I'll be interested in hearing what Arnold does with the material, certainly. His score for Amazing Grace had its moments on disc, and was quite enjoyable when heard in the context of the movie. This quote from him does make me wonder, though....
The one thing I love about those things is that there are no rules. Nothing is actually real, you don’t actually have to worry about having a responsibility to truthfulness in a real sense; it’s just about how to make the film’s feeling and heighten the film’s effectiveness. You’re not telling a true story. It’s not like Amazing Grace which was a film about something that really happened, a film that has actually affected real people… A giant talking lion (in Narnia) is not the same sense of responsibility.
I think Arnold is just saying that in composing for Narnia, since it is a fantastical world, he can write fantastical music, without drawing attention to itself in the wrong. By the way, it seems that the cover picture for The Voyage of The Dawn Treader is up at amazon.com. http://www.amazon.com/Chronicles-Narnia ... 743&sr=1-1 I kind of like it , even though it's yet another close up picture of Aslan. (Snow also, sheesh, you'd think it was the wardrobe all over again.) At least the White Witch isn't on the cover. I really hope there's a good picture of the Dawn Treader on the back cover. Now we just have to wait for track listing and length of disc.
That probably is all he's going for in the quote, but I just don't like the way he phrased it: "not the same sense of responsibility," etc. Pretty much all the language I'm hearing from the filmmakers at this point makes it sound like they're great artists slumming it in children's fare. Whatever.

Here's the cover art for the new soundtrack
What's the deal with all the snow? Do we have to be reminded yet again of the magic of LWW?
I saw the movie....and was disappointed
If I didn't know better, I would say those were bubbles in the water and Aslan is drowning or something.
^^^lol bookwyrm. You certainly keep life comical(and entertaining) on the forum!
I'd be very surprise to learn that was official artwork. There are a lot of red flags that go off for me when I look at it.
A. It's a different Aslan headshot from what's been used on every other piece of merchandising.
B. It's snowing. (Huh?)
C. No mention of Walden Media or Fox anywhere on the cover.
D. It's not exactly.... professional looking imho.
E. Some time ago Amazon started allowing regular people to upload images. Why? I don't know. But this certainly makes me think it's fanart.

Ok besides the snow ( ) I think it looks a whole lot better that the most recent poster. They should have used water though, and maybe included the ship somewhere. Definitely looks more like Aslan than the poster did. To light for my liking though.

It doesn't say that it's a consumer image, though, as Amazon usually does in such cases. But I would be greatly relieved if it were one.

I WANT this to be fan art! The cover doesn't say VDT at all! It says LWW = wrong movie! Yes, the production wants people to return to the magic of LWW, but this is a different movie! We need a ship!
Gregson-William is not doing the music?! I am officially scared for Voyage of the Dawn Treaders life!

hey everybody Carrie Underwood is doing a song VDT!!!!!!!
My nightmare has officialy come true!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Country and Narnia!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I dont know if i am going to like this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
^ What's wrong with country and Narnia? As both a huge country music fan, and a huge Narnia fan I've actually been hoping to hear something like this for quite a while. I don't see why they would conflict, infact there are a ton of country songs that would fit perfectly in with Narnia- I think people just have all these stereotypes about what country music is, when infact it's not all like that, in fact very little of it is. For me the reason why I like both is probably very similar, because they both capture the deeper emotions, spirituality, and adventure that is life.

Just because she's a country singer doesn't mean the song will be. She sang "Ever Ever After" on the Enchanted soundtrack and that doesn't come close to being country. She's also done "Jesus Take the Wheel" and while that does have a bit more of a country flair to it, it isn't a pure country song. Underwood has a great vocal range and should do a great job. Don't underestimate her because of the type of music she is known for singing.
People looking forward to David Arnold's score, should click on the following link to read a great interview between Paul Martin and the composer.

Anyone want to share their thoughts?
I just read this it's amazing
http://www.narniaweb.com/2010/10/narnia ... ment-25689
it made me very happy.
to quote my thoughts on the comments page
YES YES AND YES!!!!!!!!!!!
That is pretty much exactly what I needed- someone who is able to pick up on both the spirit of the books and the spirit of the movies at the same time. They mentioned the changes, but they also mentioned the original themes that we hadn’t heard much of yet. Does this mean Reep may have his little poem after all? And this shows that there may be a stronger theme regarding the journey for Aslan’s country than what many of us had thought! x1,000,000
I'm feeling much better about everything right now
