Glad to hear you're all right, Rose!

Hard to imagine hurricane-style storms when winter is knocking at the door here. ;)) The past few days have been the glorious autumn ones I love, but a cold front blew through overnight and brought snow northwest of here. No white stuff here, but the wind chill is in the 30s F. Frost is likely tonight.

The weekend should be warmer again, allowing for one last fall orchard trip.

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

Temporary heat wave coming through here. It's supposed to be 94F today. #:-s
But tomorrow the high is in the 70Fs so we'll be right back to normal weather this time of year.

I thought of you this past weekend, fantasia, as we had summer-like weather so late in the season (heavy thunderstorms Sunday evening, followed by warm and unseasonably humid weather Monday). A weather report noted that as warm as it was here, places in Kansas would be pushing 100F. That's just crazy. ;))

The past week has had the kind of autumn weather I love - cool crisp days and nights full of blue skies and starry nights and colorful trees. It's the kind of weather that makes up for some of the local shortfalls the rest of the year (spring allergies, summer heat, humidity, and bugs).

I enjoyed a campfire last night under the stars, partly knowing what was coming - several days of cold, wet weather (all good things must end). Some neighbors reported seeing snow this morning, though given the current conditions I suspect it was actually tiny snow or ice pellets rather than regular snowflakes.

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

It's not often we have completely opposite weather Gazer, but we're getting warmer, not colder. It's supposed to be in the 80Fs in a few days and won't cool off until after Halloween. Kind of nice for the trick or treaters. :)
We did have a noisy storm move through last night and got an inch of rain. :)

A bit of that heat is coming our way, fantasia, with weekend highs way above average (possibly reaching 70F/21C). Not bad for the end of October.

The storm the other night was another page out of June's playbook, with spectacular lightning and more heavy rain (4 inches/100mm) here, with some minor flooding thanks to all the saturation from recent rains. It also nudged this year into 10th position on the all-time wettest list, with 2 months to go. The record is within reach.

Up untill last Friday I'd have said that 70F/21C was not bad for the end of October down here. Yes we've had a few days above that amount, but mostly this has been the coolest October in 30 years. This weekend we've had some stormy weather.

The past week here has been way above average, with warm weather continuing into November. Tomorrow may hit 70F again...amazing!

Local media is abuzz with talk of records falling this week. The Twin Cities set a record high today for November 5 (73F/23C), breaking a record set in 2001.

But more surprising are: latest date for first frost of the season, currently November 7, 1900 but expected to fall this week, with no frost in sight for the next week or two. And the longest period of consecutive days above freezing (0C), formerly 207 in 1894 and 1900, is tied today and will be shattered as well.

Is your "no frost in sight" comment still accurate Gazer? We finally had official Fall arrive here in Kansas a couple days ago. We haven't had a hard freeze yet but the past two mornings I've walked out to the bus with my son to see frost on the tops of vehicles and plants. But the warmest parts of the day have been delightful. Upper 60Fs with lots of sunshine and little wind.

The weather remains absolutely glorious here, fantasia. Unbelievable for November (and a far cry from the 'gales of November' storm that thrashed Lake Superior 41 years ago today, sinking the Edmund Fitzgerald).

The Twin Cities forecast includes the possibility of frost early Saturday morning, but previously it has dodged similar forecasts of frost. (It should be noted that the rest of Minnesota, to my knowledge, has already had a frost. The Twin Cities exception is likely due to the urban island heat effect).

We've had a few frosty mornings here recently, but I think I see the first hard freeze coming up on Thursday. In the meantime, it's going to warm back up again with highs in the mid-70Fs. I think I will do my best to be outside as much as possible this week. ;))

I am back from school and today and this morning waiting for the school bus it was very chilly. Now it isn't too awful as I expect it is warmed up into the upper 50's now. It is very cloudy though with no sign of sunshine in sight.

In addition to warming as I posted above, we're looking at setting record high temps today and tomorrow. I think in some parts of Kansas it may hit 80F tomorrow. Crazy...

Also pretty nice here in Maryland, but not near the 80'd. It is in the low 60's though.
