I had no combat skills to offer, so I faded into the background and watched everyone else. I guess it was for that reason that I was the first to notice the gentle chiming noise that begin to fill the room. Or maybe it was some weird Author instinct. Anyway, it grew louder until the others began to notice it and then there was a minor eruption of leaves and flowers. As they fell to the ground, a female form that looked remarkably similar to Anne Hathaway appeared in the aftermath.
"Okay, which one of you is Natalie or Nahum or whatever the name is?" Sylvia Riversong demanded in her usual tone that hinted at a temper tantrum just barely held back.
"Um, I'm Nathanael," I said, raising my hand and feeling greater trepidation than I had when meeting Drake. Sylvia was a bit ... unstable after all.
"We need to talk," the nature goddess said, stalking toward me. She roughly grabbed me by the arm and drug me off toward a quiet corner.
"Hey, I need that arm!" I snapped finally and jerked it away. Sylvia turned to glare at me and seemed to gain at least a foot in height. I huffed out an irritated sigh and said," Please, Sylvia, spare me the theatrics. If you're going to smite me, get it over with."
"I wasn't going to smite you. Whatever would make you think that? Listen, Drake said you're an Author, his Author specifically. So I figured that made it likely you're mine as well. Anyway, if I help you and your little merry band of misfits, will you write a few things for me?"
"You're a goddess, what could you possibly want that you can't make yourself?"
"I want a boyfriend. I don't care what species, just as long as he's cute and doesn't drool or mouth breath."
"You want a ... boyfriend? Am I hearing you right?"
"Do I need to make you a diagram? Cordelia's gotten all lovey-dovey lately for like the first time since she broke it off with Xon and I'm jealous. I want eye candy to show off too."
"Um, sure. I guess I can get right on that when we get back to Earth," I replied. Could this conversation get any weirder? I thought.
"Good, okay whatever. Let me know whatever you dweebs want and I'll get on it."
I started in surprise when Sylvia showed up out of nowhere. I brushed the leaves and flowers from my hair and clothes, and watched with interest as Sylvia spoke to Booky. I hurried over at the end of her negotiating and smiled hesitantly.
"Could you somehow teleport us back to Ditto Town when we're ready?" I asked hopefully.
----
"She came from the fountain," Harry said quickly. "I saw it with my own two eyes! I swear!"
"What is going on here?" A deep female voice sounded from behind Lt. Lee. A black-clad woman stepped forward on impossibly high heeled boots. She looked down at the girl in front of her impassively.
"I don't think this is the girl the Captain was looking for," she said finally. "He said a slight girl with big eyes and brown hair who would possibly come from the Fountain. She'd be married by now too, so she'd have a wedding ring. Also, he wanted that Jedi girl, Maria somebody? Somehow I don't think this girl is a Jedi or married with brown hair." She glared darkly at Hank and Harry.
"You are incompetent as you are stupid," she concluded scathingly.
P.S."Brooklyn!"
"I'm not... But Scrappy here is... And apperantly he's programed not to hate anyone..." I said with a huge grin "Only very strongly dislike" I continued sarcasticly.
If you ain't first, you're last.
Lee crossed his arms and scowled at the group as a whole. "Exactly." He circled the group, sizing all of them up.
"So." He addressed Harry, staring him in the eye. "What do you suggest we do with this girl?" The lieutenant did not think that Harry would have a good answer. In fact, he was almost positive that he would not. He was simply baiting--toying with the ridiculously incompetent henchman.
"Maybe we could hold her in case--" Hank ventured.
Lee wheeled on Hank. "Did I ask you? No." The tension around Jamison Lee fairly crackled.
------
I was extremely surprised when Sylvia suddenly appeared and demanded a boyfriend. Sheesh! Talk about things to ask about! "Yes, could you?" I echoed Ryan.
"Let the music cast its spell,
give the atmosphere a chance.
Simply follow where I lead;
let me teach you how to dance."
"We, uh, could . . . let her go?" Harry suggested, his left eye twitching.
"But now she knows too much," the woman said, studying her long, sharp fingernails. "We can't simply let her go."
"Uhh, then we kill her!" Harry concluded, pleased to have caught on to the Lt.'s meaning.
