks way to fluffy, Aslan looks fake and different (stupid, because he was great in PC). His roar at the end of the trailer is just horrible. It's like the camera makes thin uncontrolled movement. The minotaurs seemed to have been completely redesigned, and not in a good way.
-The dark Island looks more like an Island with a lot of mist surrounding it. Very disappointing. I really expected a cloudlike darkness, like night during the day.
- Lucy yelling reepicheep isn't good. It could be the montage.
-the map is clearly one of those 3D effects I can't stand. 3D should be used to draw the audience in the film, not to make something come out of it.
-The dark Island shots are unfinished I guess. It could be a good approach, if they make the mist darker, and make it look realistic. it just seems unfinished. The White Witch has NO use. Did anyone notice What she said?! "I can make you my King". Edmund already IS a king!!! and she has green eyes. Don't, please don't tell me she is... I won't say it, it's to awful.
-The magician's book: the blowing over the cover looks a bit fake. I don't like the shot of Lucy going through the book. Don't know why, but it just does not feel like lucy to me.The snow does not work in the trailer, but I believe it could be a very powerful moment in the film.
-Why do they keep saying EPIC. the books aren't that epic at all!
-Ramandu's Daughter is way to bright. If you want a good example of a shining star in a film, watch stardust, it is done beautifully.
-The faith of Narnia depends on you. AAARCH!!!!!
-Rindon glowing: Why? Will this get them of the dark Island? And why does it look so World of Warcraft- like. that does not work in a film.
-Ramandu's Daughter can actually change into a star? That is not how I imagined her.
-The fighting faun reminds me a LOT of the faun in the PC video game. He had a combo that looked just like it. and why do they fight again? that's not the point of the Lone Islands.
-Why is Lucy using Susan's bow. As it seems to be in daylight, I guess she is aiming at the sea serpent. Again, opposite from the book, then. The Sea serpent is defeated by outsmartening him.
-Dufflepuds: both garden and dufflepuds themselves look like a Tim Burton copy.
-The border to Aslan's country: The water isn't high enough, and it looks very strange.
- the Four Pevensies: I have absolutely no idea what this could be, but I certainly do not like it.
-Aslan's roar. The animation looks horrible and the camera is doing a very strange movement. Also, I have the feeling this shot is made especially for the trailer. It's at the end of the world, so I don't see why he would roar. Is this just in tradition with the previous trailers? Because those shots did make the film!
- the montage of the trailer itself is terrible. It portrays the film as if it is stupid. There is no climactic feel to the ending, which makes viewers not really enthusiast. And the Harry Potter feel Glumpuddle described is all because of the terrible music. I've seen a thousand of fan trailers for VDT that were better edited, that told something about the story, and that made me feel enthusiast about the film, without actually having any footage.
-Due to the bad montage the film comes across as just another fairy tale. It looks like a movie of which the filmmakers no it isn't gonna be a success, but who make it anyways. in the trailer, the film appears to not take itself serious. That is necessary in a fantasy film to make the whole film believable!
-some scenes seem to have color correction, and other do not. I hope this doesn't mean it's awfully done in those bad shots, but that they just have had no time to do it.
-not enough screentime for Caspian and Eustace.

The good:
- In all scenes he is in, Eustace seems to deliver a strong performance. Great!
-The sail of the DT looks good.
-the helicopter-shot of what I guess are the lone islands seem finished and do look gorgeous. If the entire film end up looking like this shot, I'll be happy!
-Reepicheep has one line, but his voice seems pretty much the same.
-There are no wars to fight!
-I stick to it: Caspian looks good with a beard.
-The book of incantations scene has some shots that could be good.
- I live the shot of Reep climbing the mast, I just don't get why he doesn't clime the dragon's head.
- the Narrowhaven shot looks cool to, it too looks finished and it too looks as great as the lone Islands shot.
-the lilies look amazing, just like I imagined.

So, overall, not happy with the teaser, but I blame the montage, the footage looks fine, although I'm not happy with some changes. I hope the first trailer is better than this one. Does anybody have any Idea when it would be here? I need to be comforted!!!
