Lady G gasped. "It most certainly would explain things!" She remembered how long Rose had been there and felt guilty she had not said anything sooner. She hadn't known it was anything so important or she would have! She immediately raced forward and knelt next to Rose, reaching out to dust her off, and then stopping. "We should get it off her. But how, without it doing the same thing to us?" Hopefully Button will know. "Rose, I don't know if you're able to speak, but if you can, talk to us!"

Outside of what used to be the dungeons

Lu sighed in relief as the river flowed away and out of sight.

"Good. Now I can get down from he- ooooh! What's that??."

Somehow, water was starting to trickle down Lu's face. She looked up to see something resembling a shower head; it was from this that the water came.

"Ugh. It'll get the dust on the floor all wet. Then it'll be muddy."

Lifting her cloak up so that it did not drag on the floor, Lu made her way along the hallway. Suddenly, a rain-like sound descended.

"What was-"

Rain. Torrents and torrents of rain. All of it falling on Lu; on her hair, on her snake-skin boots, down her back. She dashed for shelter but unfortunately, there was none; the 'shower-heads' were drenching the entire lower level, as far as Lu could see.

"Great." Lu pulled her cloak up even further and held it over her head, though it was no use; the rain made her LotGK-reminiscent cloak soggy and still some of it managed to soak her already-sopping-wet hair and splash in her face, making it difficult to breathe. Lu decided to do the only thing she could.

She ran like she was being chased by a 14-ton gorilla.

Maybe, just maybe, she'd get out of there before the muddy river drowned her. Already it was up to her knees.

Lu found herself wishing that the Tower's lower level was not nearly so spacious. Or winding.

War of the Overdoms: The Battle That Is Now Over

"Button here. From what you're saying I think it would be best to beam your company back to the castle. I will be beaming Rose directly into sick bay, and the rest of you to the decontamination rooms, just in case any of the powder touched you. Each of you will be beamed into a separate room, where the decontaminatory processes will take place. After that, you will be beamed to your private rooms. Beaming commencing in five...four...three...two...one...."

With a few flashes, each of the minions disappeared from the room.

"There." with a final flurish, Booky handed a nice fat check to Lady A. Normally, Lady A would never have gotten away with this, but Booky was suffering from a horrid mental disease called mid-terms, and was thus unable to complain.

"Thank you." Lady A smiled, then gently pressed her comlink. "Lady A to Button, please transport all Castle adherents back home. Thank you."

Ace shook his head, "After I got done on my shift I went to see her in the Medical Wing, like you asked... She came out with Doctor Nix... you know him, I've commented on him before. Anyway, I got all upset about him, and told her what he did to me... she got mad or upset or something and ran away."

He ran a hand through his hair, "I don't know where she went."

David frowned. "Is she registered in the base? Can we look her up?" He got off the bed and moved over to his console, voice activated it and then began tapping keys. "You don't think she's in any danger, do you?"

Ace stood up and came across to the console, looking over his shoulder, "Look up the guest roster, if she left the base she would be logged as exiting." He scratched his head and ran his hand through his hair, "I don't think she would be in trouble... but she seemed really angry after what I said, and I don't know where she would go."

David had gone straight to the roster after Ace suggested it. He scrolled through the names.

Fairchild, Grace, Dr.

"You don't think she got married, do you?" He asked, going down the list some more. The creators had arranged it in order of arrival starting yesterday, and he had no idea when she had arrived.

Ace was taken aback and looked dumbfounded for a moment, "Heck, I don't know..." He said, "She's your sister, I just met her today." He shrugged.

"All I know, is that I told her what Nix had done to me, you know, forced the transformation and DNA and all that... and I told her what the MESS does to it's soldiers when they are brought in as kids. She got angry and said that Nix would never do such a thing"

He shook his head and rubbed his temples, "Look for recently departing guests."

David had flipped the virtual page of the list and found today's arrivals. "I will if there's nothing here...ah. There."

Cunningham, Grace, Dr.

He checked her status. Still checked in, still there. "Why would that bother her? She just got here, right? Why would she believe him more than you? Is he a scientific colleague?"

David looked up from the screen and signed out. "Well, she's still here. Let's go look for her." He began to pull on the rest of his uniform.

Ace tossed his helmet on the bed and nodded, "Yeah, we had better find her. Some of the other soldiers aren't exactly the best when dealing with ladies, as you know."