"Not exactly, my dear bumbling idiot. If we kill her without the Captain's permission, and he found out, he would not be very pleased. Perhaps this child knows something. She is strangely dressed and her accent is unfamiliar. You say she came from the Fountain. Perhaps her world has the object the Captain is searching for." She glanced sidelong at Jamison.
"I say we take her to the holding deck and inform the Captain of her presence. Let him take care of it. We have bigger fish to catch."
P.S."Brooklyn!"
"Why do we always have to tell the captain?" Jamison demanded. "If this is such a small fish, why can't we handle it by ourselves?" His scowl deepened. "Besides. He's busy searching after the object." His words fairly dripped with sarcasm.
Hank glanced from one to the other of the lieutenants. "What do you want us to do, then?" He asked hesitantly.
"Let the music cast its spell,
give the atmosphere a chance.
Simply follow where I lead;
let me teach you how to dance."
The sudden eruption of flowers in the dinning area was rather strange, but then again everything today had been strange, so.... I was more amused than anything when I overheard that the goddess-who-looked-like-Anne Hathaway would help us if she got a boyfriend.
I couldn't help but chuckle at the utter silliness of the request. Interesting girl you created Booky....

^ Short tribute to James Horner (1953-2015)
I woke up as usual in my bed. It was a bright clear morning, like most were, the sun shining in through my windows and birds chirping out side. After eating some breakfast and feeding our pets I sat down at my computer for a few minutes before doing school. Pressing the button, I noted that took longer than usual to start. I thought this slightly unusual since my machine was quite new and not normally slow. I waited, clicking my fingers impatiently on the end table it sat on. I wanted it to hurry so I cold go onto Narniaweb, and check my Rp's and PM's. Finally the windows log in screen appeared and welcomed me into my computer. It was a pleasant sight after becoming frustrated after having to wait five minutes for it to appear. As my desktop slowly appeared I was perplexed to see that my normal Prince Caspian wallpaper had disappeared and was replaced with a swirling pink and purple mass. Gasping from fright as it began to swirl faster; I tried to jump away from the screen, but was instead sucked inward, into my screen. I tried to cry out but found my voice had left me. It was all a confusion and I pinched my eyes shut feeling almost like crying. When I finally stopped moving and was still, I peeked open my eyes, seeing myself in a room, a mass of cords and cables around me. It reminded me of the inside of my computer, but I tried not to think of that cause that thought was crazy. No one could get sucked into a computer...right? Standing up, I brushed myself off and trembled a little, approaching a door with light spilling from its key hole and cracks. Placing my hand on it, I yanked it open and was blinded for a second by the light that invaded my eyes. I stumbled forward and fell onto me knees, trying to shake the blurriness from my vision. When they cleared and I looked up, a gasp of surprise and wonderment escaped my lips. What is this place? I thought, a tight feeling clenching inside. It was excitement fear, and anxiety rolled into one mass. Men were all around, clad in dark armor and carrying weapons and things. I backed away a little, feeling for the knob of the door behind me. When I only grabbed air I turned to see to my horror it was gone. No! That was my only way to get back? What about my Family...and friends? I frantically pondered, then spun back to the scene before me.
A large star ship hung in the hair, and my eyes widened. I instantly thought of movies I had watched back home. It looked so much like something from those. Gulping, I bit my lip not knowing what to expect next. I dearly hoped the men would go one and not notice me, but there were so many, and I must have looked horribly out of place with my worn jeans and T-shirt. A fountain squirting water in the center of the plaza was my only welcome sight.

The Will. Never heard that one before. How many deities/mystical forces are there here? I was interrupted by an eruption of flowers. That character seemed familiar, but I couldn't remember her name. I turned back to Evory. "Well, I thought only a couple people knew. Unless everyone who knew somehow ended up here at this particular time, that's still more than I imagined."

But I am a cat, and no cat anywhere ever gave anyone a straight answer
I stared at the woman's heels. I tripped when I wore a 1 inch heel, how in the world did she manage those things? She stared at me, but I didn't stare back. I did not want to cross anyone else. When the woman described the person the Captain was looking for, I breathed a sigh of relief. Hank and Harry were just bringing people in; I wasn't wanted.
I listened as the woman and Lieutenant talked down to Hank and Harry. Now I really felt sorry for them. I wouldn't want to be talked to that way, and they were trying so hard to please.
