It's soooooo cold!There is ice all over the roads! The high for today is 18 degrees Fahrenheit! The wind chill is negative 1! That's the coldest I have been ever!

El Paso understands your plight. Our high is about 17 today, a new record and we can only pray for cloud coverage tonight. We may get down to 2 or 3 degrees for the overnight now. That is one of the coldest temperatures El Paso has ever seen...ever. Some places around here may see sub-zero which I have never seen in the records in El Paso. And what is making it worse is that this storm has taken its toll on our power and water plants. Parts of El Paso are experiencing rolling blackout to preserve power and we have to pull in electricity from Arizona to maintain the city's core needs. That will have a major impact on whether we have school tomorrow or not. I really hope so, because I don't want the pool trick shot show we scheduled to be canceled.

No way! I live so close to you!!!! Wow that's so cool!!!! My dad said that the last time the weather was this bad it was like 15 years ago!!! I have not had school ether. we also had the power company shut our power off for 15min. this morning. We freaked out. Last year when we got 1 foot of snow the power went out for 4 days. It was awful!

That sounds about right. I was living in Colorado at that time but I remember coming down here for a week long mission trip to Juarez (the reason why I live in El Paso now) and it was this cold or close to it. I'm going to bundle up REALLY good tonight when I head to the airport to pick up the pool trick shot artist.

So how close is close? To El Pasoans, close is Las Cruces, and everything else is 5 hours or more away (mostly significantly more).

My brother shoveling our driveway...it was a solid foot from our garage to the other side of the street.

One end of our street. Some determined neighbors managed to get the other end clear, but this end is still blocked. My computer is right next to a window and I'm amusing myself by watching cars drive down the street, get to our house, stop, and then slowly turn around and go back the other way.

We got some MASSIVE drifts; this is the front yard of a house near us. Crazy!

Well, I get a 2nd snow day. While that's cool to not have class, my Intervarsity Chapter is putting on a pool trick shot show and now that will be canceled. The artist is already most the way here from New Jersey so we will see what God has for us in this now time of nothing on the agenda. Our 2nd show is still on so we will figure out what to do when tomorrow comes. It's all in God's hands.

It may get to freezing or below where I live for the first time since I moved here in January of 2007. The record low I have recorded since living here is 29.5F. At the rate the temperature is dropping (2-3 degrees per hour), there is a good chance of hitting at least 32.0F in the early morning hours.

Now that's pretty high compared to everyone else on this page; but it is a big deal for Southern California.

It was -8F/-22C here last evening, so imagine my surprise when I went out about 5 this morning to catch Saturn and the rising Scorpius - it had warmed up to a blistering -2F/-19C! It's supposed to get colder during the night, not warmer. Nothing like a -30F windchill, though, to get the old blood pumping.

Cold, Cold freezing cold. Yikes, the weather is terrible here. I feel your pain everyone! There is tons of snow in North America right now.

Not quite, Mr. gazer; only 34.9F/1.6C. But tomorrow morning we get another crack at it. Maybe you'll get up to 0F tomorrow morning, eh?

We haven't gotten the snow they thought we would get, but we sure got the ice. The city is pretty much at a standstill due to the ice. I think it's somewhere between 1/4 - 1/2 an inch.

El Paso has finally come out of the cold but only for a moment. We have another storm coming in by Tuesday I hear.

But the damage the low single digit temps, combined with teen highs has not only shattered every record on the books, it has truly crippled the city. We are in a state of emergency with little electricity and 10% or less capacity on water. Burst water lines have mixed with sewer lines at the water stations and all El Pasoans have been told to boil their water before consumption. Not only that, we are under mandatory water restrictions including washing cars, laundry, dishwashers, and even showering. This is a state of emergency and as a result of this all schools in El Paso are shut down for a 4th consecutive day which is absolutely unheard of here. This is a bad situation so we need prayer.

Got to double post here, but there is another storm coming in. Reports from usatoday says 150 million people across 40 states are expecting another super cold blast that may be on par with the one that hit last week. I need to see more about it to really make an accurate judgment on it, so we'll see what happens.

El Paso has mostly recovered from the water crisis as we have lifted the water restrictions but we are still recommended to boil drinking water. And if this winter blast is remotely similar to last week, it's going to get rough here.

It snowed again today I'm so so so so sick of snow.....and we probably have at least another one and a half month's of it. There was a very strong wind today too, and the snowflakes were small and stung my eyes and cheeks (I trudged in the falling snow for an hour today, and my brother-in-law kept shoving me into the kneehigh snow that's the last time I'll go anwhere with him )
Another annoying thing is that it was very warm the past three days and everything was melting and today it's freezing again, ice ice everywhere, the roads are very slippery and since we live a little out of town they aren't cleared either......it's kind of scary when we have to go somewhere by car. (That's why my brother-in-law and I walked home today, instead of asking my dad to meet us by car)
Oh Spring I am waiting for thee

Even though it snowed, it was still pretty wam yesterday. In fact I didn't even really need my heavy jacket. Today was a different matter though! it was freezing. the worst part was that I was walking in the opposite direction of the wind. so my hood kept getting blown off, and my ears were freexing. I reall need to buy ear muffs or a hat or something.
