since it was a TV movie, I think this is where I would post something of that nature - I watched that ABC TV movie "Cyberbully" and wow. just wow. after seeing it, I was more grateful than ever to have been homeschooled all my life. Emily Osment did an excellent job as the main character, Taylor Hillridge, who gets a a laptop for her birthday and signs up on a social networking site. She starts to feel alone as her friends ostracize her and she falls victim to cyberbullying. for me, it was very much a wake up call to what kids have to deal with every day that I never had to deal with because of being homeschooled. this movie gave me an eye-opening view into what cyberbullying can really do to a person. I think every teen should see this, even just for educating purposes, to see where their words and actions can lead.

Rather enjoyed last night's episode of Castle, "The Blue Butterfly." It tied a modern-day murder investigation to a 1940s-era via a diary from that period. About half the episode was in flashbacks to that time, with the characters portraying those from the 40s. It's a sort of "film noir lite" take on the hard-boiled Sam Spade PI, hitting all the cliches of the genre. I'm sure the writers and actors had fun with it, as it gave most of them very different roles to play. They even included the "It's the stuff dreams are made of" line from The Maltese Falcon.
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
Anyone else catch The River on Tue?
I thought the whole
Not sure what to make of it yet.
And I've been wondering, Does anyone else watch Face Off on SyFy?
I really love seeing the concepts and ideas each of the contestants come up with each week, I also like the difffrent challenges they are given.

Anyone else catch The River on Tue?
A part of me is relieved I'm not the only one watching that show. It's already making a name for itself in the action/horror/adventure genre, and it's not going light on the horror element.
To anyone curious what The River is about, it revolves around the fate of a world famous naturalist/adventurer named Emmet Cole (think of the Crocodile Hunter, but without the Australian accent and the need to fool around with crocodiles ) who, along with much of his production crew and his boat, the Magus, goes missing somewhere deep in the Amazon river basin while searching for "magic". Believed dead his family begins to move on, his son about to earn a PhD at university. Then 6 months later out of thin air Dr. Cole's personal transponder activates, which leads a greedy producer who used to work for Cole to put together a team (including Cole's wife and his son Lincoln) to investigate and see if they can rescue him. The show is taped in documentary/interview style, which gives it a Blair Witch quality at times. So the team ventures deep into the Amazon River into uncharted portions of it and finds the Magus, now a landlocked hulk and seemingly abandoned. Already the jungle has begun to claim the ship as vegetation grow rampant throughout. Further investigation by the team discovers that the ship's panic room has been locked...and welded on the outside, to keep something locked within. So they decide to break the door open and....well, you'll just have to see for yourself.
The show, much like Lost did before it, really seizes my desperate love of pure adventure in the Robert Louis Stephenson/Alan Quartermain manner. Exploration in the Amazon? Sign me up! Adventure involving some potentially unfriendly mojo lurking about as the result of Dr. Cole's quasi-mystic misadventures? Keep it coming! This is not a show for someone who is easily frightened, it has a few "what the..." moments as the story unfolds. I'm curious to see how long they manage to keep the plot line going because I'm already beginning to see a pattern where each episode features some strange, otherworldly adventure for the crew to get involved in, but each is unrelated to the next except to move forward the main plot a hair or two (sort of like Once Upon a Time is quickly becoming...seriously, do you honestly think we'll be seeing Cinderella or Hansel & Gretel again anytime soon, if ever?). I really like it, and I know a few other folks on here would probably like it as well, but I'll be honest, this show is not for everyone. For me...well, I'd sign on for the trip just because this is neck deep in High Adventure in the purely Classic sense....mixed with a bit of horror to keep everyone on their toes. Even I consider this to be the scariest thing on TV since 1979's TV miniseries Salem's Lot.

oh boy! "old TV show". Makes me feel old. I grew up on that show. Never missed an episode, until it reached its final year that is. I loved it. You did good with the show.
Lately, been watching a lot of White Collar. Pretty much love it.
I've been catchings bits and pieces of other shows as well - another episode of Doctor Who, In Plain Sight, Breaking Bad and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Random thoughts on each:
Doctor Who - I don't love it (yet) as much as a lot of other people do, but it's enjoyable.
In Plain Sight - Not bad. It's more about the main character and her dysfunctional family than about the "case of the week", which is okay except i'm always wondering what they're going to do to screw up their lives this episode.
Breaking Bad - My dad is watching this, and even he says he can only take about one episode at a time. I haven't seen too much of it personally, but my sister tells me about it. Basically every episode offers yet another horrible thing drugs will do to your life.
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine - I've only really seen two episodes. I hear it's the best of the Star Trek series'; well, it's not there yet, but i'm willing to give it a chance.

"The Empty Child", "The Doctor Dances" and "Dalek". I've seen "Blink" on-line as well.

