The first looks of Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss have just been released

Tintin: Even though there's a lot of violence in the comics, I always took it a little lighter than the trailer showed.... I think it's cuz it always seems like tintin gets into lots of scuffles throughout the story.... As for Captain Haddock my guess is that they'll water down (hehe, pun ) his alcoholism

I was just about to post that, but you beat me to it.

She looks awesome. Almost exactly how I picture Katniss.

I think she looks wonderful. She still looks a bit old, but really, they did a great job. The lapel on the outfit is a little odd, but she looks like Katniss alright.

Ithilwen: That's really interesting. I'm not a huge fan of that form of animation, but it's definitely an interesting technique.

She looks pretty good! Still a bit old, but not so bad. And her hair came out great. Costuming looks appropriate, as well. The bow looks like it's a pretty unique one.
I can't wait to see the other pictures when the magazine comes out.

Jennifer looks great as Katniss! I just started reading the first book a week ago and so far I love it and cant wait to see the film!

Haha, I too came here to post that pic of Jennifer as Katniss. She looks AMAZING. I was fully for her being Katniss, but seeing this just makes me even more happy about it. The funny thing is she looks almost exactly how I pictured Katniss in my head. Which doesn't usually happen with me, that the person cast looks how I want them.

I found parts of the article that went along with the picture intesting:

I have hair and makeup people coming to my house every day and putting me in new, uncomfortable, weird dresses and expensive shoes, and I just shut down and raise my arms up for them to get the dress on, and pout my lips when they need to put the lipstick on.’ And we both started laughing because that’s exactly what it’s like for Katniss in the Capitol. She was a girl who’s all of a sudden being introduced to fame. I know what that feels like to have all this flurry around you and feel like, ‘Oh, no, I don’t belong here.’”

Anyways, I'm soooo happy with Jennifer as Katniss, in case you didn't catch that CANNOT wait for this movie!!

I know what you mean. The violence in the books was always sort of comic, like for a laugh, not really "dark". I hope it's not too heavy and intense in the movie.

Hehe, I was actually surprised it wasn't up yet considering every time a piece of Hunger Games news comes out everyone beats me to posting it first I'll probably buy the magazine when it comes out (did it say when in the article??? I guess I'll just have to keep a lookout at the newstands)... Something I also caught (not sure if anyone pointed this out already) while rereading the articles is that they're shooting district 12 in NC

I like, that picture of Katniss though I can't say I love it. I always just pictured her different I guess, with longer hair. I do love seeing Jennifer with the brown hair though! It looks really pretty on her!!!! And she still needs to get rid of the blue eyes.....

Actually, if you look closely, she has gray eyes in that picture.

Her hair is decidedly brown ... I thought Katniss had black hair, myself, but brown is better than blonde. And she looks pretty good, overall.

Hmmmm yeah I get what you mean gf1, I saw her hair thicker and a tad bit longer since it's kinda her trademark look... Other than that, I'm pretty happy with the picture, yeah her eyes have a bit of blue tint but they can always touch that up or something

They've named Portia and Octavia apparently. They will be played by Latarsha Rose and Brooke Bundy respectively. They are both lovely, but I bet anything they'll look really bizarre by the time we see them on-screen.

Still no word on Cinna though. There is some speculation about Lenny Kravitz, which would be a VERY interesting casting (since most of the plugs for Cinna I have seen have been young effeminate Andonis-es).

Is Cinna and the redhead avox girl (I know she's finally given a real name, but I can't remember it at the moment) the only "big" casting announcements left for THG??

I really hope Lenny Kravitz isn't Cinna though... I always saw Cinna younger and had a softer look than Kravitz, who reminds me more of someone who could better pull off a capitol citizen with out-there fashion and stuff.

I Cinna and the Avox girl are the only ones left.....wait we still need a Madge, though she isn't insanely big. And the other 2 of the prep team

I hope they get someone light and young, like how she describes him in the book, the craziest rumor I've heard is Adam Lambert

I really think Ben Barnes would make a killer Cinna. And I'm not just saying that because I help run NarniaWeb. I just think he'd fit that character perfectly.

President Snow hasn't been cast yet right? He's the other one I'm really curious about.

Ooooooh, I hadn't thought of Ben before!!! He does seem really good for the role (and please no Adam Lambert... unless you wanna make him apart of a prep team )

Oops I forgot about Snow... do you think they'll even have him in the first movie? And I really hope they don't cut Madge... although her role will probably be smaller
