LOL, fantasia, love the picture!
We finally had more snow! It is very powdery and no good for sledding, but it is snow and so pretty.
Early last week, we had the coldest day my family and I have had since we left Alaska. It was below zero for most of the day and only got up to about 8 degrees in the middle of the day! Oh, it was awesome!

Ha that house. I though a plant had grown on the outside and died I didn't realise it was tumbleweed.
The weather looks decent outside but there is a huge spider on the roof of the outside undercover area. It is just outside the door I don't want to risk going out there and have it jump on my head. I have no idea what type of spider itis . I can just rule out what it is not.
fantasia_kitty. Just read a National Geographic story about the tumbleweed. Said it's an invasive weed introduced in the 1870's from Russia of all places.
It's even been found in Hawaii.
Windy does not describe how things have been here. Not a lot of snow, though more is supposed to fall in the early morning. Depending on who you listen to we might get two, to four inches.
I figure I have enough gas in the tank for filling up the snowblower just once more. YOU HEAR THAT OLD MAN WINTER?
It is raining. Actually raining. Nice soft rain that is heavy enough to take seriously. We don't have to break out the threepenny stamps to catch raindrops which are only a suspicion. Our burnt out front lawn is soggy, the cats are frisking in some real moisture and even the temperature is more or less reasonable.
I hope the temperature is milder, though the swimming was nice. Today's newspaper thinks we might be in for a mini Ice Age as our beautiful Sun (well, when it isn't too hot) has gone to sleep.
A little rain sounds nice, wagga.
And speaking of a mini Ice Age, we're apparently headed for another one.
Today's high (shortly after midnight) was about 35F/2C. Temps have been dropping all day, and by morning it'll be around -18F/-27C. Mid-afternoon temps in northern Minnesota are already around -15F/-25C with colder air moving in.
Highs the next few days will struggle to get to 0F/-17C; lows next weekend could rival the cold snap earlier this winter. Not to mention those windchills pushing -40.
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
Heat wave in perth. You could cook at egg on the pavement. It was 37C yesterday. I am back home today and the heat is just as bad. I have been indoor in the cool aircon all day except when I had to venture out to the mail box. You know it is hot when a comedian/performer mentions the heat as soon as they go on stage(the venue was very conditioned which was good).
Definitly on the cold side today. As stargazer said -12F below coming home from work a little bit ago, and it's not warming up tonight. Add the wind, and we may be under a wind chill warning.
And it's snowing
Cooking an egg on the pavement in one part of the world and freezing them on the other.
Revisiting the 'too cold to snow' question a minute, while this isn't an absolute answer, I think it's safe to say that it can snow at temperatures most NarniaWebbers experience. This morning, sites in the Dakotas and western Minnesota reported both snow and temperatures around -20F (-29C).
As Puddleglum mentioned it's snowing here presently but the temp is a balmy -2F/-19C. That's about as warm as it's going to get for a few days.
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
jo ha today you could warm an egg on the pavement. It has cooled down slightly but the slightly cooler weather doesn't make a difference when you have to run around in the backyard to catch a rabbit that is being very painful and won't let you get this stuff out of her fur.
star I love your avatar. In Australia they call queensland the sunshine state and is true to its name 95% of the time.

Thanks, IlF. In the US it's Florida that goes by that nickname.
Incidentally, notice the crisp bright blue background on my avatar. To us that speaks of cold air that bites your nose and lungs when you breathe it in.
It may seem counterintuitive to those from warm climates, but clear skies here in the winter - even during the day - usually mean cold (not warm) weather. The sun angle is so low it doesn't heat things up much, and all that white snow just radiates heat back into space. Not to mention that clear skies usually mean high pressure, which around here means cold air coming from Canada or even Siberia.
A bit of weather trivia courtesy of local TV meteorologists: this date (January 21, 1936) was one of the coldest days ever on record in the Twin Cities with a high of -17F/-29C and a low of -34F/-37C. But 6 months later, on July 14, 1936, the Twin Cities had its hottest day on record at 108F/42C.

It is very windy outside. A hot wind. I dislike such wind but better than rain in humid weather(that awful and I haven't experiences such a thing since moving to WA where it is dry most of the summer and sometimes all of the summer).
Boy did we here in KS miss out on the crazy snow that's hitting the northeast USA today. I have a question for the people who are much smarter than I am... what's a clipper storm? All the weather stations have been referring to this storm as a clipper and I have no idea what that is.
Today and tomorrow were/are nice. Mid 50Fs. But Monday is another blast of super cold air. High of 22F I believe. Making plans to bundle up and not go anywhere.
It's going to get cold here too, with -11F/-24C for the high Monday and lows among the coldest so far (and this year, that actually has some teeth ).
Clippers (or "Alberta Clippers") take their name from Alberta, Canada (where they often form) and are fast-moving storms that usually bring just a little snow but often are followed by the big chill (as opposed to those storms which form in the western US and swing south toward the Gulf of Mexico and bring lots of wet, heavy snow north).
The 'clipper' comes from the old clipper sailing ships, which were fast-movers too.

High of about 2F or 5F above today. It depends on which bank I was looking at driving through town today. Not to windy though so going out, and about was not too bad. Nice and cozy in the wig-wam checking e-mails when the Mrs. lets me know that it's snowing, again.
Is it too late to hibernate?
Hibernating sounds good right about now, Puddleglum!
The Twin Cities received about 80mm of light powder snow last night, and while the sun is trying to come out now, the northwest winds are howling, driving the snow across roads and sidewalks. Visibility is very limited at times and north-south roads keep blowing shut. Getting out this morning was a bit of an adventure.
More chilly air is on the way, with temps staying below 0F/-17C for the next few days.
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
