War of the Overdoms: Battle at Lovers Lookout
The entrance hall of the tower
Upon seeing the wolf take flight, Lady G, not expecting the action, retreated instinctively further back into the hallway. She heard the sound of his wings as they grew fainter. Finally, she determined that he was gone. She stepped forward and peered around the door and found that he was indeed gone.
Keeping her communicator on, she stepped into the room and looked about. Her eyes landed on a shredded bag of flour lying near a stairwell on the opposite side of the room. All of the walls and floor near the bag were covered in flour. What on earth? This was a very strange game indeed that the two minions had been playing....
Lady G's thoughts halted abruptly when she saw --
She wasn't sure how to describe it. It looked as if the flour was floating in midair, in the shape of something...or someone. In fact, frankly (but not logically, she thought) speaking, it looked as if the flour was covering someone...invisible?
She immediately felt nervous, and strained, trying as hard as possible to see if there was something there which she...just couldn't see for some reason. But no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't see anything.
"Uh...hello? Is someone there?" she waved a hand cautiously.

"Missy, can I talk to you?"
Mississippi Laureda Green turned to face her sister. Phoebe was only six minutes younger than she was and yet she acted as though she was years younger. Phoebe was always getting into trouble and Missy had to bail her out. As Missy studied her now, she knew that this was one of those times.
"What is it, Phoebe?" Missy asked, eying her sister. Missy had beautiful, vibrant eyes- helpful for times like this, when she wanted to impress something upon her sister. Right now, those baby greens declared "Phoebe Leslie Green, you had better spill the beans right now."
Phoebe averted her eyes - eyes that usually danced, but were now downcast and frightened. "I'm sorry, Missy." she finally said. "I didn't mean to cause trouble, but..."
"Phoebe." Missy did not raise her voice but she spoke with a stronger inflection than usual. Phoebe took the hint and quickly told her story.
"I decided to visit Joelie, but she wasn't home, and Angele wouldn't tell me where she had gone..."
Missy raised her thin, finely arched eyebrows and Phoebe continued.
"Well, anyway...I decided to go looking for her myself, and do you know where she was? At the ice rink, skating with Jessie, and they hadn't invited me! I thought I was their friend..."
"I'm sorry." Missy admitted, feeling terrible for her twin. She had often wished that Phoebe would spend more time with her, but she had never wanted such that to happen due to something like this.
"That's okay." Phoebe said, wiping her eyes. "That's not the problem."
Missy's stomach twisted; if that wasn't the problem...?
"Missy," Phoebe said in a shaky voice "Something happened to me on the way home from the skating rink. I...I got beat up."
Missy surveyed her younger twin, surprised that she seemed to be in tip-top shape at least physically. The pale skin on her sightly-sharp chin was marred by the small, flesh-colored scar that Phoebe had had ever since they had been six, but other than that...
"Where are you hurt?" Missy asked tenderly, reaching out for her twins. Phoebe lifted her shirt just enough to reveal a black-and-blue stomach. Missy quickly got her into bed, wondering why she did not seem to be in that much pain, emitting only a low grunt as Missy help her lower herself into a lying position. Well, that was like Phoebe; she had to be hurt very bad before she cried. Noticing the tears streaks on her sister's face, Missy was sure now that the beating had been very bad."Are you okay?" she asked. Phoebe nodded. "It doesn't hurt if I'm still."
Missy searched her mind; how could this happen? Phoebe was outspoken and accidentally made people angry sometimes but...who would do something like this?
"Who did this to you?'" she asked. Phoebe shrugged.
"But it doesn't really matter." Her eyes were wide open in fright.
"Phoebe...?"
Phoebe swallowed. "It doesn't matter, because this isn't the worse they will do; they want to kill me."

