The three Lords sleeping on Ramandu's Island aren't dead though in the book. If they were in the movie, I would assume that we would have a scene in which we see them waking up, otherwise non-readers would probably be confused about that. The fact that they've cast two Lords, but not the sleeping ones makes me think they've decided to kill them off. Annoying, but predictable. Honestly, it never made much sense to me how Caspian sailing to the end of the world and back could wake them up.
I watched the trailer and loved it. Lucy really looks like Susan wich is very good. I loved the Dufflepuds. I wish there was more of Eustuce, Edmund, and Caspian. We only get one close up of Caspian which was kind of sad. I really didn't like the whole blue sword thing. And Lilliandil looks a little bit creepy. I loved the Book of Incantations. It looked so mystical and wonderful.
Overall I am happy with the trailer, and I hope the movie will be just as good.

I also have not read all of the posts, but I have read some, and I must say that I am quite relieved that I am not the only one that was slightly disappointed with the trailer. For a general Narnia fan, it looks great. Cinematically, though, it needs a lot of work. There were several things in there that I felt could have been done much better. For instance, the painting. The water rushing out of it was kind of cool, but I had kind of hoped it would have been more like the book, where it grows bigger and bigger and looks more and more like the real thing, with wind whipping in their faces and the waves moving in and out of the picture. Oh, well, that's just my personal opinion.
I see what you mean and understand it. For me, I prefer it this way. Reading the book was one thing, and it was a great moment I loved how it happened. But I've been worried how that would be handled in the movie, given I didn't think it would look so well. I much prefer how they did it, with the water rushing out and filling up the room.
OK, just a few more points:
1. Do NOT trust anything actually said in the trailer. Trailers are notorious for mixing sound clips and adding lines that aren't actually in the movie.
2. Remember what Dark Island really is. Edmund is not being tempted by the White Witch. Dark Island is where dreams come true. The WW is part of a nightmare that Edmund has. So despite the fact that he has defeated the WW, it doesn't mean that he can't have nightmares about her or her temptation.
3. Edmund is not acting like Peter in PC. He is trying to enlist to save his country at a time where the German Wolf Pack is patrolling the Atlantic and the Allies are invading/are getting ready to invade Sicily. He's not getting in fist-fights, he's trying to fight a war because he knows he knows how to fight a war, despite his age. That's not exactly Peter-esque. And remember point 1.
4. We don't know where Peter and Susan appear in the movie. It could be a dream at the Dark Island, it could be part of the Magician's magic, it could be a phantom at the End of the World. We don't know. There is no logical reason to panic.
5. To repeat: There is no need to panic.
I definitely agree.
My favourite parts are:
- The beginning at Cambridge - I like the setting, and Edmund and Lucy are perfect. I don't mind at all Edmund trying to enlist, I can imagine him doing this, as many boys actually did or tried to do, and it doesn't sound like Peter at all, Peter sounded much more arrogant and demanding.
- Coriakin's library - it's wonderful! And I liked how they did with the beauty spell, the transition is really well made.
- The lily sea - right how I had imagined it.
I didn't really mind Ramandu's Daughter - not getting used to Lillliandil yet. The glowing and so on didn't convince me, I had always pictured her as more human, but I don't want to make an opinion until I see more.
And Peter and Susan being there, well I really liked it, I'm sure they won't return to Narnia and I am expecting to see how they appear. Don't forget that trailers mix up scenes and that leads to misleading conclusions (in the PC trailers, for example, Susan threw an arrow just before the scene of the White Witch, giving the impression that it was she who destroyed the witch).
All in all, I am not upset with the trailer, on the contrary, I am pretty excited now.
Remember the BBC version? Yeah. That wasn't so hot. I love this interpretation of the ship in the painting. I think it works nicely and it's great to see Eustace's house as incredibly bland and 'safe' as it should (book-wise).

