A compendium of all the recordings, & how they were developed, whether audio or visual, of C.S.Lewis' seven Narnia books, so far, to be released along with the new Magician's Nephew Netflix film.
The Delinquents
The exploits of the gang of 12-year-olds who terrorise the entirety of Woop Woop Primary School in rural Queensland.
We of the Never Never
"Now you are a lioness," said Aslan. "And now all Narnia will be renewed."
(Prince Caspian)
Life in an area of New South Wales, which isn't quite as far away as Back O' Bourke, or North of the Black Stump, but which is still called the Never Never, because people are sometimes told to never, never go there, when it is just as wild as tales of the old Wild West which baby boomers of the 1950's would view in Saturday matinee cinema shows.
A Bush Christening
The tall but true tale (I assure you) of how a native shrub, in someone's backyard, came to be christened VB, after somebody spilled the eponymous beer over it during a barbecue.
The Loaded Dog
"Now you are a lioness," said Aslan. "And now all Narnia will be renewed."
(Prince Caspian)
A Saint Bernard stuggles through the snow with not only brandy but food for a whole day, a book to read, and a bottle of water, for a traveller stuck in the snow.
The Good, The Bad and The Alien
[it's actually a kids' Dr Who novel I picked up at a book-share shelf this week; um....]
There, shining in the sunrise, larger than they had seen him before, shaking his mane (for it had apparently grown again) stood Aslan himself.
"...when a willing victim who had committed no treachery was killed in a traitor's stead, the Table would crack and Death itself would start working backwards."
A World War I story showing how warfare on that sort of scale disrupts once peaceful, good-hearted communities, alienating some to become nasty & less tolerant of strangers within their midst.
The Singing Tree
The account of the creation of a quite unique musical sculpture in rural Lancashire, Northern England.
The Lord of the Rings
"Now you are a lioness," said Aslan. "And now all Narnia will be renewed."
(Prince Caspian)
The life story of Mohammed Ali, the famed American boxer, who for boxing enthusiasts might well have been considered "The Lord of the (boxing) rings".
Tom's Midnight Garden
Tom was staying in London, in a block of flats with only a bit of drying space attached, but when one night he was awoken by the grandfather clock in the downstairs foyer striking 13 times, he looked out his window to find there was a lovely garden in place of the drying space, with a tree in the centre. Planning to look for those magic rings he had been reading about in his library book, if he heard the clock striking 13 times again, he was disappointed that when he did hear the clock strike13, he only saw a storm blowing down the tree.
Wombat Stew
A children's story about an wombat family that runs a diner for truck drivers, with the signature dish usually referred to as "Wombat Stew". (Their menu does, however, point out that no wombats are used in it)
Smith of Wootton Major
There, shining in the sunrise, larger than they had seen him before, shaking his mane (for it had apparently grown again) stood Aslan himself.
"...when a willing victim who had committed no treachery was killed in a traitor's stead, the Table would crack and Death itself would start working backwards."
