its beautiful!

i hope someone can take a photo of the entire sail, because it looks like there is some kind of design/ symbol on the upper right corner there.

we also have yet to see Caspian’s standard as King of Narnia. will it look just like Peter’s? or would it have changed slightly given that he is also Telmarine? or would they come up with a completely different standard for Caspian the Seafarer?

Thanks starkat! ;)

Hmmm.....the sail is a bit more, um, blue-ish purple than I had imagined (or maybe it's just the lighting), I think I'll have to see more of it form an official opinion....

Wow, the sail looks good! I'm really curious to see what the design is; I can't even begin to imagine with the little bit we get to see. Any guesses?

Oh, and while we're at it...

If I haven't said it already, I am officially sold on the look of the Dawn Treader. Seriously, guys. Does it still look like a carny ship to you? It looks beautiful and regal! I thought they were NUTS when they went the colorful, ornate route, but they've convinced me. If the ship can look this good with professional photography, imagine how good it's going to look on film. OY! :D

Does anyone know what they will do with the ship once the movie is finished?. I hope they leave it in Queensland so i can go see it for myself.

I don't think we know for sure at this point.

It is way too big (I think) to put into museum, though I could be wrong.

If they do end up taking it apart, I hope they at least save the highlights (the prow, the sail, etc) for public showing.

well after shooting this sequence they said they'll be dismantling it and reassembling it somewhere else on the Gold Coast. whether they'll leave it in Queensland is anyone's guess. unlikely though, this thing can fit a large soundstage even fully assembled.

so yeah, enjoy it while its there. B-)

I have wondered about this too. That really depends on if anyone had something in mind for the set afterwards. It certainly wont be needed for any sequels. ;)

It would be nice if it does not meet the fate of the Millennium Falcon set prop from The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. That famous ship from the Star Wars universe was taken apart and set outdoors on the backlot of a movie studio. Eventually, it was broken up and sold as scrap.

Sets from Harry Potter can be found at the Warner Brothers Studios in Burbank, California. Harry's room under the stairs is actually a full prop set on small wheels.

We will likely know the fate of the Dawn Treader prop in good time.

*three AMAZING images*

Now those three pics are amazing indeed Gymfan,
No words describe the joy I have right now having seen those as well.
They do look beautiful and regal. I honestly don't know how I am going to survive the next year and three months waiting for this movie to be released.
I hope they can work on getting them out closer together.

While not a dragon encounter, jacs1234 of Flickr posted a short video of the filming at the Dawn Treader set. Nothing too interesting - like a visible minotaur - but it gives a different view. Decidedly windy too. Thanks to jacs1234 for sharing it with us!

I thought the sail was going to be more of a reddish-winey color to go with the rigging but I LOVE the purple, it is regal, majestic and royal, the design is beautiful, and the Dawn Treader is SET TO SAIL!!! #:-s

Gorgeousness!!!!!!!!!!!! *sigh* The tail lantern is really beautiful, too. Dwarfs' work, by the look of it. ;) :p

Ok... I may be a bit slow on the uptake, but has anyone else noticed the similarities from this:

to this:

Two apparent masts, dragon's head, wings up front, etc?

Haha, nice, Starkat. Now that I've seen a full-length photo of the BBC DT, I'm actually starting to think it's not as streamlined as the Walden DT. Hmm.

thanks for posting the vid nonetheless Ceppault! you can see how beautiful this ship really is, the way the gold tail catches the sun's rays. and thats real sun, not CGI. i hope that they have some kind of quiet piece in the movie where the audience can just absorb the Dawn Treader in all her glory.
