Legends of Erandor
Alex took the slice of pie with a smile and then glanced at Elaina then back to Kye. "Will do and don't worry about the money. I have plenty on me for simply getting drinks." With a nod to the others, Alex headed for the nearest tavern to get three drinks for the ladies.
When Alex was out of earshot, Elaina turned to Kye, obviously flustered. "Kye! You really should not have done that... Do you REALLY think I like that... that... Grendel?"*

Legends of Erandor
((OOC: I'm exhausted and fried, but I wanted to put this post up since Ainsley was spoken to and I don't want the RP to pass me by. I'll work on posting in TJ and also putting up a post for Xeras whenever I get to it in the next few days.
I'm also pretty drained mentally, so let me know if anything in this post is amiss. I'll be sure to fix it.))
"You put it there, Ellion?" She held the flower between her fingertips. It had been so long since she'd had a tangible display of Ellion's affection. "Thank you... so much." He sat down behind her, and she smiled, holding her flower close. She was content to just sit there, taking in the sights, the sounds, and the smells.
Ainsley's initial reaction was to flush a deep red when Alex spoke to her. Thankfully Kye answered him for her, giving Ainsley a chance to regain her composure. When Alex requested gooseberry pie, she smiled. "Good. I was going to suggest that." She cast a sidelong glance at Ellion before making her next move. He may not like her doing this, but there were a lot of things Ellion didn't like. "What's your name, by the way?"
But he was already out of earshot. She hoped he'd return so proper introductions could be made.

Kye laughed. "He's not that bad, Elaina...He can be very sweet sometimes." She motioned toward him with her hand. "I mean, a Grendel would not offer to get and pay for drinks..."
"And if you don't like him, why are you getting so flustered and red?" She winked. "Your secret's safe with us, dear."

Ainsley smirked. " 'He can be very sweet sometimes'? Sounds like you're the one who likes him, Kye." She wiggled her eyebrows, reveling in the chance to tease her best friend.

Kye's eyes widened a fraction and she straightened. "That's ridiculous!" She laughed. "I've just known him for a while, that's all."
She smiled. "I have everything I need and want in Tristan." Her voice takes a dreamy tone and she finishes with, "Besides, I could never steal him away from Elaina...That would make me such a horrible friend!" She places her hand on her chest and casts a look at Elaina, masking a grin.

"Well... true..." Elaina finally let out with a sigh and gave Kye a weak smile. "You're right on all accounts. But don't tell him that. He's enough trouble as it is... can you imagine what it would be like if he knew?"
Elaina actually wanted Alex to know or more precisely to tell him the feeling was mutual, but at present she felt the blacksmith's son wasn't quite ready for it. Besides, it was fun sparing with the sometimes cocky huntsman.
"Ha. Ha. And of course you wouldn't dream of depriving me of Alex and allowing me a stab at Tristan..." Elaina gave a cheeky smile, knowing full well that Kye was teasing and returning the favor.
A few minutes later Alex returned with the drinks. "Three drinks for three of the finest young ladies Erivale has gifted Erandor with... er, two from Erivale and one from Wescraven." he said as he handed out the frothy beverages.

"The name's Torin, may I ask yours?" he said, twirling Aedra to start the dance, all the while repeating the steps in his mind. One, two, three, four. Left, right, left, right and back and... "Are you new in town? For I'm sure that I would have noticed your gorgeous face" and then Torin capped off the line with a killer smile.
Now, that was a little bit of win.

"Mmhmm." Ainsley crossed her arms with a smug grin. "Somehow I'm not convinced." She added a wink at the end of her sentence. "Anyway, I'm single. Perfectly, contentedly, and happily single..." Her voice trailed off. "Um, hi, Alex." Thanks to Kye and Elaina, she was no longer in the shadows about this stranger's name. She took the beverage from him and took a sip. "Thanks. That tastes really good."

Kye smiled. "Tristan is quite a catch."
She took the drink from Alex and said, "Thank you." Taking a sip, she follows with, "Mmm, this is delicious."

"Aedradeva Tain." Aedra said, twirling back into his arms. She grinned. "I'm from Wescraven, actually. Tain Manor specifically."
"My older brother is Xeras Tain. I'm sure you've heard of him. Everyone has. Women 12 counties away already have their marriage to him all planned out." Aedra laughed.

