Yeah, we've got temps about 55 degrees today. It feels fabulous when you step outside and feel the breeze.
We have a snow storm coming tomorrow into Wednesday. Accuweather.com is predicting 4 - 6 inches. . . but in actuality, it'll probably be less than that.

51F today! Had the shop door open, and was very comfortable without any jacket as I worked on the current project. Normally I would be quite happy under such conditions. But as the temps rose the snow melted, and proceeded to drip from the roof. From there it wanted to flow into my shop causing me to put down the tools, and push the water out with the shop broom every ten minutes or so
After about an hour of this I took down some extra gutters I had in the garage rafters, and placed them where the dripping was worst, directing the flow downhill from the house.
Time away from project 1/2 hour. Time saved from constantly brooming water out of shop, priceless
Sounds frustrating, Puddleglum! Glad you were able to get the problem fixed.
Yeah, with the high temps and all the snow melting things have been kinda squishy. . . So. Much. Mud.

We had hundred year floods last week, and now we are expecting severe weather. What? It's just the start of Autumn here.
There are people still waiting for earthquake repairs, and bad weather and/or floods is no fun.

Now they have named the cylone "Lusi" - is that some sort of a bad Narnian joke?
There, shining in the sunrise, larger than they had seen him before, shaking his mane (for it had apparently grown again) stood Aslan himself.
"...when a willing victim who had committed no treachery was killed in a traitor's stead, the Table would crack and Death itself would start working backwards."
Is that pronounced 'Lucy' coracle?
Well now that the spring weather has arrived here (yaaaay!!!!!) I am SO ready for the spring thunderstorms that come with it. (Sans tornadoes please.) There's a slight chance for some thunderstorms coming up in a couple days but most storms don't arrive here until April and May.
Yes. We are half holding our breath for Saturday night (in 24 hrs) and Sunday.
There, shining in the sunrise, larger than they had seen him before, shaking his mane (for it had apparently grown again) stood Aslan himself.
"...when a willing victim who had committed no treachery was killed in a traitor's stead, the Table would crack and Death itself would start working backwards."
Hope that cyclone stays safely out to sea, Auntie.
In the "don't like the weather wait 5 minutes" department, this excerpt comes from the official National Weather Service forecast for the Washington DC area as another big winter storm comes in. It has just about everything:
WE SOMETIMES SAY THE FORECAST HAS SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE. I THINK WE CAN TAKE THAT LITERALLY AT THE MOMENT . . . AS THIS FORECAST HAS ALMOST EVERY POSSIBLE WEATHER TYPE/HAZARD . . . IN THE FIRST 36 HOURS. STRONG TO SEVERE STORMS . . . SNOW . . . WIND CHILLS. . . STRONG WINDS . . . UNSEASONABLY WARM TEMPS . . . UNSEASONABLY COLD TEMPS . . . POTENTIAL FIRE WEATHER CONCERNS . . . MINOR COASTAL FLOOD POTENTIAL . . . THERE IS NOT MUCH LEFT.
(from Wired)
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
stargazer. Looks to me that the weather forcaster was covering all bases as it were. can't be wrong when you predict everything.
Do like your new avatar. Though I think some might not care, they just need someone to blame.
fantasia_kitty. Do hope you have good shelter should you need it. Better to be prepared.
For this neck of the woods, we have had almost constant melt the last four days, with just some slowing during the night. Not complaining mind you, I kind of missed the gooshy feeling the lawn has when it's soaked. though it's still too cold for me to take my shoes off to have it squish between my toes.
I cannot think that it's too much longer before the frost breaks though, and we shall see some green start to appear.
Local forecast, ( hopefully more accurate than D.C.'s ) is for highs in the 30's F for next week. Should slow the melt a bit.
We were meant to have tropical storms a few days a go. At most it drizzled. They got that wrong. I was expecting to have to walk home in the rain or to uni in the rain.
IlF, very like Australia Post got the address wrong. We got the thunderstorms, yesterday and today. All rather short-lived, but yesterday afternoon's thunderstorm went right overhead: thunder and lightning simultaneously all around the house. Unfortunately, they were travelling east.
We had cyclone Lusi sweeping across NZ this weekend - here in Christchurch thousands of sandbags were handed out for people whose houses and businesses got flooded 10 days ago when we had a really bad storm with 2 days of solid rain.
So, today we were relieved to have just a lot of rain, not really flooding at all.
AND tomorrow the forecast is for a warm, very warm day! 27 degrees C.
What a crazy set of late summer/early autumn weather!
There, shining in the sunrise, larger than they had seen him before, shaking his mane (for it had apparently grown again) stood Aslan himself.

Amazing! Cyclone Lusi had been on the east side of Cape York Peninsula week before last. It must have gone almost due south to get to Christchurch yesterday. At the time, there was another cyclone on the west side of that peninsula, in the Gulf of Carpentaria, and a third developing around the Kimberleys, in WA. Apparently, the monsoonal weather hasn't finished yet.
27 C is okay. A bit warm for autumn, I'd agree, but it is a very pleasant temperature for Sydney, which has been going up to 31C and 32C, or more.
Tomorrow evening, however, Toronto is expecting a few inches of snow, and we at the western end of the lake, about double the amount
So, yeah. This storm turned into a major blizzard, with much blowing and drifting of snow. In the end, we received just under 10". Sections of major highways were closed, even still the following day (last Thursday). We heard that this system was very, very widespread, stretching out its stormy arms in the States from Illinois to Maine.
There's a slight chance for some thunderstorms coming up in a couple day
Ahhh, I love thunderstorms!
*chuckles at that National Weather Service forecast*
though it's still too cold for me to take my shoes off to have it squish between my toes.
Webbed feet should help with that too, methinks.
Wow, coracle, glad the worst missed you!
27C would be very warm for an autumn day here, but 31 or 32, wagga ... . Glad you didn't get caught in any downpours, IlF!
We have had some melting here, but there is a long ways to go yet. And more snow keeps arriving. Today and tomorrow remain cold, with high pressure dominating, but on Tuesday the temperature is supposed to rise to a few degrees above freezing, and the melting will commence again. As always, flooding in the lower areas is a major concern. I believe more snow—albeit quite wet and heavy—is to arrive mid-week.

We had cyclone Lusi sweeping across NZ this weekend...
We've also got Cyclone Hadi and Cyclone Gillian which have drifted across the top of Australia. There are always weather fronts crossing the Australian continent, up from the Southern Ocean and the Indian Ocean and over Western Australia. It is 7.30 pm here, and we are told there are signs of debris 2500 km South West of Perth. It seems odd, since 2500 km south west of Perth is a long way from anywhere, especially China. I hope we do find out what really happened to MH370, and now I wonder if those cyclones played any part in its disappearance.
fantasia_kitty. Do hope you have good shelter should you need it. Better to be prepared.
Yes indeed. I have a full basement in my house, much of which is perfect for a tornado shelter.
@coracle, what's the latest word on Lusi? We don't get much weather news up here from the southern hemisphere, except Australia's bush fires.
Speaking of fires. It's dry enough here in Kansas that we're dealing with grass fires. (Back in the day these used to be complete nightmares. Now, the fire department can get them under control in pretty short order.) The problem is that many of them have been arsons. :S Praying for rain soon! Most of our rain comes in April, but we could sure use it now.
On the other hand, the temperatures have been gorgeous. Evan and I have spent a lot of time in the backyard lately.
