The closest I have come to seeing old forum culture on new platforms is in some Discord servers, actually. But those are very much a grab bag, depending on the preferences of each server's founders and moderating team.
But yeah... while I'm pretty new to NarniaWeb I do have a great deal of nostalgia for forums back in the day. I have a lot of memories from large fan forums for singers, and later from what was basically a book and writing club founded by a family friend. And then of course my time with The Lion's Call, which is also pretty quiet these days... so many former faithful members who dropped off over time. Sometimes I wonder where they all are.
... NarniaWeb is such a foundational part of my life so that I really miss its more active days.
Ah well, at least it's still up and running (thank you, Tirian, fantasia, Rose, Glumpuddle). It always feels like a second home here.

Hope you're doing well, cep, and a huge HELLO to ramagut too!

Agreed. I pop in every now and then when I remember, and I'm always so sad to see it so empty. Those early months right after the site started,
I think I would happily sever all ties with the social media world in exchange for the old days A long delay in response, @jo, but we are doing well.
@shawna Exactly. I pop in when I remember. It is like an old friend like I somehow feel like I have neglected far too much.
Update for those interested ~ changed my job in my profile to Church Janitor. It is a lovely change of pace working mostly by myself. It includes performing some maintenance like painting and simple repairs. No more getting up at 2:30 a.m. Working as a flight medic for almost 20 years wore me out.
“Safe?” said Mr. Beaver; “don’t you hear what Mrs. Beaver tells you? Who said anything about safe? ‘Course he isn’t safe. But he’s good. He’s the King, I tell you.”

Indeed, hear-hear!
Glad to hear you and ramagut are doing well. And, wow, what a change in vocation! Thank you for your dedicated service all those twenty years as a flight medic. I can hardly imagine all you experienced—no doubt much trauma. But no doubt you made difference after difference too.
Church janitor sounds like such a change of pace, yes. All the best with that, and serving your church family in this very important way.
I always love it when you pop in to the Town Square, cep! It does tug at the heart strings for the old days, to be sure.

I also peek in every now and then, these forums still feel as welcoming as when I joined.
It is a good rule after reading a new book, never to allow yourself another new one till you have read an old one in between.
