All but confirmed by Mark Gordon that Narnia will be PG.
He also confirmed that it's just "Narnia" as we've been wondering about for a while now.
Neither come as much as a surprise to me at this point. Glad for a PG rating for MN as there's a tendency to make stories darker than necessary. Though I am hoping for a PG13 for LB if we ever get there.
I never really expected The Magician's Nephew to get a higher rating than a PG. I mean, the most violent parts are in the backstory for Charn, not in the body of the story proper. I suppose Jadis striking the policemen on their heads with the iron bar is really violent, realistically speaking. But the camera doesn't need to focus on their skulls bleeding or anything and, anyway, they have helmets.
The only reason to be surprised by the PG IMO is that this movie seemed like it was possibly being marketed more to the arthouse crowd than the family film crowd. (I like to think a good adaptation of the book could appeal to both though.)
For better or worse-for who knows what may unfold from a chrysalis?-hope was left behind.

For the hero inside us all
I can hear adventure call
Here we go
A PG rating for MN seems pretty reasonable. There's not that many scenes in MN that I could think of that could give it a higher rating than a PG, so on that front, I am glad, if that is the rating when it's released.
