A question that sometimes drives me hazy: am I or are the others crazy? Hospitality Committee

Well, it didn't take quite as much time as it did to get the first game working, but i finally got the second "Mass Effect" game working.

I'm not real far into yet, but so far i'm liking it. I'm a bit irritated at how they changed the combat system, especially since i was just getting used to the ME1 system, but i really like the improved graphics, and

Spoiler
the new Normandy.
Related to that spoiler - i understand why they named it what they did, but i wish they'd been a bit more creative. :p

I was a little surprised how happy i was when

Spoiler
Joker
showed up again, since he didn't do much in the first game, but i guess it was nice to have a character show up i knew i could trust - after dealing with "The Illusive Man" and Miranda. And his Firefly reference didn't hurt either. ;)

Anyway, that's a lot of opinion for not much progress yet. I just hope this game doesn't mess me up too much for playing the first game, as i have a few more profiles to finish in that one.

I just finished playing ME2 myself (I do my steady best to unlock all the achievements that I can, but there's a few that still elude me ;))). I also liked the improved graphics, but I question the judgment of taking things that worked so well in the first game, such as ammoless guns, landing on planets for mineral exploration, the Mako APC, and even changing the planetary orbit view. Half of the fun of ME1 was just flying around exploring different solar systems. ME2 lacks in that area. But otherwise it's a very good game, and I love how one can start their own customized character in ME1 and have the same character doing their thing in ME3, when it comes out. ;))

Finally got the 3DS remake of Ocarina of Time. I have been playing the game and finally finished it 100%, except for fishing the hylian loack. Other than that I have done all the sidequests, collected all the mask, obatined all heart pieces and even o tained the cow form Lon Lon Ranch. It was fun to relive the classic in 3D. I have to say I really like the 3D in this game. The 3DS is know worth buying and I finally can truly use it.

I've been going through my Gameboy Zelda series while on vacation here in Colorado. Already did Minish Cap and now mostly done with Phantom Hourglass. It's been fun watching my mom's reaction to seeing me do stuff with the DS that you typically wouldn't expect from a game boy device. I love the creative ways the Zelda games make use of the DS features such as the mic and even at one point making you close the DS and open it to move on.

Zelda fans underestimate the DS Zelda titles. Spirit Tracks is truly a great game with great use of the touchscreen. Although the Spirit Flute could be annoying when it sometimes didn't work. I yet have to play the Minish Cap complete, but I have to say I love the first dungeon. Have you playes the 2D Metroid's on the Gameboy Advance? Also, have you got to try the 3DS? Ocarina of Time truly looks great.

The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword is apparently comming in November, so it seems.

Same here. From what I've seen from previews, Skyward Sword may have the best swordplay in video games yet. I'm not talking about the animation movie sequences like in Final Fantasy where they can motion capture the actions and such. I'm talking about in-game play. From what I hear, you don't just swing a sword and the animation does it for you, you need to swing at a particular part of the opponent's body. And being a fencer, I know good swordplay when I see it. And so far the best video game sword battle I've seen/played is Link/Ganondorf in Windwaker for GC. I hope that gets beat in SS.

Be watching for the release of my spiritual warfare novel under a new title: "Call to Arms" by OakTara Publishing. A sequel (title TBD) will shortly follow.

Anyone interested in the upcoming Star Trek game? It's set after the 2009 reboot and the writers for the reboot have already stated that it will be in canon. I'm hoping it will be good since the last Star Trek game I played was fairly terrible.

And just two months until Arkham City comes out! :D

I bought Half Life off of Steam last week. I don't normally play shooters, but I'm having fun with it.

That looks like a fun game, Booky. The only other pure Star Trek shooter game I remember was Star Trek: Elite Force back in the day, and it was an excellent game. ST games are so hit and miss that it's difficult to gauge whether or not one will be good, but this one definitely looks good. :D

Awesome!!! Half Life 1 or 2? Oh what's it matter? ;)) They're both great games! Fallout will always be my favorite series, but Half Life is right behind it. :) I just wish they'd release HL2 Episode 3 already...it's been quiet on that front for several years now and they left all of us hanging in meantime. Please let us know which one you got so we can talk shop!

This may surprise some but I have hardly played any video games in over a month. Been doing a lot of writing lately and now I have Grad School. I've been really frustrated with my Kingdom Heart Series. I had played 358 1/2 days for the DS so I wanted to check out the rest of the series before all PS2 games went out. I found KH2 first and 1 1/2 hours into the game it freezes. Not much I can do about that but get a new one. Then I got KH1 and it kept freezing on the opening scene. I usually have never had those problems with Game Stop Games. I know my PS2 is getting old (had it for probably 8+ years) but my other games still work. I've got KH1 switched on warranty but haven't had the time to test the new disc out yet.

And I'm still waiting on Zelda: Skyward Sword. I'd reserve it if I knew I would be able to get to that store in a reasonable time. Plus I'm looking at a move right around that time. So there may not be a point to getting until after I am settled. Afterall, when you are moving a mobile home, you have to pack up everything before you start shutting down utilities and move the house. Then you have to get things like electricity and water in before you can start unpacking. That process is expected to start right as Zelda: SS is coming out. Going to be interesting.

I picked up the Half Life 1 pack. It has the original game, plus the two expansions and Team Fortress Classic. It was a pretty nice deal, 15 bucks for all of it. I think I'm starting to like this Steam thing. :D

Steam gets a lot of negative publicity, but I've never understood why. It has a huge game selection and the prices are reasonable. Plus they often have the game packs like what you're describing, so you can get some pretty good deals.

HL1 pack is great, it's what I cut my teeth on ;)). HL1 will keep you occupied for a long while. Opposing Force is truly one of the very best expansion packs for any game I've had the privilege of playing ever. Blue Shift is ok, a decent expansion but much too short. My understanding is that it was intended to be ported to PS2 but things fell through and they converted it to a PC game. How many times have you spotted the G-man so far? ;))