Room of Epic Wetness
Took paused by the wall to catch her breath. She was less than a hundred feet away from the stairs now (as the kraken swims) and had swallowed about enough water to fill a wading pool. It'll take a week to get the smell of chlorine off of me, she thought gloomily. Her comm appeared to be broken (it didn't say "water proof" anywhere in the small print). But on the other hand, she hadn't run into any other living things in the pool, let alone creatures from the abyss. Although there was that thing that had slid past her leg earlier...Maybe, she told herself.
She shoved off and continued her trek. She had tried singing to pass the time earlier, but the room was so echoey that she feared it would attract unwanted attention. So she swam on in silence.
Then something slimy touched her foot.
She instinctively kicked, but missed. Either the thing was too fast or water made her too slow, or both. She looked around frantically, but could see nothing beneath the water. Once she had mostly assured herself that whatever-it-was had gone (if she hadn't just imagined it), she started paddling faster, cutting across deeper water. It won't be able to follow me out of the pool, she thought. Or hoped.
Then she saw a dark mass moving toward her. She was still too far away from the stair to make a dash for it, so she hurried back to the shallowest water and turned around to face it, quarterstaff in hand.

Lia swallowed. She knew that question was going to come at some time. She slid out of the tree and talked rapidly into her communicator. "I was in a tree, but now I'm on my way. Be there in a few minutes."
Lia then proceded to take off in the direction on the Tower at a run, carefull to watch where she stepped. You never know where there might be a booby trap, though Lia as she reached the main entrance. She slowed down and peeked inside. She could see Lady G, so she quickly entered and took a position at Lady G's side.
It was then that she noticed the strangle invisible person covered in the powdery white substance. "Who's that?" she asked pointing to it.

Suddenly a hand clapped over both Lady G and Lia's mouths, and they were tugged backwards, tumbling to the floor. A cape flashed out and covered them, but not before they caught a glimpse of a tall, wiry figure clad in a medieval-style dress and tall black boots.
"Don't struggle." a voice said- a voice with a perfect British accent. "If you do, it will only be worse for you. You are coming with me."
The cape was pulled off of them and they saw that the figure was now wearing a sort of mask- it looked more like a bunch of handkerchiefs covering all but her eyes.
"Come on." she repeated. "We're going to the Tower."

"Oh, hi Lia," Lady G said as Lia appeared by her side. "That's just what I was wondering -- "
A hand clapped over her mouth and she felt herself tugged backward to the floor (only the tight grip she had retained on her bow kept it from flying out of her hands), giving her only a glimpse of the person who had managed to sneak up behind her back before a fabric momentarily covered her face. When it was removed, she caught a better glimpse of the figure as she was saying something about not struggling or it being worse for her and Lia. "Come on," the figure said, "We are going to the Tower." Something about the figure seemed familiar but Lady G couldn't place it because of the mask over her enemy's face.
She banished the idle thought from her mind and cried, "Silly, we already are in the Tower!" With those words, she rolled on the floor away from her wannabe captor and flew to her feet with the nimbleness of being in good athletic condition. She grabbed the shredded flour bag and threw it at her enemy's face, sending a cloud of flour across the room. "Let me warn you that scaring me is generally not a wise thing to do," she said as she quickly prepared an arrow on her bow.

Lia had just arrived when the hand had grabbed her from behind, startling her. Lady G had quickly escaped from their captor and Lia hurried to do the same. She threw herself backwards and made the girl topple over. While the girl was on the ground, Lia jumped to her feet grabbing an arrow from her quiver and fitting it to her bow.
The girl did look familiar, but she could not quite place her. Maybe she [Lia] had met her while a minion in the Tower, before switching sides. Who knew? Moving so that she would be behind the girl when she stood up, Lia watched the girl carefully, then turned to Lady G. "She looks somewhat familiar to me. Minus the flour, of course..."
Lia looked around for something to dusk the girl off with. She grabbed the flour sack and shook it out with one hand. Once most of the flour was gone, she bent down and wiped the four off the girl's face. "Hmm..." Lia said, studying the girl intently. "I don't know, LG. Have you ever seen her before?"

As Lady G got away Lu had grabbed for her, missing, and when she turned around for Lia she found that she was falling to the floor. As the flour coated her she coughed and tried not to breathe to deeply until the air had cleared. Sputtering, she stood stock-still as the two examined her.
"I don't know, LG." Lia was saying. "Have you ever seen her before?"
Lu glared from the eye-holes of her mask and coughed one last time. "It doesn't matter if you've seen me before. I'm taking you to the Tower."
Feeling stupid since they were already inside, she shook her head and changed tactics.
"Booky is upstairs, and he'll want to see you." she sniffed. She reached out for their arms and tried to drag them to the highest tower in the Tower.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa," said Lia, digging in her heels. "Nobody's taking me anywhere. Least of all you taking me to Booky." Lia twisted her arm free and pulled back on her bowstring. She could be very stubborn on occasion and this was definitely a good time to be stubborn. Pulling on LG's arm, Lia started walking back towards the door. "Let's get out of here."

