I do love this bonkers country.

Talking about that "bonkers country
- and a little story from about 41 years ago: When I was just about to turn one year old in January 1985, my family (3 older siblings & my parents & myself) went over to England. We spent most of our time in England (as my dad was there for a teacher exchange program) but we also spent time in Europe. We were over there for a whole year. Anyway... long background to my bonkers story - we arrived in London early in January and a day or two after our arrival there was a significant snowfall in London, which as far as I understand it, is not that common in that part of England. Of course, for my older siblings and my parents (for whom seeing snow was very irregular) it was a rather exciting treat!

We are having another bout of Weather in my country. My city has had high winds all day, with varying amounts of rain. There might be a few branches off trees in some of the parks, and certainly some exhausted leaves that have given up clinging to their twigs and branches. I'm glad to have stayed indoors most of the day.
There, shining in the sunrise, larger than they had seen him before, shaking his mane (for it had apparently grown again) stood Aslan himself.
"...when a willing victim who had committed no treachery was killed in a traitor's stead, the Table would crack and Death itself would start working backwards."
We have been experiencing similarly windy and wet weather here in Victoria, Australia this today and this evening. This weekend we're expecting a wintery blast today, tomorrow and over the weekend. The temperature today didn't get past 18 degrees C, tomorrow is supposed to be likewise 18 degrees, and the evening temperatures are supposed to be under 10 degrees for the next few evening. I believe this is apparently the coldest March days in 7 years. I almost feel like having a fire going this evening. The rain is, I might add, greatly appreciated. And for me personally, I do love this wintery weather.

At this rate we will never get around to mowing our lawn.
Lately, the backyard is looking like a jungle.
If it isn't petrol shortages it is storms. Last Saturday, we had a massive one passing directly overhead, with thunderclaps so loud, it made the house shake, preceded by quite big hailstones, almost as big as golf balls.
To make matters worse, I get hay fever or something like it in autumn, so haven't been very well.
But we are now in the rollercoaster weather of springtime in the midwest. Our forecasted high temps for the next week look like this....
59F, 74F, 94F, 96F, 60F, 62F, 80F, 82F.
I guess there's something here for everyone.....?
Yep, 'tis springtime in North America!
Up and down temperatures, all over the map here. Lately, we have had snow, freezing drizzle, lots of cloud, rain, frost, some sun, a couple of milder days (including today, sitting at 13C / 55.4F).
Much later tonight, the temp is plunging to -6C / 21.2F, with windchills at -13C / 8.6F ... much nicer for walking than it was early this morning, when it was simply too warm for me (a few degrees above freezing, but with humidity in the air). I lasted 50 minutes, but was thoroughly sweating not long into my walk.
Tomorrow (Friday) night is to be nice n' cold, and Saturday, snow flurries!

That sounds lovely, Pete. Really glad to hear you have had more rain. Aaaand, I heartily ditto the love of wintry weather! It is so invigorating, fresh, and crisp, isn't it? I feel so alive in cold weather, especially when snow is included. Enjoy!

My full week in USA (15-21 March) had four seasons in it. From summer heat to below freezing! It was spring in S Carolina.

Today we had a cold change, with more stormy rain, & hail or is it sleet? We heard this morning it was snowing in Orange, NSW. Snow? In March in Australia? Today is Friday, 27/3/26, five days after the Autumn Equinox. That is as weird as Hobart's snow last Christmas Day on Mt Wellington.
@jo
thank you,
I have to come on and gush about our unexpected snowfall early this morning. The forecast was flurries, with the temperature around -10C / 14F and a slight windchill, but on my walk (which began at 6:05 this morning), the clouds moved in thicker, and the flurries began. But they did not stop there: I was walking through quite the snowfall a couple of times. It was simply glorious!
No one was outside yet, being a quiet Saturday morning, so I was reveling in the far-reaching countryside vistas as they became dusted with white again. And as the dawn grew and I could see into the distance more over acres and acres of farmers' fields, the snow falling was as a beautiful haze, giving the evergreens in the far distance a blurry appearance. I only wish this was the beginning of our snow season ... not the end.
And when I left for the farmers' market at 7:15 am, the snow became even heavier. All around was covered with a pristine layer of white. Love it, love it!!!

Well I'm glad that you are able to put a braver face on winter than most...but it takes all kinds! Speaking for myself, I don't think I could handle 3 more month of what we just went through!

I'm not brave ... I just love cold, snowy weather; the more, the longer, the better.
In Autumn and Winter I feel fully alive; in summer I feel half-dead.
But I fully recognize that I (and my family, who also enjoy the snow) am in the minority.

Totally fair! I do love autumn as well (Maybe even more than summer).
I have noticed that it seems to be a running gag in the winter months that you and I are reporting roughly the same weather conditions in this thread except you're excited about it and I'm annoyed about it

Well March is literally storming out! Crazy light show last night and more storms throughout the day today. I love thunderstorms so this has been a treat 🌩️ ⚡

After a couple of cloudy cooler days, we have sunshine today! Trying to get myself walking more, so I visited family members 15-ish minutes away on foot.
It can only get cooler as we crawl towards winter.

Ah! but would you still like all that snowy autumn & winter weather, if by some horrible chance, we had the sort of disaster situation portrayed in a movie called The Day after Tomorrow? (explanation on Wikipedia). Or the White Witch's 100 years winter?
According to a Rio Tinto presentation we saw at the Melbourne Museum in 2011, there was once a time in Earth's geological history when it was no more than a giant snowball in space.

I expect that winter, when it arrives in New Zealand's South Island, would be much colder than it would be even in Hobart, Tasmania? For myself, after last week's cold snap, I am beginning to feel a bit better.

I certainly had a good ol' chuckle about our excited/annoyed contrast.
I love thunderstorms, too, and we have had a few good spring ones lately. Glad your area has had these treats, as well, Glenwit. The intensity in them; the oft magnificent clouds; the steady—sometimes torrential—rain; the stunning lightning; the powerful thunder, whether sudden and nigh earth-shattering or (especially) looong, low rolls ... all make for wonderfully adventurous weather!

Seriously, this sure would be better than hot, humid, life-draining summer weather.
Ask my family: I have often said I could live in a region of the world that has winter-only weather. Although, I readily admit, a few Autumns thrown in would be A-1, as well.
As for our week, rain has nicely dominated, with this past Monday being the warmest March 30 in nearly three decades—20C / 68F. This morning, however, was a lovely 0°C / 32F, so I walked my full hour. The night sky was awash with really cool clouds ... what I could see in the dark, anyway. Then, as dawn grew, that quite heavily overcast sky turned a pretty grey/dark blue.
Our temps continue to be up and down, with today and tomorrow sitting at 6C / 42.8F, then Good Friday jumping up to a very non-seasonal 22C / 71.6F! Thankfully that is not staying around, but it is a foretaste of the warmer weather to come. There could be a fair bit of rain over the next four days. Next week looks to be somewhat drier, with daytime temps right around 5C / 41F; nighttime, a bit below freezing. Great walking weather!
