The problem with me is that I'm good with ideas, but bad at follow-through. And sometimes I think one idea is far more interesting than what I'm working on right now. Its like an inner voice saying "but I want to do the story about the fantasy archaeolegist right now! I have to tell it to shut up.

Hehe, I have the same problem. I really anoy myself with that. Like I start ot writing and it's really great, but then it gets complicated and the story jsut fizzles out. I wish I could offer you advice... but I struggle witht he same thing.

fencer yes I plan on getting my story in the hands of a publisher by this summer if possible.
The dream sequence is my opening for the first book and will have a conclusion at the end of the fifth book. My main character Ben is having the dream and it's a nightmare that relates to his and Elizabeths real world around them and how it effects them and practically everyone else but the story revolves around them and an enemy that they accidently bring along. But yes the dream/nightmare will relate to the story and show the real worlds problems that human beings themselves need to fix in order to not bring the end of the world upon themselves.

Lady H, I don't see anything wrong with your character's name being someone's last name...after all, there are a lot of last names in the world. I just Googled one of mine, and it's someone's last name too, apparently. Not a very common last name, I expect.
Hey Damsel! Welcome to Writer's World! Neat story idea! And that's so cool about having it already copyrighted!
My story used to have a dream scene as a beginning. But then I read somewhere that dreams (or the character waking up) were a common beginning to stories. And there really wasn't anything special about my dream sequence. I ended up dropping it and starting my story at a point that hopefully will draw the reader in. But your dream sounds interesting! It sounds like it fits into the story better than mine did, so if you think it'll work, I say go for it! If you change your mind, you can always take it out later.
Lady H and Star, maybe you'd both find this blog post helpful? (I think I posted this same link somewhere waaay back in the depths of this thread, so sorry if I'm repeating myself ) It's about ideas and trying to keep writing them.

Thanks Silver the Wanderer! One thing she said was that it’s possible that your story idea isn’t big enough to take you very far. She said to try to find something else can fit into the story you dropped. That is quite helpful!

That's a great blogpost! It makes you think...maybe I can fix my horrible habit. It has now bitten me and poisoned my against my Burgeodoen Chronicles! Should have known it would, it always does...*sighs*
I think I shall play w/ my "Strider" character tonight...and see where he takes my story. He shall probably steal it, maul it and dump it in a dumpster, leaving me to fish out the messy, crinkled pages...but it is a chance that I must take.

It's not available for any book store right now. But I am going to work on that. I am going to propose to several Christian book store chains once I get some hard copies and I am also going to explore Barnes and Nobel. In the meantime, it will only be available on Amazon and the Lighthouse Christian Publishing website.

Yeah I know I'm going to ask my local borders or barnes and Noble to order some copies so I can get a copy and I'm going to let a lot of my friends know about it too!

I've gone over the name thing and decided I don't really care. I might change a few spellings here and there and maybe an odd name or two, but the pronunciation would be the same. . . except that I can't have Estam, Esran and Eslan running around, because it would be too confusing.
Yes, thank you for the Levine blog link! I really like that.

Wow FencerforJesus! Congratulationss that is so exiting!
I'm happy for you!
I'm in need of some advice, do you guys think this is too sensual, or that it goes overboard about one little brief kiss?
"Amanda briefly wonders if he actually had kissed her, but the lingering warmth on her lips verifies her sweet memory. But there is no time to contemplate her never before felt desires, and Amanda rushes to follow Harvey."
Plus, I do not even support kissing before marriage, and I plan to express that later in my story, but do you think it is ok for me to have a kissing scene and then voice my opinion elswhere, even though kissing before marrige is firstly shown in a good light?
These are the things that keep me awake at night... lol.

Yes, that would be okay, I think.
I have a question too. Does anyone think the names Emros and Emrad are too alike for characters in the same story? I keep having problems with that.

^^ I think that would be fine. I mean, look at some of the names of Tolkien's characters -- Eowyn, Eomund, Eomer, etc.
So if Tolkien does it, I'd say it's okay.
