The weather is fantastic. It is in the early to mid twenties and best of all it is meant to be like this to at least monday.
sorry star and puddle about your blizzards and storms. Most of our storms are in june/july.
Hmm. Blizzards aren't something I've ever met with in NSW, though I've heard of them in particularly severe winters in the High Country down south, down Victoria way, and, of course, in Antarctica, all year round. So I'm also sorry about the blizzards inconveniencing you in Minnesota, up Canada way, star & puddle.
The storms are something else. Perth might get them in winter but normally Sydney gets them in summer at times when we aren't getting heatwaves and bushfires. We didn't get many storms at all this spring, or in summer, up until at least late February. And now we are getting quite a few of them, with lightning surrounding us. The weather hasn't cooled down as much as it could have done and yesterday was oppressively hot until evening when the storm arrived. It is expected to rain until next week.
Has been a lovely cold rain these past two days. It rather reminds me of the Pacific NorthWest (which I've always wanted to visit).
The forsythia is starting to bloom too. . . which is a sure sign that spring is here (although, according to folklore, it means it will snow three more times)
Provides rather a stark background to the grays and greens typical of April.

Nice picture, Digs!
Still will be a while before we see any flowers. I'm looking out the window at a fresh 11 inches (280mm) of wet, heavy snow. Areas north of here received almost twice that much, and Duluth has over 3 feet (1m) of snow on the ground. Happy spring.
But the extended forecast has temperatures in the 60s F (high teens C) by Wednesday, which should take care of this white stuff.
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
Whoa! Such bright yellow. Makes me all the more impatient for our own garden to start blooming. But I still need about two feet of snow to melt before I even see dirt.
that might not be too much longer if the weatherman is being honest. The talk is lower 60's F for next Wednesday. and 50's for the following week.
Now all I have to worry about is flooding.
Tomorrow should mark our first 70F (21C) day since last October 11, and that means one thing: a campfire and possible cookout.
The warm temps should take care of most of the remaining snow, though many lakes are still covered by ice.
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
Here in Kansas we finally seem to have escaped a lot of the latest snowstorms and cold fronts you northerners have been describing. It's been above freezing for a couple weeks now, and while Gazer mentioned 70F tomorrow, we're supposed to hit 80F.
We had one good thunderstorm the other night (yay) and a few rainshowers move through, but we could sure use a LOT more precipitation. There are a couple chances for storms this weekend, and I'm ready. Bring it on! (Of course it's also gonna cool off a lot after that which I don't like, but such is springtime...)
These April snowfalls just crack me up. The weather's haywire and more snow is predicted for next week when it turns cool again after a warm spell, especially tomorrow. Having said that, there are certainly some vestiges of snow left, but mainly the remnants of the huge banks around parking lots. Tomorrow's warm temperature (16C/60.8F) is sure to melt a lot more.
No worries, IloveFauns. Blizzards are part and parcel of life here.
Ditto. Most of us northerners are quite used to it by now.
DiGs, that forsythia bush is gorgeous. Ours will be awhile yet, particularly with the cold snap on its way.
I have seen the pokes from spring bulbs in some gardens. So pretty. But the plants must be extraordinarily confused this April, lol. As is the Dusty Miller. While it looks kind of limp, it's still very attractive.
I did not cut back my stonecrop/sedum this past autumn, and even after a harsh winter, it is still very pretty ... in a dormant kind of way.
Our area is very thankful that, despite of the many feet of snow this winter, our thaw has been gradual and therefore much less flooding than it could have been. Whew!
80°, wow, fantasia! I hear the garden calling you.
So, this weekend will be very spring-like for us, with nights still close to freezing, though; next week, on Tuesday, I believe, we may get some snow. The days following shall be quite cool as well. Yep, such is spring.

These April snowfalls just crack me up.
Was 89F/31.7C here yesterday. That did not crack me up one bit.
Enjoy the spring, LOTS.

@GlimGlum, we are still getting temperatures sometimes as high as 31 degrees C down under during the day. Though sometimes the evenings can get cool enough for a light cardigan. Your summer looks like it might be a bit too hot.
Yeah it was in the high twenties here yesterday. Today it is he same and through to tuesday next week. I think I celebrated too soon with the cooler nice days last week.
We had our first day over 90 here in southern Arizona a few days ago. It's been over 90 for the high now three days in a row. Fortunately I won't have to deal with it for long as I will be moving north very soon.

Welcome to the weather thread, HyperWing! I've seen some TV coverage of the heat in the southwest. It made me cringe. Even here in the north, summer can be too hot for me.
The past few days have been quite pleasant, with highs ranging from 60-70F (15-20C). A lot of the snow has melted and the ice has started breaking up on area lakes. But winter's not done yet! Much cooler weather is coming for the weekend, including a chance of snow on Sunday.
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
Snow. Ugh, what a word
There is still a patch of about two feet square in the shadow of my porch in the back lawn. The local weather report dares to utter the word in the forecast for Wednesday morning, as the highs are supposed to be only in the mid to upper 40's F through next week.
what I would give for a proper thunderstorm, something to pour rain from the heavens for about an hour, and wash some of this mud away.
Yesterday was our first toasty day this year. It almost hit 90F. It was pretty warm. Tonight there's a chance for snow. And tomorrow night there's a chance for a hard freeze. So I will be covering lots of stuff today.
That's quite a temperature swing, fantasia! Ours was less dramatic, from 71F late last week to a possible record low tonight of 18F/-8C.
Southeastern Minnesota received some snow overnight, 1-2 inches (25-50mm) that will soon melt. There is a chance of snow in our forecast over the next few days as well, though the sky should be clear for tonight's lunar eclipse.
