Oh my gosh there has been an extra crazy heat wave here in Perth. Four days in a row of over 40C. Yes Britain this is what you call a heat wave not 28C hahaha. It has been awful. My car's aircon can't deal with it. I had to use my asthma inhaler when I was at the lights.

Kind of wondering if our winter is done here. This week we're looking at record highs, particularly Thursday where we will be pushing 80F/26C. :-o

Wow, that was our high today, and we are in the middle of the third month of summer, which is often the hottest - it was 30 for two days this week. We're all tired from not being able to sleep well.

There, shining in the sunrise, larger than they had seen him before, shaking his mane (for it had apparently grown again) stood Aslan himself.

That's a bit warm, IlF and fantasia!

Our temperatures are moderating too, but not so much. Highs may reach 50F/10C near here this weekend, and I'm considering a cookout Saturday. ;)) Our snow pack may not last much past that. Quite a change from our -10F/-23C chill of last weekend.

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

It didn't bode well for Melbourne on the other side of the rock, either. On 10 Feb we left for the Royal Edinburgh Tattoo in Etihad Stadium in Melbourne, and arrived home 15th Feb. The tattoo is much as you would expect when a usually outdoors event is held indoors, fireworks and all. It seems they had the roof closed in case of rain so of course it didn't. Then we had to go to Canberra for a funeral yesterday. Canberra was mild, warm in the daytime and distinctly chilly at nightfall. So, with any luck, the big heat might not last long after all.

After a few cold nights in February, we're looking at possible record highs on Saturday (54F/12C is the record, set way back in 1896). I'm definitely planning on some kind of outdoor fire or bbq that day.

El Nino did mean a milder winter here. We only had 11 nights below 0F/-17C, less than half of average, and there were only a couple days when the temperature did not rise above that mark. Mild winter indeed (though there is plenty of winter left, any long cold spells are increasingly unlikely).

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

El Nino is still biting hard here. 42C yesterday maximum, after a hot week, building hotter. Hotter even than Bourke, the western New South Wales town that gave us the legendary term, "out back of Bourke", or Outback, to denote what you might call "the boondocks". Definitely no BBQ's as bushfires rage in NSW, in the Hunter valley. After having the wettest January since records began, we have now had the hottest February for over 20 years.

It seems as if waves of weather go across Australia from northwest to south east and then out to sea on its way to New Zealand. Technically it will be the beginning of autumn next Tuesday but I wouldn't hold my breath for cooler weather just yet. I've heard that Perth has cooled down from the miserable time they had a week or so ago.

The weather has been crazy here. Yesterday I went to see a waterfall with friends - we had planned to see it when it was frozen. :P I was able to wear just a light jacket. The high was somewhere in the 50s. Then this morning it was snowing.

High temp of nearly 60F yesterday. The Twin Cities weather news stations were saying that the for caste for the low was above the average high. The snow cover is all but gone save for the most sheltered areas.
Watching the animal life i have seen a few of the geese already heading north, including some Snow geese. Nothing of Robins as of yet, but I fully expect to sse them show up within the next few weeks.

Here at the end of the NZ summer we have been having lots of hot weather. Several days in a row with 28 or 30 degrees celsius as the maximum, don't help us all sleep well.
(last night we had an earthquake as well, just to jolt us out of our beds!)

It must be muggy sort of heat then, Coracle. First Perth then Adelaide and Melbourne and finally up to Sydney, yesterday, the weather has been in the 35's and 40's C max, with no real relief in sight for at least a month. It is cooler in Sydney, itself, but that is only because of the nearby seaside. Where are those Southerly Busters when we want them? :((

Maybe you could fly north for relief. ;) International Falls, the 'nation's icebox,' greeted the first morning of meteorological spring with a -13F/-25C low today. Meanwhile, the mercury rose to a toasty 35F/2C here today. Temps will gradually rise here over the next week, with thunderstorms possible next week. Goodbye snowpack.

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

It is very interesting to hear from the Narnia Webbers who are dealing with oppressive summer heat. I hope the weather brings relief to you soon! #:-s Here we had some warm days that melted the snow on my pond, followed by cold days that have kept the ice frozen. Consequently I was able to go out and ice skate this evening under the stars to the sound of Owl City music. ;;) This is my favorite time of year, I am able to enjoy the fun aspects of winter but know that spring with all its robins and new growth and possibilities is just around the corner. I love the part of LWW when the witch's winter spell begins to break.

Hi the4signs[repeat], nice to see you in this thread. :) Your skating under the stars sounds simply lovely!

We've definitely had an El Nino winter. Though we have received good amounts of snow off and on the past couple of months, usually within a week we're back to brown grass again. Very sad. We just came out of another winter storm this morning, with a persistent large snow squall today that stuck around for a few hours. So, so pretty. Like Narnia snow ;) :D adding another couple of inches on to the 6" we received overnight.

The windchill was hovering around -20C/-4F last night, not bitter, but quite strong ... couple that with the snow that was falling and blowing around, it looked like Christmas should! However, as with others here, mid next-week may get up to 14C/57F, 'though dropping quickly after that unusual peak. It looks so beautifully wintry out now, and I really don't want to see our recent snowfall go, but what can you do? :P

Hearing about your warm temperatures in the southern hemisphere, though, makes me break out in sweats, lol. Stay cool ... if you can! I'm totally not looking forward to those temps here this summer. :-s :P

The temperature here is an astounding 64F/18C. That may not sound too warm but the average high for today is 37F/3C. We may even get thunderstorms tonight.

We're in that time of year between the snow melt and spring greening, when everything is drab and brown outside. How long this lasts changes each year, depending on how long the snow lasts or when the warmth and rain inspire things to start growing.

Spring may be coming but we still have 82 days left in the possible snow season. ;))

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