Legends of Erandor
Ellion was quite contented to sit quietly and eat Kye's delicious pie. She always made the best, and though he got to enjoy them at other times during the year, this fact did not make them any less tasty now. He heard his sister's murmur of thanks and simply looked at the back of her head, eyes shifting about until they came again to land on the plate that was balanced on his palm. His fingers deftly picked up the fork and prepared to cut and scoop another bite; until he heard Alex's distinct voice. He halted, mid-lift of the utensil to his lips, and eyed the slightly older man fixedly while he talked with the ladies. It was petty conversation mostly, but he still listened and then was satisfied when Alex meandered away to retrieve some drinks.
Ellion went on eating, ignoring the banter between Elaina and Kye, but once again was destined to be interrupted. Ainsley's talk about being single, and happy so, mingled with Alex's flattery as he returned and a mental image of Alex as his brother-in-law raced through his mind. With a guttural choke, Ellion abruptly stood and violently began coughing, recovering from both his unnatural swallowing of the pie and that horrible, and frankly far-fetched, idea.

"Greetings, Ainsley." Alex said with a friendly smile. Hard to believe she is related to Ellion... maybe there was a mix-up at birth or something. the huntsman thought with a chuckle before Ellion's coughing and hacking interrupted everything.
"Oy! Ellion, you alright over there?" He may still be an enemy to Alex, but being beaten by a slice of pie was NOT the way he wanted Ellion to go.

In response to this post
"Terence Rowland!" Shay wrinkled her nose. "You shouldn't joke around like that. People take you seriously, and it could end badly because of it. Like what if we had gotten lost on the way to the Capitol, for instance?" She shot him one more fierce glare as he turned her horse in the right direction, then snatched the reins back. "I can direct my own horse, thank you very much."
"Oh yeah, yeah, thanks." Bitter sarcasm colored her tone. "Thanks for the compliment. For the record, you smell far worse than I do."
As they kept riding, she discreetly smelled herself and nearly fell off her horse from the stench.

Ainsley opened her mouth to say something in response to Alex, but stopped short when she heard Ellion hacking behind her. His mouthful of pie was clearly giving him trouble. She turned around, her eyes wide in alarm. "Ellion! Are you okay?" When it became clear that he was not okay, she stood up and began to pound him on the back with a ferocity that no one would expect, given her petite and willowy figure.

Xeras smiled. "Well, then. Pie it shall be."
He settled back as the carriage swayed, content to sit and enjoy Jade's company in silence. The carriage ride was over in short order, and soon they pulled up in front of the Festival.

"Calm down, sweetheart. We wouldn't have gotten lost. I just wanted to see how good you were at obeying." Terence chuckled. "Apparently, very good."
He knew he smelled bad and he gave a nod. "It's a good thing the horse doesn't mind..." He sighed. "I guess this means no cuddling tonight, either...I was looking forward to it. I even only bought two blankets for all three of us..."

Kye started when Ellion started coughing. However, she let Ainsley deal with her brother.

Ellion heard Alex's question but he was in no condition to answer it. Ainsley voice then cut in, touching his ears, and she gave him several sturdy slaps to his back. Her pounding dislodged whatever had become stuck and with a sharp intake of breath he reached up and caught her wrist, blue eyes looking almost pleadingly at her. "Thanks, Ainsley." he managed with a slight wheeze, sitting up through haggard breathing.
It was a moment before he regained himself, standing up to his proper height once again, but afterward he turned to Alex, "I am alright...now." Ellion said, calmly, any snarl absent, irises glittering cold, hard, sapphire.

Jade stepped from the carriage, her hand resting upon Xeras' muscled arm and then slipping through it once her feet touched cool cobblestone. A sense of innocent joy filled her as the sights and sounds of the festival met them. Music wafted upon beautiful wings to p***k their ears, and in her heart a fiery desire for dancing was kindled. In the distance calls from vendors echoed, laughter tinkled through alleys and courtyards, and merriment in general was being made. Flashing colors, every shade of the rainbow, twirled and tossed in tandem with the minstrels tunes, and Jade felt herself fairly overcome with exhilaration.
She was well aware that it was many women's dreams to be where she now stood - holding to Xeras Tain's arm and preparing to delve into the Erivale Festival - and for this reason she was not going to waste a minute of it. Olive green eyes swerved up to Xeras' and, looking like such, Jade waited for him to lead them both in.

"Ah, well... glad you're fine. Had us worried for a moment there." Alex replied before taking a bite of pie. After washing the pie down with a bit of drink, he turned his attention to Ainsley.
"That was a rather strong whack you gave your brother. Never thought you had it in you. I'll need to be on my best behavior now..." Alex said with a playful smile and a nudge to Elaina.
The only response the herbalist gave was a quick "be careful..." glance... followed by a swift punch to the young mans arm.
