By the Lion's mane!  

Thank you for sharing this incredible find!  It really does look like a Narnian shield!  It's not much like the ones in the movies, but it definitely fits the descriptions in the books.  It looks much more Narnian than English to me anyway.  I know the "lions and leopards" design you're talking about, and it's a cool bit of history (especially for people like me who are into medieval stuff in general).  But this is just INCREDIBLE!  I wonder if it's too late to add to my Christmas list.

Christmas came early this year, and the shield is truly amazing! It's not as much like the shield in the movie as I thought, but you can't help but look at it and think "Narnia"! Nearly all the details are identical, most notably the lion (which IMO is the most important part by far) and the details behind him. The biggest differences are the colors and the shape of the shield. But at the end of the day, it's the coolest thing in my room. I'm only trying to point out the differences for others who might be on the fence on the subject, to help you decide. For me, it was a no-brainer. ? 

@geekicheep, That's awesome! The differences such as the gold rim aren't  at all offputting. 

I may have to reconsider buying this...

@geekicheep, that's really cool! I know you posted about this a while ago, but would you be able to share where you purchased this shield? The link that started this topic is sadly broken now. I've never seen a shield quite like that for sale before, and if the price is right... well it will certainly be tempting.

Hey, @eagle-scout, sorry I didn't see this sooner.  Short version: it's all about the search keywords.  Apparently whoever made these marketed them as Richard the Lionheart shields.  It's funny, I was a big fan of medieval stuff back in the day (the historical as well as the fictional), and I had no idea he had a different shield (or did he?).  Anyway, that's what they're called, for whatever reason.  So I searched for that (here's a link):

And it came up with several of these.  I see one for $99 as of right now (which is actually less than what I paid lol).  Hopefully you can find one you can afford.  I love mine; it didn't come with a strap (which would have come in handy for the occasional opportunity to wear a costume) but it does come with a space for one, and had a chain for hanging on the wall.  It's every bit as cool as it looks. 🙂
