yay a thread on photography
Wow there are so many amazing photographers here.
Anyway I do mostly fine-art/experimental photography, so it might look a little strange to some people, but it is mostly about the meaning in the photograph I aim for.

Cool photos, all!
A few from me: more from my hibiscus tree and a few of a dragonfly sunning himself on the pool fence.
Hibiscus #2 (I love the lighting and water droplets in this shot.)
Mr. Dragonfly #1 (How cooool is he?! Beautiful creature.)
I have some others, but they are more astronomy-related, so will post them in the Meteorology thread sometime this week.
Just for a tease, though ...
The full moon and Jupiter in the south-east, the latter hanging like a jewel beneath, as if on an invisible string. This was taken a couple of weeks ago.
And here is a wonderfully mysterious shot, taken from our backyard. 'Tis a bit blurry, but the effect is still there. Taken a couple of winters back.

A few pictures from this past summer:
Friends around a fire...people's images cropped for privacy.
Our state fair...is a crowded state fair!
Split Rock Lighthouse celebrated its centennial with Friday night lightings over the summer. Here's a view of the clouds lit by the sunset. Note all the cars; this was a popular event:
A calm Labor Day morning over Bear Head Lake:
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
^Wow, I just love the last two pictures! All were great but the last two raelly caught my attention. It's so soothing to see and the scenery is such a natural! I really love the nature!

starkat, those horse pictures are lovely! The horses are beautiful.
And gazer, I like your pictures too. The one of the sun setting is particularly brilliant.
Jo, what a truly dazzling dragonfly! I find dragonflies very fascinating, as long as they're not trying to fly up into my face. That one's very beautiful.
These pictures are from a few months ago, but I haven't been able to take many artsy photos lately, so these will have to do.

My goodness, I had forgotten this little thread existed! I've lurked here a few times, but never posted until now. I'm in love with photography, and my love for it has grown since I "inherited" my dad's old Canon Rebel and got Paintshop Pro for Christmas! I've done two photoshoots using my "new" camera, so I've obviously primarily practiced shooting people... and I can't post those pictures on here . However, I did get a scenery-ish shot during my first photoshoot with my roommate. Funny story... we were actually broken down on the side of the road, and the field/woods we were in had all these fuzzy things floating around it and the sun was setting and I just had to take the picture!
And here it is in black and white:
I love the way it turned out and thought it was worth sharing with you guys! I hope to take more photos of nature in the future and will post some that I like here amongst you very talented photographers! I've enjoyed browsing through the pictures ya'll have posted here!
"Oh telescope, keep an eye on my only hope,
Lest I blink and be swept off the narrow road.
Hercules, you've got nothing to say to me,
'Cause you're not the blinding light that I need.
For He is the saving grace of the Galaxies."
Lovely pictures, everyone!
Three pictures from this past summer. I need to resize my recent pictures before I can post them. So, snow pictures coming soon.

I love taking photographs of sunsets. I've never taken nay of a sunrise yet.
Which do you guys prefer? Taking photos of sunsets or sunrises?
