Anyone interested in the upcoming Star Trek game?
I saw that trailer during E3, it looks really good, I still haven't decided if I'm a big enough Star Trek fan to buy it or not
I really loved the 2009 Star Trek, so if the game gets good reviews I may check it out!
By the way, me and my sister were wondering: Does the XBox 360's controllers vibrated like the PS3 controllers?
We were just talking about how much we love the way the controller vibrates by what is happening to your character on the game. It's very helpful when one is getting hit and dosen't realize it until you feel the vibration.
Me and my sister have been playing LittlebigPlanet 2 trying to get our last trophy, to get our Platinum Trophy!
Only two more months until Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception!!!
Me and my sister pre-ordered the Collectors Edition, which comes with a Nathan Drake statue, Drake's Ring, Drake's belt buckle and a steel game case!
Here is a video of Nolan North (voice of Nathan Drake) unboxing the collectors edition!

He mentions Narnia at the 3:38! LOL, Nathan Drake doing a British accent! .

Another update from the WQ admin. New screenshots of version 2.5 should be posted within a week

(Also a certain somebody is now User of the Month on the forum of a certain video game that she really loves )
In other news. My roommate and I were talking about how we really need to catch up on the Nancy Drew video games. A few of them look really cool

Steam gets a lot of negative publicity, but I've never understood why. It has a huge game selection and the prices are reasonable.
Oh, even though I do use Steam for a lot of reasons myself (e.g. games that are only sold on Steam and don't get a retail release), there are a lot of reasons why people wouldn't use Steam, such as:
- You don't technically own any game on your Steam account. Valve have every right to disable your account for any reason they please without appeal. Not that it happens often, but it does.
- You are charged for games depending on your region (with some regions paying up to 80% more for the same games) and you have no way of changing your region. If you use a workaround, Steam bans your account with all your games. This pricing also divides the UK and other European countries in different regions (with different pricing), which is illegal in Europe under free trading laws, but nothing can be done as Valve is US based.
- Some games use pretty harsh DRM (depending on the publisher, EA and Ubisoft are especially known for this), for example a DRM which forces you to be online at all times, if at any time you are offline you lose your game progress. This also happens if it's not your fault and it's their servers having a problem. Also means that sometimes you can't even play the game you paid for (not saying "your game", as, mentioned above, you don't "own" any game on Steam) if there's server problems (which can and does happen). Also affects games that have to be "authenticated" online if you want to play them and their servers aren't working .
I got a new-to-me game off of the XBox 360 marketplace a few weeks ago. It's called Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes.
I was a HUGE fan of the Heroes of Might and Magic series back in the day (and I hear number 6 is due out in October
). Though admittedly number 5 was a travesty. I never did play the plain ol' Might and Magic series though. Heroes was a turn based rts rpg while M&M I think was similar to Dungeon Siege. Not sure about that though.
Anyways, Clash of Heroes was loads of fun. The closest thing I can think of to compare it to is Bejeweled meets Chess meets the old Heroes games.
The gameplay looked like this...
... And you'd have to line your characters up in sets of 3 to either chain them together for an attack (vertically) or make a defensive wall (horizontally). If you managed to create a chain reaction, you'd get more moves per turn. And then both sides would blast the heck out of the other and whoever killed the hero first won.
Anyways, it's really fun and if you like that sort of thing, it can be found on the XBox 360 marketplace and I highly recommend it. I think Clash of Heroes was originally released for the DS so there's another option too.
Shadowlander has been after me to come in here and talk about Portal 2. I haven't played it very much yet. Without giving away too many spoilers, I don't think I'm even done with the intro bit with Wheatley yet. However, I've watched my husband play through a good portion of it so I know what the storyline is more or less. (Wheatley fangirl here
)
I think my life will start to calm down a little bit here in the next few weeks so maybe I'll be able to pick it up again.
For the record, I can do a mean GLaDOS imitation.
Reepi, I've never had many problems with Steam but sometimes it needs to download so much stuff and that can be very frustrating if you just want to play a game. What prices are games in the US store? Here in the Australian Steam store games like Portal 2 cost $50. Is it something similar for you guys?
Currently watching:
Doctor Who - Season 11
Hmmmm... I like:
Jedi Outcast
Civilization III and IV
Age of Empires II and III
Rise of Nations
Call of Duty 2 and 4
Portal 2
I think that's all.

This is true of any video game/PC game you and I have ever bought. It's actually company property and as purchaser's we're simply paying for the right to play the game/program. I'm probably describing it badly, but in my poor noggin it makes sense.

See? Now was that so hard?

Now this alone might be worth doing a goofy little youtube audio-only clip! Or something similar. I want to hear "The cake is a lie". And bonus points if you can sing the whole of "I'm Still Alive" without hitch.
Civilization III and IV, Age of Empires II and III
*holds up a Cross and holy water on Civ III* I absolutely love Civ IV though The game is several years old and I can still sit down and play it for several hours and become totally immersed in it and lose track of time. Sid Meier is an evil genius.
AOE games are great by default, but I really enjoy AOE III, where my might Dutch armies lay waste to all who oppose them...and can pump out gold like nobody's business!
I wonder if we should think about getting an NWeb video gamer's circuit going sometime. I can play Gildor on AOE III and FK and I can play multi-player on Portal II (when I eventually get it, that is ).
Kennel Keeper of Fenris Ulf
I think I'm almost through with Half Life. I finally made it to the alternate dimension and I just finished killing the first mini-boss.
The G-Man is creepy, Shadow. I walked into a room and he was standing at the end of it at such an angle that I couldn't see his head. The first thing that popped into my head was "Oh, crap, it's Slender Man." and I started shooting at him before I realized who it actually was.
Here in the States, you can get Portal 2 for $30 at Wal-Mart, W4J. Not sure how much it is on Steam. I ended up buying a physical copy of it. I think I'm about 3/4 of the way done and really loving the new game mechanics, the different gels and stuff. Lots of fun. and GLaDOS remains hilarious.

Oh that may be, but if I still have one of the physical copies of many games at home, I can play them at any time I want. If Steam at any point decides it doesn't like me, you or anyone else, you lose ALL your games you have paid for and can not play the games you have paid for. Sounds nice enough?
And then, no comment on the other points ?
And regarding the pricing, there is a handy site called steamprices, which can be used to track prices of steam games in the varying regions. My favourite tab on the page is "Top Ripoffs", where you can see for your region how much more you are paying for the same game, just because! http://www.steamprices.com/au/topripoffs (Hah, take that, Australia! Pay 80% more for the same game, even though you aren't even going to get a physical copy, but a bunch of data which is the same worldwide! More profits for Valve, more profits for AMERICA, YEAH!)
Not cool, Steam. Not cool at all. Portal 2 costs close to $100 Australian in shops at the moment. Our dollar value is different to the US but not that markedly different! It's online robbery!
Reepi, I don't like you.

November and December have a lot of great Nintendo games coming out.
I'm thinking Zelda: Skyward Sword at the top of my list.
Be watching for the release of my spiritual warfare novel under a new title: "Call to Arms" by OakTara Publishing. A sequel (title TBD) will shortly follow.
I am thinking
skyward sword
Mario kart 3ds
super Mario 3ds
paper Mario 3ds
kid Icarus.
I don't have a 3DS at this point, so those games would not be on my list. I'm thinking about it, but I need to be careful with my money as after this school year, I need a job that can pay off student loans. An occasional game is one thing, but a system with games is something else.

I will buy skyward sword and Mario kart but i will wait for the other to go secondhand which takes only about a month.