"Blink" is among my favorite DW episodes.
DS9 is quite different than the other Trek series. In the words of its own creators, it was 'grittier' and less sparkly-clean than TNG. The station is run down (especially as the series begins) rather than the spiffy Enterprise D.
That said, once the series found its stride, I quite enjoyed it. Just like TNG, some of the earliest episodes don't come off that well, but later ones can be very good.
Once the
Some of my favorite episodes are not really related to that long arc, but make good stand-alone episodes: "Our Man Bashir" and "Little Green Men" come to mind.
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
*sees "Star Trek" mentioned, and shows up*
7chronicles, Libby, I'll have to get to you two later on. I really do want to talk about what you brought up, but this needs attention, I think.
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine - I've only really seen two episodes. I hear it's the best of the Star Trek series'; well, it's not there yet, but i'm willing to give it a chance.
I'd be really interested to hear where you heard DS9 was "the best of the Star Trek series'". Anytime I've talked with people, or read stuff online, TOS and TNG are the ones named as the enduring favourites.
I know you didn't know you'd be getting yourself into this soapbox, and I apologise in advance. I don't know what comes over me... someone mentions "Trek", and I just can't keep a flow of chatter and emotions from overtaking me.
So, yeah... sorry in advance. And I hope I don't hurt your feelings in anyway... it's not my intention.
Ok, now that that is out of the way ( ), here we go...
My opinions (the short version) on the shows:
In order from least to greatest:
Not on the scale: TAS (The Animated Series)- I haven't seen this one at all, so I can't comment. A lot of the time it's not considered canon anyway.
5) DS9 (Deep Space Nine)- Part of this is because it's the one I remember least*, but sadly, it's at the bottom of my list. (then again, SOMETHING had to go there, right?) I remember liking it well enough, but it never grasped me the way the rest did. Was this because it was on a spacestation and not out exploring? I know not.
*I've seen reruns of the others on tv the last few years... but this is the one show I haven't seen at all since it aired. Sad, but true.
4) TOS (the original series)- Hate to say it, but this does make my bottom two. I really do love Spock and Bones, and their interactions with Kirk (who annoys me). I still laugh at Scotty, and think Sulu's fencing is cool. But... I just don't know. I like the others better. *shrugs shoulders, and then dodges tomatoes*
3) ENT (Enterprise)- I guess I could even say this ties with TOS... and that there is no fourth or fifth slot in my system. I never hated this one as much as other fans do. I thought it was interesting. Though some things bugged me, too.
2) VOY (Voyager)- My second fave (obviously ) I don't know why I find it so fascinating, and maybe with a few more hours of thought I could come up with a few reasons... but I just love it! Fun fact: I can now say that I have met the Doctor (Robert Picardo) from this show, as of February 3rd.
1) TNG (Star Trek: the Next Generation)- I have a sneaking suspicion that this is first in my mind, because it was the one that introduced me to the franchise. (it first aired when I was four, and I remember watching it from the get-go, with my parents and sister) That said, it's well known as a popular one... even for people that think they hate all things Trek! There are things I could copy from wiki that prove my point about it's popularity, but I'll save that for another time.
Ok, enough about me... on with the opinions of MOST fans:
these are mainly taken from reading countless sites online... but also talks with RL friends and family members. and yes, i'm paraphrasing for most of this
1) What they say about the shows
Best: TOS or TNG
-they hate TNG's early seasons (namely, 1 & 2); and call Wesley Crusher "the Jar Jar Binks of Star Trek". (I'll say my opinion of him elsewhere)
-there is always arguing about which captain was better... Kirk or Picard
-when most people hear the word "Trek" they think of these two shows
So-so: VOY or DS9
-they like VOY better than DS9 and ENT, but don't think it lives up to the first two. And the general favourites on board, are the Doctor and Seven of Nine.
-DS9 is generally considered ok, but something is missing from it that the others had. That said, they like that Worf and Chief O'Brien (and his family) are back
Worst: ENT
-mainly, fans tend to hate ENT. Some like it, but think it was iffy til season four. and they all agree that the end was horrible. Some people refuse to see it period.
I'd say more, but I don't have time, and it took me a day or two to figure out how to say this much. Besides, sometime this week, I'll be opening a Star Trek Special Feature (I just got the go-ahead from the SO mods). So, we can talk all things Trek in there, once I get it typed up and open.
Hope all this helped!
.................
Now, having completed my away mission, I must really be getting back to my jobs on the Enterprise D. See ya!
"Enterprise? I'm ready to beam up now!"
*is beamed up*
I'll be glad to offer more comments about Trek in that Special Feature. Looking forward to it!
LOST alumni sightings update:
Emilie de Ravin (Claire Littleton) was in the latest episode of Once Upon A Time - an interesting take on the Beauty and the Beast story. She portrayed Belle. The portrayal was influenced by the Disney animated movie: she wore yellow and blue dresses reminiscent of the animated Belle, and there was a chipped teacup. No other spoilers, except that I liked the episode.
Alan Dale (Charles Widmore) played an industrialist in an episode of Torchwood (2.06, "Reset"). This isn't a new role, but I finally got around to viewing it for the first time today.
Also keeping up on Alcatraz. I'm still on the fence - interesting characters and premise, but it still tends toward the 'case of the week' format.
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
Mostly, i've just heard good things about DS9, and some of my friends who watched every episode of every series said it was their particular favorite. The only Star Trek that has unreservedly interested me was the latest film, so i wouldn't know much about the general ST fandom's opinion.
I've only seen snippets of ENT, and have no real interest in seeing it. What i saw of TNG was okay, and i have a vague fondness for Voyager - being the first Star Trek i ever recall really seeing. I've seen parts of TOS, and have no real interest in that either.
