It colder today than it has been the past couple, I had to go to uni early due to having to take part in some psychological experiment. Does anyone else not like the feel of artificial heating?(not sure if that is what you call it), I guess my need for a heater isn't great but It always makes me feel over heated.

Except in the dead of summer I can live on very little water. I have tried drinking more but honestly it goes straight through me. Though when at school out in the heat of the summer I use to have to drink more.

Well, that is the point. Help cleanse the body of toxins and all that. ;)

The weather here has been pretty uneventful, though it continues to be cooler than normal by quite a bit. We'll get back up to our normal toastiness by this weekend.

Can't get over the rain they're getting on the northeast part of the US. Detroit has shut down several major interstates cause they're literally under water.

That was us in the flooding last week: two major highways were completely closed, unbelievable! Thankfully, even though there was heavy rain last night, this morning we have been given an unexpected reprieve and I have not heard of any further flooding. However, heavy rain is expected through tonight and into tomorrow, so ... we're all holding our breath!

Yep, IlF, water going through you is a very good sign, except for the fact that if you drink a lot, you pretty much always can't be too far from the restroom. :p ;))

While yesterday and today have been humid, things will start to drop this evening with the storm and by Thursday the temp should be at a very pleasant (although not everyone think so ;) ) 18C/64.4F, way below seasonal for this time of year, but then, that's been the norm for much of this summer. :D We will be warming up some again come the weekend.

Haha I am always rushing off to the bathroom which can be rather annoying. At least I am cleansed I guess, but it can be inconvenient at work. I don't want them thinking I am wasting time.

Today was colder than I expected and wearing shorts and a shirt at 7:30am should of not been done.

Maybe I should take up swimming again this summer. I stopped a couple of years ago due to not wanting to get sunburn due to all the sun cancer risks. I cannot miss an area with suncream or I will likely burn. I have avoided such burns for 3 years. I am rather pale(not suitable for my location, haha). I have no interest in being tanned either. I would look terrible.

;)) IlF, whatever works for you.

I adore swimming! Yeah, watch those sun's rays, though.

So, there was heavy rain again, but it was quite short-lived, 'even though it still dumped 20 mm. And some of the houses that had flooded in the terrible storm last week had problems again. :( So much so that Samaritan's Purse has actually come into our city to help with the relief efforts in the hard-hit cases!

Right now it is a very pleasant 17C/63F. Very late August might get this low periodically, but hardly ever at this time of the month. Anyway, I am totally not complaining. There is a brisk SW wind blowing, making it lovely doing yard/gardening work. So fresh! Coolness continues through Friday, then a warm-up to seasonable temperatures (mid 20sC/upper 70sF).

Picture this: Grabbing a cool drink from the vending machine so it can swap your notes for dollar/$2 coins, so I can do my washing. Having your bag strap snap as you attempted putting your money away. Oh well I think this isn't that bad. I walk off coke in one hand and my bag over one shoulder. It randomly starts pouring. I have one hand to which to get my umbrella out of the front pocket of my bag which it just fits into. I am unable to put my drink down because I am in a main walk way. Finally get my umbrella out and it the wind blows it inside out, my bag falls on the ground and I am officially soaked. On the plus side I didn't spill any of my drink some how.

Aha! You're getting this nice soaking, blustery rainy spell, on the other side as well! Over here on the East side, we are finally getting our month's rainfall. With any luck we will make up the previous month's almost absolute dearth of rainfall as well.

I don't dare complain. Everyone gets around in cars because of the weather. And so, not getting a parking spot near the hospital to pick up hubby, and with the car park packed full, I grabbed a vacant car space just outside the next door Tresillian clinic. I got out of there as fast as I could. :-$ I don't suppose that up in the Northern latitudes, across the ditch from UK, they have parking police and infringement notices, do they?

Sorry about your miserable day, IlF. It really is the sort of weather to stay at home, rest and recuperate.

I adore swimming! Yeah, watch those sun's rays, though.

Not today, though. Swimming is nice in nice warm weather, the sort where a swimming costume is the only comfortable attire. And not dressed to the nines in overcoats, jumpers and jeans.

