"You have been sent here for a reason. Your adventure begins now" sure sounds to me like they are planning to end the Narnia movies on this one.....especially since they show Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy all together during that line......
Don't worry, I don't think they intend to stop with this one. However, I think that line is directed towards Edmund and Lucy. We are saying goodbye to Edmund and Lucy (until HHB), and they have to say goodbye to Narnia. But we aren't saying goodbye to Eustace.
despite what you just saw Peter and Susan do NOT make it back to Narnia .. as per Lewis. All is not what it seems.
Good. I didn't think they were going to return to Narnia, but I still can't figure out where that scene is!
Some of the shots looked odd. I don't remember anything like them in LWW or PC. It must be because of a new director or camera angles. What I'm saying is, some of it looked out of proportion or something -- like when the book closes on Lucy during Aslan's roar. It just didn't look right. Nor did Lilliandil's little turn-back-into-a-ball-and-go-back-up-into-the-sky routine. Maybe it wasn't camera angles, maybe it was because digital cameras were used.
I'm going to guess that it's the digital cameras. And I doubt they're done with all of the CGI effects so probably everything will look better in the movie itself.
^^ yeah, maybe so, but "Your Adventure begins now" ? why would he say that?

My thought was that perhaps he might say that at the end of the film?
i.e. "now your Adventure begins in the real world". "There i have another name", etc etc.
^^ oh! good point! though it might also be something we don't expect.....
I can't wait to find out!

I am kinda glad Caspian goes with them. It kinda makes sense that he would go as far as he could to see them off. This means they are far less likely to do the scene where he wants to go to Aslan's Country and the crew tries to stop him and there's almost a mutiny and then he goes to his cabin and pouts about it until he sees Aslan. I really didn't like Caspian in that part of the book. I thought he was extremely immature, even for seventeen. I think it would be worse to have Ben acting that immature but maybe that's just me. This way maybe Aslan will turn him back. We get to see it instead of Caspian telling us about it, and maybe he won't be so pouty about it.
Not to bash the book, of course. I loved the book... just not that part. *Joins Beginte and Lover of Narnia in hopes of not being burned alive*
from a filmaking standpoint this is the only way to tell the story. i know bookfans are gonna cry foul (heck its being done on practically every page on this thread already ) but dont forget that storytelling in a book medium is very different from a film medium. there is a crucial aspect in film storytelling, for lack of a better term, called cohesiveness, and its especially important when you have a film that involves an ensemble cast versus being lead by an actor or two. you dont just ditch one of the main characters in the last 10 minutes of the story (unless he dies or something-- see Boromir) specially if that character is supposed to "receive a torch" at the end of the current movie and is key to "passing the torch" to another character in the succeeding movie. that is the crucial role Caspian plays, at the end of VODT he receives the honor of being (in a way) the new High King of Narnia-- an honor Edmund bears until he leaves in finality. you cant achieve that by keeping Caspian separated from the 3 kids at the most climatic part of the tale.
besides it will highlight the conflict in Caspian of insisting on staying in Aslan's world versus returning to Narnia. remember his story arc, he will be sent back to continue to suffer life before he receives the reward of being with Aslan. call it The Passion of Caspian.

OK, just a few more points:
1. Do NOT trust anything actually said in the trailer. Trailers are notorious for mixing sound clips and adding lines that aren't actually in the movie.
2. Remember what Dark Island really is. Edmund is not being tempted by the White Witch. Dark Island is where dreams come true. The WW is part of a nightmare that Edmund has. So despite the fact that he has defeated the WW, it doesn't mean that he can't have nightmares about her or her temptation.
3. Edmund is not acting like Peter in PC. He is trying to enlist to save his country at a time where the German Wolf Pack is patrolling the Atlantic and the Allies are invading/are getting ready to invade Sicily. He's not getting in fist-fights, he's trying to fight a war because he knows he knows how to fight a war, despite his age. That's not exactly Peter-esque. And remember point 1.
4. We don't know where Peter and Susan appear in the movie. It could be a dream at the Dark Island, it could be part of the Magician's magic, it could be a phantom at the End of the World. We don't know. There is no logical reason to panic.
5. To repeat: There is no need to panic.

agreed!
frankly i dont understand the uproar over Edmund's wanting to enlist. to me it shows that Ed is at the brink of adulthood which is usually the signal that he's nearing the end of his free pass into Narnia. It happened to Peter and to Susan (pride, romantic feelings, etc) and this is how they're showing it for Edmund.
i'm curious how they're showing it for Lucy, so does that mean that her time is almost up because now she's showing susceptibility to vanity? i was just hoping it was a bit more profound than that, after all this is Lucy we're talking about.

^^ I am not panicking! thanks for posting that by the way! very good points!
very true: trailers always mix up clips. I remember well when the first PC trailer came out and they first showed a clip of Susan throwing an arrow, and then the ice shattering (when Edmund stabs WW) and I though Susan had smashed the ice!
also, this is a teaser trailer! they showed us lots on this one, but not everything!

The trailer was good, but it didnt have very many of the most important parts of the book in it. Like when the sea monster thingy almost cut the ship in half, and when Eustace turns into a dragon, and when they all get captured, etc. I liked it but all in all I was rather dissapointed. I really hope that they put Susan and Peter in this one, I would like to see them again.

I can't believe the long-awaited trailer is finally here, guys!!! I was nearly squealing with joy! So much to say about it too! First impression is that it's awesome!!! Really awesome!!!
But so many questions. Why does the trailer remind me of Stardust?
Does sound like Edmund is going OOC? (Cool thing is that he has more attention.)
Why does Dark Island (is that Dark Island?) look more like as Reepi put it..."Foggy Island" instead?
Did they do the background music themselves?
Why can't we hear Caspian yet? (I was dying to hear the change.)
I could go on and on but one more question....what's with the Pevensies (all four of them too!) walking towards the camera?! That doesn't look like part of the movie.

Thanks for your fresh dose of logic. I agree.
I think this first trailer's goal is to put the most recognizable and iconic images of the franchise front and center, so people who've been away from it for awhile can re-connect.
The second trailer will likely have much more focus on Eustace, Caspian, and the actual plot line with the Seven Lords.
What pleases me the most about the trailer is how much more assured the direction looks. Despite the fact that it's edited like chop suey with out-of-context lines and voiceovers, you can see Apted's confidence and experience versus Adamson's overly-safe shot choice and composition (IMHO; nothing against Adamson).
I also love the way Aslan looks in the shot with Lucy. A lot more real and tangible, I think. I couldn't really connect with him in PC.
"A man can no more diminish God's glory by refusing to worship Him than a lunatic can put out the sun by scribbling the word 'darkness' on the walls of his cell." (C.S. Lewis, The Problem of Pain)
I haven't read through the thread yet but the idea came to me today with the scene of Susan, Peter, Edmund and Lucy walking. At first it seemed really odd but then I started thinking. What about when they are getting near the Lone Islands and Lucy is recalling the times they had gone there when they were Kings and Queens and then there is a flashback/cameo of that time?
^^ very good theory, and I thought of this myslef, but as I pointed out before, Lucy and Edmund are wearing the clothes that they are wearing during the film of VotDT! hmmm.....

My favorite scene would have to be when Lucy was looking at herself. She has grown so much. She is GEORGOUS.
I though it was interesting that there was only a couple seconds of Caspian in the whole trailer. But maybe that's just me.
