We can check and see if they have it on Steam. That'd take most of the guesswork out.

Thanks for all that information, 7chronicles! I really appreciate it; it clarifies a lot.

I have a PS2 slim. I'm guessing, like you said, that the PS3 will be considerably cheaper once the PS4 comes out, so I'll wait for that (anyways, upgrading to the PS3 is more like a long-term plan. ;)) ). I'll probably decide between the original launch and the slim when I have to buy them. I only have two games and only care about one, so it's not a huge deal if I have to re-buy it if the slim is better, considering all things. Another thing that makes me want the PS3 is that it plays Bluray, which would be nice to have. Thanks, again, for your help!

Guess what I did over the weekend? I actually busted out Skyward Sword, which I had gotten a year and a half ago, but never opened. ;))

I made it through the intro and while I like this particular variation of the Zelda story so far, the gameplay was driving me nuts. The graphics are a big step backwards from Twilight Princess, the controls are not as intuitive (I was having major issues getting past that opening flying race and jumping off that platform and landing on the circle X( ), but the biggest negative for me was the over-explained controls and how to play. Really all it made me want to do was dust off Twilight Princess and play that one again. But as much as time allows I'll keep playing Sword to see if it gets better because those intros can sometimes be a little rough.

My close relatives have discovered the fun of the Nintendoland Zelda game. ;)) It's a short game with 12 levels and they're all pretty quick. You can have up to 5 players with one using the handheld screen and four Wiimotes. The one with the screen is the archer and everyone else has a sword and shield. The gameplay is interesting in that you move through automatically and just kill stuff along the way. The archer can't stop or speedup, but the swordspeople can. So you have to be careful not to let the archer get in front unless they need to be. You have group health so you live and die as a team. Anyways, we love it. The other night we made it all the way to Gannondorf but it was after midnight and we were getting sloppy and finally gave up. One of these days we will get him. ;) :P

I've been spending my time on Planetside 2, stuck on it can't seem to dive into anything else at the moment haha.
But it's a massive online FPS game with huge maps and 3 different empires fighting against each other for bases and resources, and you can use tanks and there's air combat.... honestly what more could you want? ;)

I played a lot of Planetside 1 and loved it, despite the fact that the game was largely played by super-agile 15 year olds. I'm not as limber as I used to be but they're in their prime and regularly killed me. ;)) I played P2 once or twice and have it on Steam even now, but it just seemed radically different from what it was before that I wasn't able to get into it. Perhaps I should give it another look?

So i went and bought a PC version of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. We already had a PS3 version (also bought by me), but console games are ridiculously hard to mod, and there are a couple mods i'd like to experience. The version i just bought also comes with all 3 DLC packs, so there's that, too.

What i really like about Skyrim is the "feel" of it; kind of like you're writing your own story as you play. The world is so big that on the one hand it does feel a bit "mile wide, inch deep", but at the same time it lacks the structure of, say, Knights of the Old Republic or Portal so each play-through is a very different experience.

Just curious, but am I the only one here who has played any of the Megaman games?

For those of you who don't know what it is, the Megaman games are generally side-scrolling platformers where you can play the levels in any order (except for the final stages, but that is aside of the point).

After beating any level (which includes beating the boss), then you unlock the ability to use the weapon that the boss of the level used, and said weapon deals a lot of extra damage against another, specific boss. For example,

Spoiler
Fire Man's weapon in Megaman (the first game, not the series) will deal more damage against Bomb Man.

Anyway, so me and my siblings have the first four games in the series (Megaman 1-4), and we also have the first Megaman X (which takes place after the Megaman "classic" series (with the Megaman "classic" series being the one where you play as the original Megaman)). Now, if only Capcom would get around to releasing Megaman 5 (and, hopefully, Megaman 6) on the Wii U eShop...

Oh, also, if you have played the Bit.Trip series (or any games in the series), and you have a 3DS, then you should go to the Nintendo eShop and look at the "Price Drops" section, since Bit.Trip Saga (a compilation of the entire Bit.Trip series (with the exception of Runner2)) is on sale for an uber-cheap 5 dollars right now.

Oh, yeah, by the way, I got it at the discounted price yesterday. It's good.

If you haven't already played any games in the Bit.Trip series, or any of the demos, and you have a Wii, then you should go download the WiiWare demos for at least one of the games in the series (I recommend you at least try Bit.Trip Runner), and, if you like any of them, then I advise that you buy Bit.Trip Saga.