I just watched the trailer on my work computer which is a 27 inch iMac. So I was able to go all the way up to 1080 (and it actually fit). While this isn't a high def screen, the clarity and size made the glow from Lilliandill look a little better as well as the lilly sea.
Should be interesting to hear reports from when people get to see it on the big screen.
I haven't read any comments yet, but have just watched the trailer (I've been on holiday for a week without any internet connection - I knew it would turn up while I was away!) so I'll give my first thoughts.
I likes. I was so nervous as it started I wanted it to be good (I realise it's only the trailer, not the actual film). Edmund enlisting, or attempting to, makes perfect sense to me - he's a King! The water coming out of the picture looks really good. Is it just me, or can anybody else not tell the difference in Reepicheep's voice? I thought I was going a little bit insane, but I suppose it's a good thing!
Faun's a fightin'. I'm guessing that's the Lone Islands bit. I can cope. Also, the White Witch & Edmund, I can certainly cope with that - I could go so far as to say I'm glad they added it. What else? Oh Beautification! Soooooo much better than the BBC version I'm glad to say. Lillies!
So Lillandil (Is that spelt right?) talks to them about destiny. Fair do's, ties in with Reepicheep's poem/dream idea.
Then, in the end - all of the Pevensies. I'm going with this is at the end. Can't think of where else it would be. I have no explanation, but I'm sure it'll make sense. I suppose it's just a nice way to bookmark the end of the Pevensies Narnia adventures (discounting HHB & LB ).
Yes. I loves it. Loves it, Loves it.
I just re-watched the trailer and noticed when it shows the Lily Sea, Caspian is in the small boat. What is he doing there??? The whole point is that he is not supposed to go to the end of the world. Just some food for thought.

He. I have just read the rest of the comments on this thread. Depressingly negative on the whole. I watched it again and no - you cannot dampen my spirit.
The main points I found people had issues with were:
1. The CGI wasn’t too good. Well, this might be true. I’m one of those people that can tell exceptionally good animation apart from exceptionally bad, but not fairly bad from fairly good.
2. Edmund going down the ‘Peter route’. I think a lot of people have also hit the nail on the head here, it’s not the same. Ed’s disappointed rather than angry, plus it’s not too out of character – this is Ed’s trait that was stolen by Peter really. Think of Ed in LLW & Deathwater Island, it happens. I’m sure it won’t be anywhere near the Peter Scale of things, not by a long shot.
3. I hear talk that the Pevensies (Peter & Susan) are not in Narnia. Flashbacks maybe?
4. Glowing things. Namely Rhindon & Lilliandil. I won’t lie – I didn’t notice it as anything out of the ordinary, just your standard ‘magic glow’. As for the White Witch looking green – well, green’s a creepy colour, Dark Island is a creepy place, I see no problems.
5. Aslan on the Ship. This shows how much I was not paying attention – I only spotted this on second viewing. It’s only to Lucy though. We’ll have to wait and see on this one I think.
6. Eustace! Yes – this is one I agree on. The trailer was very Edmund & Lucy centric. I’m very happy to see Ed with more screen time, but Eustace and Caspian (No Lines!) need more – I’m rooting for some more scenes in another trailer further down the line.
7. Edmund v the White Witch. I think it was Lirenel that summed this up for me. Ed’s not tempted, but dreams that he is tempted. Think about it people, you know it makes sense!
I'm not going to pretend the teaser was great, even good, but it doesn't warrant the negativity that now taints the forums. It puts quite a damper on things. It's almost like a rehash of the Internet after LOST finished. Ouchies. It's times like these you have to put things in perspective and see the forest for the trees, or is it the other way around? Either way save the trees!
On the whole I was more pleased with LOST's ending than the VDT teaser.
I must say it is ever so grand to hear some positive views. Just marvellous.

Okay, well, here's the deal. I've watched the trailer a few more times. Previously, I was disappointed and I disliked extremely this trailer, Now.....it's okay. Just okay.
