It is freezing cold here! I can barely be outside 10 seconds without having a great urge to run back inside. There is a lot of snow and ice as well. However, to be honest, the worst part about it is that the cold weather outside makes it so much harder for me to get out of my toasty warm bed in the morning. *sigh*

Haha I know how you feel
We've actually had a rather warm winter it's usually from around five to tend degrees Celsius and from day to day it will get down to -15. And when the sun decides to pop it's head out from behind the clouds every once in a while it can get down to -20. We have waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to much snow for my liking and anyway I'm sick and tired of winter and can hardly wait for spring......and I have to wait such a long time. We're lucky if the snow will melt by the middle of march

It's 30F/-1C here right now...a surprising 56 degrees F (31C) warmer here than it was Friday morning, when the mercury dropped to a brisk -26F/-32C. Cities north of here reported near-record lows of -46F/-43C...the kind of weather we brag about in July.
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
Its still pretty cold here but not as bad as a few days a go. There is a lot of ice and I've nearly slipped a few times. I am lucky that I haven't actually fallen...yet.
Am I the only one who only enjoys snow before Christmas? I find it is quite useless after.

It is so warm and sunny here that I literally forgot it was Winter today. I thought it was Summer, and I almost checked the calender to find out how long it would be before Fall came.

We have a lot of ice too, it's covered the roads and you have to be very careful when you walk, it's really scary when we're driving in the car and it skids a bit
Up until recenly all the trees and blades of straw that stick out from under the snow have been covered in a prison of ice. Seriously, it was surrounded by it, every single branch, every blade of dried grass, anything sticking up out of the ground was caked in ice. It looked like we walked into a fairy tale. It looked like this. The birch tree out my window lost it's upper branches cause it couldn't hold out the weight and now it looks like this We had a warm period and most of the ice melted, but some trees are still trapped.

I'm the same, I only enjoy the snow up till Christmas and then as soon as Christmas is over I'm impatiantly waiting for spring, and I have to wait a long, long time

Wow, with this massive storm hitting 1/3+ of the US, I'm surprised no one's said anything yet. Here are some of the reports I'm hearing.
The Colorado Avalanche at St. Louis Blues NHL game was postponed today due to weather. (Can't have a game when it's not safe for the fans to come out and watch it.)
El Paso is expecting 1-4 inches of snow with lows tomorrow and Thursday to dip into the teens and single digits (F). Wind chill may hit around zero, which is never heard of here.
Denver, Colorado and Colorado Springs are experiencing sub-zero HIGH temperatures. Tonight in Denver, air temps is -16 degree. Wind Chill is about -35 degrees. That is right where Farienheit and Celsius meet (at -40).
Dallas is experiencing snowy weather for the Super Bowl prep week and it's not supposed to clear up by game time.
It's pretty intense stuff, especially if you are not used to it.

Well, here in Chicago, we're getting hammered by a blizzard that's quite epic. We've got snow and LIGHTNING at the same time. How bizarre! If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, I would have never believed such a thing existed.
I'll be in Chicago in April demonstrating my fencing skills at a big collegiate tournament. I know it will be warmer then.
I've seen strange weather too. Snow or rain under a clear sky is certainly rare. So is going from 60 degree to below freezing and snowing in the span of 1 hour.
I would love school to be canceled tomorrow but lighten up by the evening. My Intervarsity chapter is flying in a profession pool player who uses trick shots to preach the Gospel tomorrow night for a show Thursday and Friday. So I really don't want school closed Thursday since UTEP will be the host venue for that show. But I'd love it closed tomorrow. We'll see what happens.

They are talking about snow here in Houston on Thursday night/Friday morning. It tends to vary on what weather report you look at, but if it really happens, it'll be the third year in a row (if it sticks). That'll make it legendary not just record setting. Wild.
Oh no! Category 5 cyclone reported for Northern Queensland, Australia, at midnight. This is bad, very bad.

Too right it is! According to the satellite photos, Cyclone Yasi is as big as Hurricane Katrina. And for those people who wondered about the clockwise/anticlockwise thingy, you can look up a comparison on this Yahoo page.
Meanwhile it is absolutely baking over here among the Cockroaches. . We had a top temperature of 42 degrees Celsius, I'm sure, and this is our hottest week for 30 years. Even at work the building, the stairway bannisters etc, were hot enough to warm a cup of tea.
I hope everything is a bit more bearable down south among the Crow Eaters.
It was a warm 35 today. 42 is terrible. We had that same temperature about a week ago.

Pretty much every school in El Paso has closed for the day. El Paso VERY rarely sees single digit temps in F, and we are that cold right now, and will be tonight as well. That's good news for me because I have homework due tomorrow night that I can spend all day today doing (I won't but I'll make an effort.) But I really hope it works out for flights tonight and for school to be open tomorrow.

That's unfortunate news about the cyclone Down Under. Stay safe! (I can't even imagine those sorts of temperatures right now, as it's more than 60C colder than that here right now).
That massive US storm just missed us, but as the proud recipients of 10 inches/25cm of new snow from a different storm on Monday, that's okay. Driving down the streets is like driving through a canyon with 10 foot/3m (or more) tall walls on each side. They're already worried about flooding this spring when this all melts.
Hope you enjoyed your thundersnow, Gymfan! It's very rare here as well, but when it happens (especially at night), the weather watcher in me drives me outside to watch.

We're in that situation now as well, with today's high possibly reaching zero F. It's rather intense cold even for those of us who experience it each winter.
It'll be tough going for the Green Bay fans to get to Dallas for Sunday's big game, as Chicago and Milwaukee both are digging out of 20+ inches of snow. Driving is impractical and the big airport hubs are backlogged with thousands of cancelled flights.
Here's a satellite image of the big storm - over 2000 miles/3200km from end to end.
Today is Groundhog Day, and Pennsylvania's celebrity has predicted an early spring. Around here the weather people like to chuckle a bit - the worst-case scenario, the story goes, is 6 more weeks of winter. That only brings us to mid-March. People would be dancing in the streets if winter ended that early.
The timing of the date comes from the old cross-quarter day Imbolc - roughly halfway between the winter solstice and spring equinox. Hence the choosing of the 6-week period (to the equinox).
