We may actually be starting to see a shift in our weather. The days have visibly started to shorten as it's now 7:30 or so when lights are needed instead of 8p.m. or later. Also, there's a potential light front coming through this weekend and the lows are supposed to drop into the high 60s F at night one night. It's not a dramatic shift, but it's a start. We'll likely still have 90s through October, but a front now is a hopeful sign of a shift from hot and muggy to slight drops in temp and lower humidity.

W just enjoyed what was arguably the best weekend of the summer (or the year): crisp clear skies (with only a few clouds), low humidity, and highs just above average (around 75F/24C).

Today is also nice, but with a wind signaling a big weather change: tomorrow night into Wednesday we may get up to 3 inches/76mm of rain or more, all courtesy of the former storm Norbert which is well over 1000 miles away in the Pacific. (Nothing like the monsoon rains Arizona has been getting, however).

Then the bottom falls out of the temps, with highs Friday struggling to reach 55F/12C. Frost is possible that night, with snow possible north of here.

And our own possible snow season starts in just 6 days!

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

That's crazy Gazer. My memory of the earliest snow comes on Halloween. And that was more of a snow/ice mixture. I remember literally sliding down the steps of peoples' houses. Most of the time our Halloweens are hot.

Today is going to be our last hot day for a while: 93F/34C. But that major cold front is coming through tonight, the temperatures are dropping from the 90Fs for highs to the 60Fs/70Fs(20C). Low overnight Friday is estimated to be 44F(6C). Whew! So perhaps our Halloween this year won't be hot after all. ;))

Most of the time our Halloweens are hot.

The hottest Halloween on record here was 83F/28C in 1950, but typical Halloweens are much cooler than that - 50F/10C or colder.

Then, of course, there is the 1991 Halloween blizzard which dropped up to 37 inches/940mm of snow and remains one of the most memorable storms on record for those of us alive then.

And speaking of snow, Calgary reported several inches of the white stuff today. Sure they are far north, but this was a record early date even for them.

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

Just got home a little bit ago. the feeling I get in the air is that it is definitly fall. Some of the leaves are already changing. There are some very bright splashes of crimson standing out against the green that just refuses to give up.
With lows expecting to hit the 30'sF, we are already given frost warnings for this area, and some of the flowers in the garden are starting to droop. I must admit that it is rather depressing.
the weatherfolks on the news claim that the warmth should rebound into the 60's by the weekend, but I'm not so sure.
Time to check the insulation on the old wig-wam.

Halloween, has always had very nice weather from memory. Though it shouldn't be, in the spirit of Halloween it should be storming.

Whew! It's downright chilly here today. I know it's nothing compared to you Northerners, but we woke up to 44F this morning. ;)) And that was after the sun was up and shining for a while. It'll warm back up a good deal over the next few days, back to much more normal late-summer temperatures.
I will be curious to see what kind of weather we have this winter.

What a contrast, Watchful Admin. 100F here yesterday and 103F today. Next couple of days the same. Suppose that too hot is better than too cold when one has had a bad cold all week. ;)

Last couple nights the temps reached the lower 30'sF. So the Mrs., and I had to actually haul an extra blanket out. She said that she awoke with one hand sticking out from the covers, and it was ice cold.
I could have mentioned her feet being cold, but any other Narnians out there who are married know how that goes. ;)
But, at least I won't need to stoke the furnace yet. Temps are supposed to shoot right up to the 60's this week. Of course with the rendezvous coming up guess what's on the forecast? Rain. Friday, and Saturday :((

The weather really doesn't seem to know what month it is. ;)) It's still astronomical summer but meteorological autumn now, but with frost on the pumpkin (and the cars and tents) this past weekend, I'm not so sure.

But right now it's crisp with a clear blue sky above, some of my favorite weather of the year. The trees are starting to change colors and it won't be long before everyone's flocking to look at them before winter comes.

As Puddleglum noted though, rain is on tap this weekend, just in time for our next planned campfire. Maybe we'll both be fortunate and have dry weather instead.

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

Last blast of summer today. We got hammered with an unexpected heat wave. It hit 98F, and they had predicted 91F.
But I guess that the remnants of hurricane Odile is supposed to hit us Saturday and we're supposed to get loads of rain. :D Can't wait. We need it so bad.

It isn't all that warm here either. Rather chilly in fact. Today's maximum is no more than 68 degrees F, about 18 degrees C. Of course the minute I get back to winter woollies the temperature will go up again.

It was nice here today. Winter has gone fore sure now until next year. It was 25C I think.

We're happily enjoying Indian Summer, the sun shines every day and though the air is chilly it's still very pleasant to be outside (minus the strong winds that tend to blow a lot. The air is pretty dry and mixed with wind equals not so nice. This kinds of weather makes my hands chap and crack). At night it gets pretty cold (okay, it gets really cold ;)) ) and they haven't turned on our heating yet so I wrap up in sweaters and blankents to keep warm. I'm hoping this sunny weather lasts as long as possible before the autumn rains come in (yuck)

always be humble and kind

Well the promised hurricane rain went south of us big time. I think it stayed in Texas. But we did get about 5 minutes of heavy rain last night from another "cold" front that moved through. It's very nice out today. More possibilities for rain later this week. *crosses fingers*