I think what we have to do here is take this trailer for what it is. An entirely random montage of unfinished shots from "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" I do not think we can judge the film from this terrible piece of marketing, which as a marketing piece it is terrible, there's nothing regarding the plot of the film in this teaser at all, which even teaser trailers are SUPPOSED to have. Anyways, I cant help but think about all the stuff we AREN'T getting in this trailer. Eustace as a dragon...ALOT of the islands, the 7 lords plot, etc. We're still missing ALOT, and I'm not ready to judge the movie along the lines of some random montage just to tell the general public that there's a 3rd Narnia movie on it's way. Which, is really all this was. The most irritating part of this trailer is that it started to build and actually could've been a decent trailer, it built up to Ed's line "If there's no war to fight...then Why are we here?" thenit just went downhill. In my opinion why bother having that line in the trailer if you arent going to reveal at least SOMETHING about the plot. You cant ask a question like that in a trailer and not give an answer, leave the non-answered ones to: "Will they survive?" or "What happens next?" don't leave the question "What's this movie about?" not answered IF the question is asked in the trailer.
And come on, i'm sure we'd all rather have THIS now, then wait like 2 or 3 more months for a good trailer. Seriously, we FINALLY got a glimpse (emphasis on glimpse) at footage from Dawn Treader...let's not be COMPLETELY negative. Now, even though we do all have things that we're worried about (I know I do) let's all just try to calm down, and hold them until we know more...because this trailer told us basically nothing about how the film is ACTUALLY going to go.
All in all, this is bad piece of marketing that shouldn't reflect the film. We have what...6 months until the film's release? They have PLENTY of time to clean up the CGI work (or do you guys not remember how many times Aslan's size changed in the Prince Caspian trailers, or that one trailer where Susan was shooting a Bow &....Where's the arrow?! And let's not forget that they were pretty far in the game when that happened.) So yeah, CGI has plenty of time...Coloring of shots PLENTY of time, and plus I've noticed in a few trailers that sometmes i'll hear a line and I'm like "Wow, that delivery was awful!" and then in the movie it's an entirely different take. LWW is a good example of this, Peter's Mrs. Macready line was different in the movie fom the one used in the trailers, so for all we know some of these may not even be the final takes. So yeah, im chalking this terrible trailer and negativity to a BAD piece of marketing....and to be honest it would've been worse if Disney had made the trailer (As I recall they made Bridge to Terabithia look like an Action/Fantasy/Adventure, whenever it was actually not about that at all. Only like 15 minutes of the entire film was fantastical in some way. So basically Disney crammed all the fantasy stuff into the trailers, and didnt even really sell the movie for what it was.) So yeah, my FINAL word...bad advertising. No comment on anything else, this is almost as decieveing as they get guys.

I have a 15inch screen and pushed it on 1080p and it looked fantastic too me. I love the shots of RD (Not a fan of Lilliandill) and how she glows. I love the shots of the lilly seas, it is incredible and breath taking. I also love the wide shot of the Dawn Treader at the Lone Islands (I believe it is the Lone Islands). I can't wait to see it on the big screen. I remember seeing PC in the big screen (the first teaser trailer) and it was incredible.
I think that Ed acting like "I was a king" is pretty much, in his character. The problem that we all have is that it wasn't in Peter's character, and having Ed do it now seems redundant. I think that if we can forget about Prince Caspian, VDT would be better.
I dreamt that I dwelt in marble halls
<3 As you wish <3
^ditto! If they hadn't had Peter have that attitude in PC, Ed would seem better. It's more in his character. We need to forget Peter's high and mighty attitude in PC and also Suspian. So we can better like RD Lilliandil .
I would have posted this much sooner, but I wanted to watch the trailer many more times before posting my full review.
First scene: Edmund Wants to go into the military.
He could wish to do this for the fact that anyone who was a great king and warrior would thirst for command and battle. It may seem like Peter, but it is reasonable. Also, in Narnia, everyone looked up to him. Here, he is called "squirt". :-/ I do not know if I like it, however.