By the way, on the Wii Shop channel, the entire Bit.Trip series' combined price is more than 30$ (it would be 30$ if all of the games in the series didn't cost more than 5$ (some cost 8$, but I forget which ones)), so it's a pretty good deal if you want either: One of the 8$-priced games in the Bit.Trip series (such as Bit.Trip Runner or Bit.Trip Fate) or you want more than one game in the Bit.Trip series.

Oh, and, one last thing: Yes, me and my siblings now have a Wii U. I really like it so far (we've had it for a few months now (like maybe 10 or so)).

I dabbled a little bit with Megaman back in the original NES days but it wasn't really my cup of tea. I've never been a big fan of platformers to start with, although a few of them from back in the day tickled my fancy, like Ninja Gaiden 1 and Rygar.

Ah. There are some Megaman games that aren't platformers, but basically all of them are spin-offs, alternate timelines, well beyond the timeline where the original Megaman was around (such as the Megaman X series, but that one is a platformer series (for the most part) as well), etc.

Anyway, does anybody on here play Marvel: Avenger Alliance? It's a Facebook game, but it might as well be for other devices, since it's actually quite good (there is an iOS port that can't link to the Facebook version (from the sounds of things, you can link it to your Facebook account to access save data accross devices, but, due to the mobile version lacking some characters the Facebook version has, the two versions can't link to each other)).

In it, you play as a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. You fight battles against various Marvel villains (such as Magneto, MODOK, Loki, Abomination, etc.) and their minions (such as sentinels, servo-guards, HYDRA soldiers, AIM soldiers, etc.). The battles are turn-based, and the game is essentially an RPG.

The game has several "missions" (each containing a varying amount of battles, essentially the levels of the game), and also several "chapters" which the missions are dividided into (6 missions per "chapter", essentially being the worlds of the game).

Each mission has a map where you choose the battle you want to do. As you advance through each mission, more battles become available, with the final battle in each mission being a boss battle (usually a Marvel villain, but there are some exceptions to that (they are (almost) always Marvel characters, but not always a villain)).

You aren't just fighting alone, you also get to choose (up to) two Marvel heroes to go along with your agent in every battle. The heroes have a fixed move set (some characters have multiple fixed move sets, but that is aside of the point), whereas the agent can change weapons before each battle.

Anyway, though I might have missed a few things (I know I have, such as the items), I think I've described the game quite well.

I just finished my umpteenth run through of Mass Effect 1. I even managed to complete all the Achievements this time round, which I'm pretty proud of :). Now I'm working my way through Mass Effect 2 and hope to have that one totally finished Achievement-wise in a couple of weeks (I have a toddler, so not as much time as I once had :P). The story picks it up a notch for the second installment and they changed many of the dynamics of planetary exploration and resource gathering from the first one, but...oh, who am I kidding? No one's gonna play it because I'm the only one with an X-Box 360 here and just about everyone else plays Mario games.

:))

I did a review last year on ME1 which I was rather proud of. If you're curious the game can be gotten on PC for a reasonable price and it's a pretty good game. :)

Well, I made it through 75% of ME1 last year. I was determined to complete it as my first ever fps game. Everything was going good too until my kiddo decided to arrive early, and I obviously haven't had time to pick it back up again. My hubby has made it through all three of them though and I've seen a couple different story completions on number 3.

Shadowlander, i've played ME1 and 2 all the way through. I have ME3, but i haven't even started it yet, due to a couple factors but mostly because other games have dominated my attention. I do hope to get back to it someday.

There were some elements of ME1 i liked better, but i think i preferred ME2 on the whole.

I liked the space exploration and planet roving from ME1. I loved how you never needed to reload, just wait a bit for your weapon to cool off. There was also a lot more character optimization one could do in ME1. The planetary mineral gathering in ME2 is ok, but I miss my old Mako. There's a free DLC that takes about 10 minutes in which you get to visit the planet where the original Normandy is and you can see the Mako in pristine condition, and I just wanted to shout, "It's in great shape! Let's take it already!". But in almost every other aspect ME2 is the superior game. I've not gotten to ME3 yet because I had to wait for my brother to pass it over to me, not to mention I've heard rumors of a really, really awful ending. That scares me because a lousy ending would be a real stinker to attach to an otherwise really fun 2 games so far (and possibly the third). ;))

I suppose that depends on how you look at it. As I wasn't a die-hard ME fan, I actually LIKED the ending. It was unexpected and final (and for me, a breath of fresh air in a world that likes to run sequels into the ground). But I imagine that if they pulled that ending on a series I was madly in love with, I'd feel the same as the rest of the world. ;))