I looked up hopefully when Hank suggested letting me go. I had always wanted an adventure, and I finally had gotten one. But I was ready for it to be done.
I held my breath when Harry suggested killing me, but was not at all comforted when the woman said to leave me to the Captain.
I listened as the Lieutenant and the woman argued. Were they in some sort of power struggle, or did they just not like each other?
I held my breath once again as Hank asked what to do. I would much rather be dragged around by them then meet this Captain. I couldn't imagine what the Captain was looking for, or why a girl from Earth could be so important.
Valentina sighed. "Just take her to the holding cells below until the Captain tells us to do something with her," she told Hank and Harry. Turning to Jamison, she narrowed her eyes slightly. "We'll go tell the Captain what's happening."
She glanced sidelong at Susie, her lip curling slightly in distaste. "She doesn't look like much. But perhaps the Captain will let us have some fun later."
P.S."Brooklyn!"
"Teleportation? What do I look like, a blooming taxi?" Sylvia scoffed.
"Boyfriend," I reminded her.
"Fine. Whatever. I'll teleport you back to Ditto Town. IF there's a Ditto Town left. Giant spaceship was hanging over it when I left. If I'm not mistaken, they'd just kidnapped a kid that wandered out of the Fountain.
"And you didn't think to stop them? Sylvia, that's low, even for you."
"Seriously, I like you mortals and all, but I'd never seen her before. Maybe she likes being kidnapped. I've heard of that sort of thing. You mortals are pretty weird after all."
I smiled at Sylvia in appreciation, even though she was only helping us because then Booky would give her a boyfriend.
"I'm only one person." Evory stated firmly. "We are apparently going to leave." She noted.
------
Hank saluted crisply. "Yes ma'am. Right away." He grabbed Susie by the arm again, firmly, helping her up. "Let's go, little lady."
Jamison sensed that Valentina's discreet refusal to answer his question was a hint to just drop the subject. He took it, swallowing his pride for a few moments. It wasn't generally healthy to argue about doing things with the Captain's approval, and he had slipped up in letting his frustrations out in public.
"Agreed." Jamison spun on his heel and strode down the hallway towards the Captain's cabin.
Once the two were out of sight and hearing of the others, he spoke up again. "What kind of fun?" He asked his fellow lieutenant.
"Let the music cast its spell,
give the atmosphere a chance.
Simply follow where I lead;
let me teach you how to dance."
Valentina shrugged. "I was thinking fun with knives, though we could be creative and go with guns." She paused. "With the Captain's permission of course." There was just the barest hint of bitterness in her tone.
----
Harry helped Hank cart Susie off to the holding cells. "You're going to get cold down here, just so you know," he warned her in an almost kindly way. "But we won't be allowed to give you any blankets. I hope you're not cold-blooded."
-----
Another base soldier from Le Loup Noir's ship, a Twi'lek named Sameka, made her way all stealth-like through the town, thinking this made her invisible, despite the fact it was in the middle of the day. She stood up straight when she saw a girl by the Fountain, her large violet eyes growing larger as she realized the significance of this. Fumbling for her blaster, she held it out toward the girl and shouted, "Freeze!" at the top of her lungs, despite the fact the girl wasn't moving anywhere.
P.S."Brooklyn!"
"I don't even think we have any blankets in this part of the ship..." Hank mused. "Sorry. You don't happen to have some kind of magic warming power, do you? No?"
They arrived in the dark belly of the ship, and Hank pressed his hand on the sensor pad so that they'd be allowed through. This was one of the few areas that he had access to. Figured.
-------
"Yes, with the Captain's permission." Jamison echoed. They walked in silence for a few minutes. "I should not have spoken out earlier. That was..." He almost choked on the word, "Stupid of me."
-------
A middle-aged man popped out from behind a bush. He'd been clearly visible to all who looked in his direction, but apparently he thought that hiding his torso behind the bush made him invisible in much the same way that Sameka's stealthiness made her invisible.
"You can't freeze right now! Duh, it's not winter." The man, Claric, said with a hearty chuckle. "That's funny." He pulled out his blaster, not realizing the significance of the girl next to the fountain but merely following what Sameka was doing.
"Let the music cast its spell,
give the atmosphere a chance.
Simply follow where I lead;
let me teach you how to dance."