Painting:
I saw someone say that the painting had too much water and not enough of the ship. I vaguely noticed this, and I do agree. It seemed like it was moving too much, though. But I did like that you could see the water just barely leaking out until it became large. It was cool of Eustace to grab the painting off. I also liked that it seems that the room is flooded and they get out through the top (if it disappears) or through the window or door. Eustace cannot swim, but I suppose that anyone could get to the surface if they had air. We see Edmund and Lucy being lifted up. I do hope that Caspian jumps in to them and Eustace.
On the "boat": 😉
The next shot is Aslan with Lucy. I hate this. I am a purist, and Aslan did not do this. I do not know if this is the beginning or end. My brother, David Webb (on Narniaweb), says that it was near the end, as he says "You have come far, but your journey lies beyond." I think that it could mean that they've traveled to the near East, and they must go on, or it could mean that the children have come far (our world to the other), and must go on to the East. Either way, Aslan is never seen like this. The most they could do is show the head in Caspian's cabin when he talks to him. The least is simply following the book.
More on the "Boat":
Reep: I loved Eddie Izzard. This could be good, but never as good as Izzard.
Next, we see what appears to be the darker mer-people. It seems that Lucy then waves to it. Cool.
Edmund then asks someone, "So, if there are no wars to fight, then why are we here?". This could show from the beginning that he is perhaps eager to fight.
We see Edmund using the telescope apparently to see an island. I think that this is Gumpus' island, as it looks like many people live there, as there are lights.
Perhaps, though, it was the magicians island, as we see the magician through some sort of map or scroll (or both) onto the ground. We then see Eustace peaking on something.
Jadis:
I was INFURIATED when I first saw Jadis. However, I have now concluded that this is the Dark Island. That's pretty cool. I just skimmed through the Dark Island part, and I do not think that we know that Edmund saw/heard. So, I think that it's a good idea.
The Magician's Book:
I liked the opening of the book. I also liked Lucy looking like Susan in the mirror, and then the roar and the pages turning. We then see the snow everywhere. Quite an interesting effect.
We see Reep running up the mast. That could be to see the Monster (if it's in the film), or an island, or something else.
We see several characters on the ship, along with a minotaur. I quote like Minotaurs (hence my picture, which I believe is still on), so that is very neat.
Next: We see an island with many buildings on it. Could that be the isalnd of the magician? Perhaps the island of Gumpus?
We then see a gal who I assume is Ramandu's daughter. Nice glowing effect.
Then, we see Edmund on a high surface with a glowing sword (I suppose it's his), and it is dark all around. Perhaps the Dar Island, which was origiginally composed of mainly fog (but could have dark clouds)? Or is it against the sea monster?
Next: Apparently Ramandu's daughter turns into a ball and flies up. This is new.
Then, we see Narnians fighting humans. Is this against Gumpus' people? It looks worn down, and has the same structure as the island with all the buildings. I think that it is so!
Next: Lucy about to fire an arrow. Quite acceptable. Perhaps against the Monster?
We then sea the magician cloaked, and then we see the mono-pods.
Next: Lilly sea. Yay! They kept that in the movie. Then, we see 3 people (I assume that it is Edmund, Lucy, and Eustace) and Reep with Aslan. We also see the great wall of sea, which is in the book.
Next, we see Susan, Peter, Edmund, and Lucy (respectively) individually walking toward the camera. Is this for effect? This greatly worried my brother, David Webb. I sure hope so. Maybe it is in an innocent part near the beginning of the film.
And, of course, we have the classic Aslan roar at the end, and the title.
This movie could be good, but I am a bit pessimistic. However, I am going to the the movie at midnight with the highest expectations ever! This had better be good!!!
"...that no one who does not wish to feel this sword as near his heart as I can reach shall talk in my presence about Traps or Toasted Cheese or Candles: no, sir - not the tallest fool in Narnia!"
