The geometric details of this trench are amazing, but unfortunately it's miles above my budget:

In grey, adorable yet practical:

I fell in love with the stripes on this one:
http://www.target.com/Merona-Striped-Lo ... ombrowse=1
but I've tried it one before and it's too light for the winters where I live.
I like the baggy pockets on this one:

More pockets!

Alas, I still haven't found the perfect one yet.
Quod Erat Demonstrandum
Oooh stop posting coat pictures!! They're all soooo cute, and I don't need to be spending money just now!
I have something similar to this that I found at Ross:
http://www.kohls.com/kohlsStore/womens/ ... eacoat.jsp
But because of my longer-than-normal arms, the sleeves are ridiculously too short. So I rolled them and viola, three-quarter length sleeves! Which is fine unless I have a long sleeved shirt underneath....
I'm having a love affair with plaid this winter:
http://www.kohls.com/kohlsStore/womens/ ... l+Coat.jsp
Can I have it please? Though not in wool: Florida is notoriously NOT cold enough. But I have a skirt with that exact same pattern. LOVE
This is a cool design for a denim jacket:
http://www.kohls.com/kohlsStore/womens/ ... Jacket.jsp
So very NOT short and boxy, I approve.
WANT these tights.
http://www.kohls.com/kohlsStore/womens/ ... Tights.jsp
They would go awesomely with the aforementioned gray plaid skirt and a pink sweater. Though what kind of shoes would you wear with them? I know you're supposed to match tights to shoes, correct?
The awesome Valiant Lucy gave me these:

I can't wait to try them out!!
So this winter I'm branching out: tights, booties, and jeans tucked into boots. Can't wait for cold weather....

Goodness, there was a lot of plaid up there. Sorry to be going against the trend, but plaid is horrid, IMHO.
Cute boots, PrincessMia!
Okay, so, while looking for some images to base my artwork off of, I accidentally ran across this:
Yep, you guessed it. That is a dress completely covered in...what else? Peacock feathers. 2,009 peacock feathers, to be exact.
It took eight people two months to finish it.
Here is the dress on a model, during a wedding show.
The dress is priced at a whopping $1.5mil. It appears they skimped on the top--or perhaps they simply ran out of peacocks?
I don't admire the dress, but I do think they made it go well, with the fabric on the top. but, still....

WOW, Wren. That is one fabulous skirt on that gown.
It reminds me of this gown... which is a whole lot cheaper. (Of course, it's supposed to be an owl, not a peacock, but owls are cool too.)

Wow, that peacock skirt is something! The matching of the top is lovely.
Well, a museum here has a section called "I Do!" and has authentic wedding gowns and things alike from as far back as the 1840's, all donated heirlooms. They. are. gorgeous.
It was super interesting to see how styles changed. And boy, did those corsets look uncomfortable! The 20's dresses seemed much more airy and light. I'm pretty sure my favourites, though, were the 1800's ones, some in the Victorian era and a little after, and one especially lovely dress belonging to the 1970's. I can't begin to describe how marvelous it all was.
Additionally, they had accessories and showed brooches and stuff fashioned out of hair as a sign of courtship or something. But, anyways, it was all very pretty. The one that looked the most comfortable and pretty put together (the one that didn't belong to after the 1920's) was probably the 1870's.
Here is one of the ones that I liked, and the picture I could find on the internet. I do wish I brought a camera...
Anways, moral of this is that I'm grateful that corsets are out of attire but I miss swishy, long, pretty dresses.

i just went shopping and look at the awsome shoes i bought, converse are the only shoes that look better on people with big feet then small feet.
I must say, the barn owl is quite inventive, and pretty cute. I think I like it better than the peacock.
Just as a reminder, August is coming to a close, which means September will be starting, which means its time for.....
A New Polyvore Challenge
If you have any ideas for the challenge, please PM either Val or myself with your idea or thoughts.

Yay, another polyvore. I'd forgotten all about it....
*thinks of a theme*
Wow, nice shoes ILoveFauns, are those robots??
Cannot imagine how tedious that must have been. I don't do tedious well

And, dun dun dun...the new polyvore challenge is!
Back to School! Put your thinking caps on and lets all come up with some creative variations on this theme
Here's mine: I wasn't feeling terribly creative, but I especially like the "dressier" part of it--that sweater with the bell sleeves is divine! Then I did more casual yet still nice looking with the T shirt, red shorts, and converse. And I just had to stick the cloak in there cause it was just awesome.
Before I post mine, here's a picture of a dress I just got for a semi-formal occasion coming up this weekend:

yes robots, robots are awsome because i am into the whole future thing.
Holy cow, those are some "intense" tights! Very colorful outfit for the casual side.
Cute sweater and awesome shoes on the dressier side.
*gets creative juices flowing*
*sigh* This is going to take a while

You all are so amazing at Polyvore. I love seeing what you come up with! I just started playing around with Polyvore recently, and it is so addictive.
Here's what I came up with for the Back to School challenge:
The outfit on the left is probably my favorite, just because it looks so comfortable and casual. I can definitely see outfit #1 as being a first day of school outfit—something you feel really confident in, but not anything you're going to be fussing with all day.
I really love the color of the flowers on the shirt (can you tell I like florals? ) and the hue of the belt and the boots of outfit #2. And I LOVE the buttons on the skirt.
Back to school always makes me think of cooler weather (even though it doesn't really cool down in my area for at least another month after school is back in session ) so a fuzzy argyle sweater and some corduroy jeans seemed like just the thing. I love the combination of those shades of purple and green!
Keep the Polyvore challenges coming! I love them.
Your new dress is really pretty, Valiant_Lucy! I love the asymmetrical ruffles on the top.
Ooh I love yours, Rose-Tree! Very soft and put together, all of it. Love how you paired the green scarf with the purple argyle sweater, very fab
I want this tote: http://www.overstock.com/Clothing-Shoes/Burberry-Pink-Plaid-Tote-Bag/2469080/product.html
Right now please. But $400?? Uh, yeah.
These, however.

These will be resting in my closet next Steak n Shake check. Or perhaps the one due tomorrow. Hmmmmmmm.

Those boots are going to look awesome, Mia! What are you planning on wearing them with?
Rose-Tree, I love the "bright" and peppy feel of your Back-to-School set
The October cover of Vogue magazine has just been released, and it's Carey Mulligan, wearing (I think?) Chanel Haute Couture. I think she looks lovely!
Also, there's a behind-the-scenes video here: where you can see some the other amazingly beautiful gowns she wore for the photoshoot.

EDIT: Mia just sent me this link--the blog post contains a chart helpful in determining which "season" of color you are. I think I'm a cool winter, and can wear some cool summer colors. What about you?

Double posting cause I can (well, it's been 24 hrs...)
I wanted to post a link from my facebook for you guys--it's some photographs I took today of some newspaper clippings I found while cleaning out our garage (which is actually the original homestead log cabin from the 1860's). There's loads of "fashion" clippings dating from the early 30's!
