There are plenty of people who agree Pierce Brosnan is a better James Bond but they're probably not on NarniaWeb. Still, I think even they would have trouble with your assessment that he plays a more realistic Bond.

Doctor Who - Season 11
Sorry to say but I also think Pierce is pretty wimpy as Bond. I like Daniel Craig better.

I really appreciate all the feedback on James Bond! What a great discussion. I watched Die Another Day, but I wasn't that impressed. It was a bit cheesy and over the top and didn't have the same atmosphere I enjoyed so much in Casino Royale. I can't say whether I think Brosnan was better or worse than Craig, but I just like Craig as an actor better and I think he's a better actor overall.
Liberty: I thought that movie was embarrassing. It has such an incredible cast and Horowitz is an accomplished screenwriter, but it was not a good movie, as I remember it. I watched it many (meaning about 5) years ago, though so my memory of it is not great.
I've not watched a wide variety of Bond films, and honestly I've never had much interest in the franchise, but I did think Daniel Craig's take on the character was the best I've seen. The other films, particularly the Brosnan ones are too mired down in techo gimmicky-ness for me to take seriously. Seriously, an invisible car?
I saw Wives & Daughters and Sense and Sensibility a little while ago during a miniseries fest- they were both really good! The latter especially considering I didn't find the book nearly as exciting (I mostly just wanted to give Marianne a slap upside the head most of the time). The actor who played Colonel Brandon was brilliant; reminded me a lot of Liam Neeson actually.
Which S&S did you watch, the new one or the 1995 one? I love the latter, and I totally agree about slapping Marianne. I've never had any patience with her, the goose. But in the movie, I did so want her to get Willoughby .. .
Watched "The Russians are Coming, the Russians are Coming". That classic old film never gets old, with lots of laughs and sweet moments too. Makes me like Russians a lot.

A few days ago I watched 'Scott Pilgrim vs. The World'.
It wasn't what I quite expected but it was still good. Amazing visuals!

I've not been too much of a James Bond fan. The only ones I've really seen are the Pierce Brosnan ones. Die Another Day got my attention due to the sword play shots, but as a fencer, I could wallop both of them together quickly. The weapons they use with the scoring apparatuses are epees, and that is NOT how you use epee. The hand is just as much of a target as the body and I kept seeing 'hand shot, hand shot, hand shot'. The bad guy was supposed to be preparing for the Olympics. Horrid form. Then the 'real' sword fight afterward was poorly set up and wasn't too impressive on the choreography side of things. While swords are very impressive to me and I will check out just about any movie with a sword fight in it, they really need to show that they have a clue about what they are doing, not just actors with memorized actions. The Zorro films were much better on the sword fight scenes IMO.
I was impressed by Scott Pilgrim overall. Of course, you need to be a gamer to catch a lot of the stuff and references. There are a number of musical pieces in the soundtrack that are straight from games including Zelda, Mortal Combat, and others. I still don't think I would buy it, but I would not be opposed to seeing it again.
Be watching for the release of my spiritual warfare novel under a new title: "Call to Arms" by OakTara Publishing. A sequel (title TBD) will shortly follow.
Kate: I loved it! but not everyone is going to like everything! to each her own! but you might like it if you saw it again! try it! it's really epic!

I think James Bond films are probably some of my faves! I like Pierce Brosnan becasue he has a cool sort of charm and he has good sharp whittyness, but I'll agree that Die another day (Although my favourite JB film) was a bit unrealistic, the explanation they give about how the car works is just rediculous! I liked Madonna in that film but she didn't really seem to serve a purpose which was irritating...it was like they put her in that dilm so that they could say "Look, its madonna, in a James Bond film, and she sung on the soundtrack "
Casino Royal was a good film although it took me a couple of watches just to understand what was actually going on, however when I saw Quantem of Solace i was lik WHAT WAS THAT It didn't make much sense to me and just seemed like an excuse for lots of guns and car chasing without much of a story going on...
Just my opinion though
Narnia is childhood...
Seriously, just give the kid the orange. He needs his vitamin C!
It sounds like what everyone does like Pierce Brosnan for is his Britishness; i.e. the wit and suavity he brings to his character. That's what I recall of him in that old show, Remington Steele.

I watched the new one. I don't remember if I've seen the old one, but after struggling through the old versions of Persuasion and Mansfield Park (the latter absolutely murdered the beauty of the book in my very humble opinion) I'm more inclined to the newer versions of what the BBC produces. Although some elements I dislike- such as the modernism that creeps in sometimes. And why did you want her to 'get' Willoughby? I thought the duel between him and Colonel Brandon was the best payback (especially for a 'goose', lol).
p.s. obviously I've forgotten how to quote.

I do usually agree with that - the new P&P for example, is magnificent. But I would really recommend the 1995 one. It's excellent. A duel? Yow . . I'm not so sure I want to watch it . .