Lu frantically ran to block the doorway.
"You aren't afraid, are you?" she taunted. "You have the advantage, being two against one, you know."She stuck her hands on her hips and gazed steadily at them both for a moment, then smiled.
"You're younger than me." she said to Lia, pointedly. "I suppose with age comes bravery..." Her gaze fluttered towards Lady G and she sighed. "Both of you, it is so piteous that you would not risk all for some reward."

"I don't know, Lia," Lady G coughed as she herself tried to cover from the cloud of flour. The room slowly began to clear. "Something makes me think I might have."
Even as she was saying it, the Overlord's minion seized both her arm and Lia's and tried to drag them out of the room. Lia immediately broke free and grabbed her arm. Momentarily Lady G found herself being pulled in two different directions until the minion let go and ran to block the doorway. She immediately began to taunt them.
Lady G leaned in and quickly hissed in Lia's ear, "She's probably trying to rile us. Stay calm." She moved away and temporarily held her peace, pondering what to do next.
War of the Overdoms: Battle at Lover's Lookout
Dot crept through the hallways, stopping every few steps to glance around and make sure no one from the opposite side was trying to sneak up on her. She paused when she heard voices down the hallway. She flattened herself against the wall and inched her way along until she came to a corner. She poked her head cautiously around the corner, hoping it wouldn't be blown off or something. She was surprised when she saw a fellow minion attempting to force two minions from the opposite side up into the Tower. She was even more surprised when she recognized one of them: it was Lady G! Now what do I do?
War of the Overdoms: Battle at Lover's Lookout
Lu saw Lady G lean towards Lia and, although she could not decipher what was being said, she heard a faint murmuring sound.
Probably making plans...
Lu sighed inwardly and tried to block the large doorway more effectively. She was not entirely crazy and she knew that she was outnumbered. Just as she was wishing that there was someone else on her side when she saw a head peak out around a bend in the hallway. Lu gave a slight nod, looking Dot directly in the eyes. She then let a glace sweep over Lady G and Lia, then smiled at Dot, nodding up towards Booky's tower.
Now she didn't have to worry; there was someone on her side.
Besides, unlike herself, Dot had probably planned ahead and brought a decent weapon.

Lady G's keen eyes saw her opponent's eyes shift and look away at something else, and then begin to smile. She frowned. "What are you staring at?" she demanded. Then she thought, Or is it who are you staring at...
Her grip tightened on the bow.
War of the Overdoms: Battle at Lover's Lookout
Lu tossed her head, longish brown curls flying in every direction. She had taken the care to curl them that morning as it always payed to look ones best, even when engaged in war.
"What am I staring at?" A high, tinkling laugh filled the corridor, sounding quite a bit like LotGK's. "What do you mean? What are you staring at? I am staring straight at you." Lu tossed her head again and sighed. "And I am growing rather bored of standing in doorways, waiting for you to come with me. Beware! There is more to this tower than you think!"
Suddenly Lu charged at Lady G, pushing her several feet across the room then jumping backwards. She laughed as Lady G fell into a trap door and landed several feet below in a pile of musty straw.
"Aha! Now what will you do? You cannot get me now; you will not be able to get out of there without some rather serious help. There are, as you probably see, no ladders or any way out other than..."
Lu paused for a moment and her eyes took on an odd sheen. Her lips turned upwards into a spooky smile, she bent low to the ground, and out of her mouths came words, barely distinguishable, in a horrible raspy-sounding voice:
"Unless you go through...the tunnel."
Suddenly Lu straightened and looked to be herself again. Let Lady G make what she wanted to of her words: she had Lia to take car of now. As Lucy turned away from Lady G, she made a mental note to take her Gollumolotiphobic medicine as soon as she got a chance. Eager to go to high tower, Lu turned to Lia, but the convulsions were already starting back up.
"Up, up, up, up, up the stairs we go!" she chirped, before regaining control. "Okay, enough of this foolishness! I am not going to play games any longer! Lia, you are coming with me!"
Lu rushed towards her warily.