He thought about what David had asked, "I don't know why it would bother her so much, though she seemed different after talking with Nix then when I first met her. She seemed almost distracted. And yeah, he's the head scientist, he'll be her boss if she gets hired."

David stiffened when Ace reminded him of the other soldiers' habits. He had already finished putting on his fatigues and now grabbed a gun, looking very much like he wanted to try it on anyone fooling around with his sister.

"Let's go." The two exited the room, then the barracks, and began walking the corridors down to the science wings.

Cale shook his head “If there ever was a map, the M.E.S.S probably have it a database somewhere, they didn’t want any rebels using this place as a base, in case a civil war broke out, but obviously they didn’t do enough”
Shrims rolled his eyes.

“Gee… Thanks for the history lesson, Professor Geekness. But that still doesn’t solve our problem” VAC’s narrowed his photoreceptors and took a few scans of the tunnels “they both look the same, the only difference is that one goes left and one goes right, I can’t help any here”

“Great. Just great, so we risked our necks on that flimsy ladder for nothing” Shrims said, turning around and beginning the long climb back to the open air.

“Just wait a minute, ok?!” Cale yelled at the ever negative Shrims, “I’ve got to think!” after a few minutes of reflection, force meditation and a -lot- little guess work he pointed at the left tunnel “That’s the one”
“How do you know?” Shrimps asked “The force” the diminutive little creature replied “The force my left foot”

Zak keyed the comlink and replied “Yeah, he’s followed us since the city. He’ll be parked off the side of the road up ahead. We’ll have to take another route into Ditto Town”

Ace had never removed his own pistol, but he checked the charge as they left the barracks, "Last I saw, she was headed away from the medical wings, but her clearance doesn't allow her to go into any of the military facilities, so she's most likely wandering someplace" He came up beside David as they walked, "Does she do this alot? Get mad and walk off I mean?"

Cyg answered Zak's response, "Alright, you lead the way man, we're pretty much blind to this part of the city" he closed off the com and waited for Zak's speeder to head off.

Ace's words were completely innocent, but David was hit again with the reality that today was the first time he had seen his sister in eight years. Eight long years. "I don't know. The last time I saw her she was thirteen."

He tried to remember what she'd been like. "She was pretty independent. Smart. Liked to hang out with me. Wouldn't take much of my joking." He almost smiled, even while his eyes were tracking the corridors for any sign of her.

Ace saw a slight change in David as he asked about her, and heard it in his voice too. He remembered then that David had been separated from her and the rest of his family, just like so many other young men when the MESS came.

He did chuckle at David's assessment of Grace's personality, "Independent she is... after this morning when she told me off about that guard..." he trailed off and shook his head.

The MESS barracks, military and medical complexes were quite a large network of buildings, hallways, corridors, galleries and rooms. But most of them were off limits to anyone without a Military pass, so there were only a few places Grace could be. He hoped they would find her soon, for some reason he felt as if he should apologize to her.

Grace was hiding.

She would not admit it to herself, but she had run away and tucked herself into the smallest, most out of the way open room that she could find and was in there, trembling.

She'd been in there for hours, ever since she ran away from Ace. She was afraid because she didn't know what had happened to her. Earlier, while with Nix, she'd found him extremely attractive. She'd found it hard to talk, hard not to focus on Nix's face and how he looked in his labcoat. She'd found it impossible that he could do wrong.

Now she didn't know what to think. He was still attractive in her memory. The memory of him was wonderful and almost intoxicating, but ever since she had run away from that lab, her mind had cleared and she could think again, and she was left with a question: why had she reacted that way to Nix, and why had she found it so easy to trust him completely?

She hadn't talked with him about his personal life at all, but she had felt sure that he was perfect in every way and so had rebelled against Ace telling her that Nix had done something wrong. Why was that? Beyond that, she thought that she had lost the chance of a potential friend in yelling at Ace like that. She wouldn't usually have done anything of the sort. She was rational, she was...

Grace shivered, huddling next to the wall in the darkened office. She was afraid. She felt as though she had lost reason and rational thought when around Nix, and she didn't know why. Was this falling in love? If it was, she didn't like it.

David began to check a row of offices all lined up along one of the hallways. They were empty for now and unlocked. They were even next to the science wing, so Grace could have hidden here. He tried not to get worried.