The beaches here today are probably quite crowded. It's not extremely hot (only 79F/26C) but the humidity is very high - back to 'air you can wear' - so the heat just clings to you and you can't cool off. Ugh. ;))

The State Fair opens Thursday, and with it (tradition says) one of the last hot spells of the summer, with temps back around 90F/32C. We've been lucky this summer with only 2 days so far reaching that mark. (That must sound mighty humorous to those of you in warm climates that hit 90F/32C all the time. But around here it's winter that brings bragging rights. ;) )

A few locations west of here reported heavy rains over the weekend with up to 7 inches/178mm falling in just a few hours. We need the rain and may get some heavy showers of our own later this afternoon.

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

Definitly on the humid side here.
A vast difference from the South Shore of Superior last week. We awake to 47F a couple mornings.
Speaking of winter. I do like your penguin pic stargazer.

@WW today was just as rainy. My shoes were soaked by the time I made it to the lecture theatre, crossing the road to get to uni was near impossibly, since It was so heavy I could hardly see if a car was coming or not. My umbrella survived thank goodness. Early start again tomorrow and my guess it will be raining.

Ilf, winter's your rainy season, right? Over here the rainy season should have been more like last May - June. It is more showery here today. But we are supposed to get more - or so they say. Today's excursion was doing the shopping. It poured, so I thought I'd better get along home. Once I got to the car, put all the groceries in the boot, and disposed of the shopping trolley, guess what! It stopped raining, once I + the shopping were thoroughly soaked. Until I got home of course, when it started to rain again. Oh well, c'est la vie. 8-|

Oh my, IlF, is rain somehow attracted to you, personally? ;)) Wishing you a dry spell sometime soon! And you're getting it too, wagga, wow!

but the humidity is very high - back to 'air you can wear' - so the heat just clings to you and you can't cool off. Ugh. ;))

And after almost a week of refreshing, below-seasonal temperatures, we're getting that humidity tomorrow. Double-ugh. ;)) I had mentioned above it was supposed to warm up a bit over last weekend, but that never happened. It's coming soon, though. #:-s From what I have heard, we have had only a couple of days over 30C/86F this summer (most unusual), so this week will add a few more to that. Still, nothing like we usually have, thankfully! And as this is at the right end of summer, this hot spell can't last too long.

We awake to 47F a couple mornings.

Aaahhh, beautiful!

I ditto our friend Wiggle's "Like" on your penguin avatar, 'gazer. ;))

Thanks, jo and Puddleglum. This avatar is perhaps wishful thinking right now. ;))

(That 47F sounds delightful, and I can't wait until we get that here).

Dewpoints will be in the 70s F (21-25C) the next few days, making heat index values 105F (41C) or higher. And to me, this 'wet heat' is more miserable than dry heat, because you just can't sweat. Ewww.

On the bright side, only 25 days till the start of our possible snow season.

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

@WaggaW Yes August it rains basically everyday. So yes our rain month, we get a bit in july and june but it is dry most the year. She there was a more even spread. That also sounds like me yesterday visiting the bank. I had to dash across this highway to get to the bus stop in time(I would of miss the bus if I went to cross at the lights, thank goodness it wasn't busy). My shoes were again soaked.

@Jo yes it must be because it was raining as soon as I got off the bus today.

The heat and humidity has descended upon us. I guess this is finally our 'summer' ... at the end of August. :p ;)) It's nasty. Yet still, the heat index is in the low 30s (C), whereas ugly summers in the past where it have been around 40C/104F for days on end.

We heard an amazing statistic yesterday: if the regular, daily temperatures do not rise above 29 this summer (that is the forecasted temp for Tuesday and the highest yet this season), this will be the first time in 80 years!! Glad I lived to experience it. ;))

And as of now, the very long-range forecast is for another cold and snowy winter. A-okay with me! B-)

Pertaining to the few other very warm days we have had this summer, the nights have at least cooled down. Not so this week. #:-s These are not the best sleeping conditions. :p *eyes her little A/C and all the fans possible* ;))
