It's hard for me to describe it, but to just say that PC turned out much different than I thought it would. I think the one thing I didn't like, which I just mentioned in the music thread is the lack of significant change in the music score. I want the original theme carried throughout the series, but each movie should have it's own unique sound built on top of it. I didn't get that from Prince Caspian and hopefully the new composer will do that with VDT.

I thought that there were some casting choices that could have been better, (no I'm not referring to Ben Barnes) but overall just like to sit back and enjoy the film without getting to analytical.

All hail Gertrude, the Narnian Centaur!

Miraz was by far the best thing about the movie. I love how the writers were able to take the somewhat flat character from the book and give him life, and Sergio did an absolutely amazing job of acting, especially since he doesn't speak english. Way cool.

Actually, all the Telmarines were cast really well, and I liked how Prunaprismia was given a small but significant role (at the end). I hope I'll be saying the same about VDT when it comes out!

Umbarto--totally agree with you about Miraz! He was the BEST. For me, he was what made the movie worth watching. Some things really ticked me off (caspian on the whole) but any time with Miraz was pretty sweet. Sergio just nailed the character. I thought the Telmarines were for the most part (at least the more important ones) were well-developed and I liked their culture. The biggest annoyance for me about the Telmarines was that Prunaprismia didn't have an accent (not really). And she's even Spanish!

I think overall the movie was OK. It's fun to watch again, but not my favorite at all. I'm not sure how I compare it to LWW. In my opinion, LWW is more fun to watch with big gaps in between. PC skips a whole lot of important, "boring" scenes (like finding Cair paravel) and goes for battles instead, which are more fun (for me) to watch over an over again rather than walking around overgrown ruins (although when I saw it for the first time, it totally ticked me off). There were a lot of things that ticked me off about PC, especially the dialog and the battle tactics *sigh*, but it's a pretty good movie. Not my favorite at all, but good enough that I haven't given up hope on the movie adaptions.

Aravis -- I'm gonna have to disagree with you about Prunaprismia, namely for two reasons.

1) She said a total of like 30 words, and...

2) I feel like she had a very good accent. Let me explain. I have an aunt who is Mexican and when she was growing up, only Spanish was spoken in her house. However, when she started going to school, she had to learn English and now-a-days she speaks English without any accent At All. So my aunt's lack of accent I think influenced how I heard Prunaprismia's accent (lol, if that makes any sense :) ) So, what I'm trying to say is that it is entirely possible that Prunaprismia grew up without the hard core accent that, say Miraz grew up with. For me it just helps to individualize each of the Telmarines.

Well, that was kind of long winded for talking about an accent, but maybe it will help you next time you watch the movie. I hope so!

I agree with those who say Miraz was fantastic. Sergio did an amazing job. He was the perfect oppressor to fear. The scene where he gets crowned is my favorite scene. I even could imagine him putting on the crown all by himself (just like Napoleon) if there wouldn't have been anyone around him willing to do it.

All in all I liked the movie (found it a little bit too dark though) the only thing which annoyed me was the - in my view - unconvincing 'love story' between Susan and Caspian.

But I hope with VDT they will return to the more light-hearted telling of the story, just like it was in LWW. Yet I guess the light-hearted way to tell Prince Caspian was probably too difficult since the book itself is 'darker' than the LWW book.

The acting was top-notch for the most part, and so were the locations and art direction. I just think there's still something unique about this series we haven't yet seen translated to the big screen.

The only thing I can say I'm very dissatisfied with is the script writing. Some characters, like Peter and Susan are radically different from their book counterparts at some points. I'm really concerned they're taking more and more liberty with Lewis' writing over time as they make these movies, which in the long run, might not be a very good thing.

But I'm optimistic about Michael Apted and VDT. 'Amazing Grace' was very well done.

I would have to agree, I like the way Sergio played Miraz. He brought the character to life. I also love the faith that Lucy had. No one ever seemed to believe her, but she was strong, I love that.

The action scenes were great and the costumes were amazing, especially the Telmarine battle armour, spectacular!

Overall, I like PC more than LWW.

The movie nailed almost all the emotional beats from the book, while LWW missed most of them.

The essence of the book is the sadness of the old days being gone, and the hope that they might return. Return. The Myth Becoming Fact. Faith. Hope. I believe it was all honored in the movie. They did a great job taking a very uncinematic book, and transforming into something that worked as a movie without losing the essence.

Of course, it has its flaws. Peter: Good idea (rooted in the book), but poorly executed. Suspian: A complete abomination against what Lewis was trying to accomplish with the story and Caspian's character. But overall, the ideas and feelings I love about the book were also in the film.

Oh.....and Reepicheep, the ultimate fan-favorite, was freaking awesome! One of the most beloved characters and children's literature and they brought him to life brilliantly. What a thrill to see that.

Overall I originally thought I liked it better than LWW but upon re-watches I have realized, though I still love it, I prefer LWW to it.

PC,
it's an amazing movie, I only wish it followed the book more closely,
however the feel of it was still there as GP says. Miraz, the actor, was amazing with his role I agree, but as a villain he's not as great as Jadis.

I have a few complaints about it, but nothing excessively that makes me dislike it. I give it 8/10 stars as opposed to LWW's 9/10. :)

Hmm...I never thought of it that way. Thanks for that perspective! One thing though, is that I felt that she had the accent I "wanted" her to have in the movie in one of the deleted scenes. Specifically, the scene where she gives Miraz Jr. to Miraz and says something like "Where is Caspian?" I thought her accent was just top-notch. But she sounded so different on the bed saying "I thought you said he died in his sleep".....

My first thought was :-o get those acters back and remake it the right way (like that's possible) at least give Peter a good attitude. :((
But I like it ok.

I was actually really impressed with the movie when I saw it in theaters. Whenever I read the book, the dangers never seemed, well, too dangerous. But the movie really made the danger and evil come alive with Miraz and the sorcery scene in the how. It was there in the book, but the movie gave off more of a sense of urgency which I liked.

The change I had a hard time with was the character change in Peter. Uncalled for romance and an added castle raid scene were easy to deal with compared to Peter's changed character. Why did they have to do that? That's not who Peter was.. that just didn't seem right at all. It's like in lotr when they changed Faramir's character, it's just not good [-(

But overall I like it and think it was a worthy sequal
