The woman scowled and yanked her arm away, glaring at the nail-marks as she rubbed them tenderly. Without looking up from them, she said "Jay, enough of this, girl! You're fiance is waiting in their, and you know we had a deal."
Jinna studied the woman and finally said "This is not 'Jay', whoever she is. This is Elle. And she only came here because she is trying to help me. I am the one that knocked on your door, not Elle. And I came to talk to you about my daughter, Gracie, who went missing many years ago..."
The woman looked up from her arm with an expression of surprise mingled with wonder. For the moment, all harshness was off of her face. "Well, lookee here...small wonder." She motioned towards the door to her house. "Step inside and we can talk about your daughter...Gracie Johnson, is it?"
Jinna looked dazed. "Uh, well...maybe. Maybe so. I'm not sure." She turned to Elle, eyebrows raised, silently asking her "Are you alright with coming in with me? You don't have to."

Elle stared in disbelief at the woman. "I don't have a fiance!"
She looked at Jinna and walked toward her. "I will come."

Jinna followed the woman inside, a bit nervous and very glad that Elle was coming with her. The woman motioned for them to sit down on a dusty, torn couch and Jinna delicately complied. When the woman offered them something to drink, however, Jinna politely refused; after all, she was not sure if she could trust this woman. Who knew what she might slip into a cup of tea or water?
"Can we please get onto business?" Jinna asked after several minutes passed and the woman only studied Elle. the woman jumped as though taken off guard, then nodded. "Sure. It's just that..." Her gaze hardened and she glared at Elle. "You sure you ain't Jay?" Then something clicked in her mind and she stood up in anger and rage. "Jayellia...I knew it!! You are Jay! So, instead of Jay, you go by Elle now, do you??" The woman walked briskly over to Elle and gave her a shake. Jinna hurried over but was helpless to stop the woman from attempting to drag Elle into a back room.

"No." Shay frowned, folding her arms. "I said I'm coming, so I'm coming. It's that simple. I'm going because I've always wanted to see the capital, and do more than just sweep floors." She shrugged. "I'm just not sure what awaits me over there, so excuse me if I'm a little apprehensive."

Adrian had found just what he was looking for: A ship with three empty berths to travel on to Negara, though they only needed two of them. He'd offered to work to pay for his passage, but the captain was kind and sympathetic to another sailor and that sailor's friend.
With a stout warning from the captain that the ship meant to sail with the tide in the evening, Adrian raced back to the shipyard and found Terence. "Terence, I've got it. Passage for both of us." He smiled. "We could even bring another if we liked-- there are three empty berths."

"You're a little late." Cecily said to Adrian, smiling. "My brother was already planning on bringing a third. Miss O'Teale will be accompanying you as well, apparently."
Terence nodded to Adrian, "Shay will be coming with us. She wants to seek out possible jobs and she has agreed to come."
Cecily began cleaning up. "I hope you find Aeryn in good health and unharmed. It would be such a shame if she were found otherwise..." Cecily frowned.

Elle's eyes widened and before she could react, she was practically lifted off her feet. "I've always gone by Elle!" She yelled as she pushed away from the woman. As soon as she was free, she sprinted toward the other side of the room, knocking over a stool, looking very much like a cornered animal. However, she didn't leave without Jinna.

Jinna watched the action as the woman tried to drag Elle and Elle escaped. At last she could take it no longer. She walked over to the woman with confident steps and said, calmly, but with a definite seriousness in her voice "We will have no more of this. Elle is not this Jayellia, whoever she is. You are quite mistaken. I hope that you find Jayellia soon. Also, if you have anything to tell me about Gracie, that would be greatly appreciated. However, if you have nothing more to say to us, we will be leaving."
She watched the woman for a moment; at last, she sighed and sank down on the sofa. "Alright, I'll tell you what I can about your little girl. But first, I want to say something to Jay- Elle- whoever you are." The woman fixed her gaze on Elle and said seriously "I will not force you to marry, but if you do not, I know you will regret it. He loves you and you love him. You are engaged to him. He is expecting us to come with him to your wedding, daughter. Pleas don't disappoint him...and me..."
For a moment the women just stared sadly at Elle.

Elle stared at the old woman, her face confused. She touched the side of her head and leaned against the wall, grasping a fist-full of her hair. For a few moments, she was silent as she thought to herself.
"Jayellia was my mother..."

The woman studied Elle again then shrugged. "Listen, I have to tell you both something...Gracie and her father were here. I think he called her 'Gracilee'. Anyway, he said he was going into hiding. He said he had to. He said he had done nothing like stealing when I asked him, so I let him stay." The woman made her way to a cabinet and yanked on the handle until it finally opened. After digging through papers for several minutes, she straightened and walked over to Jinna, where she unceremoniously dumped a piece of paper into her lap. "He dropped that one night when he ran off. I don't know why he ran. I called to him, but it was raining and he was too far away. I chased him but lost him, and I brought this back here in case he came back for it. He never did."
Jinna studied the water-smeared ink. After a moment, she looked up at the woman. "This is an address. This is where I can find my Gracie."

"Excellent," replied the wolf. "We've been needing someone who hath ze technical skills. And Dotty anyone who can defend themselves will be of great help. Benciark do we have a copy of ze map?"
"Hmmm..." Benciark, along with being an excellent spy was also the master librarian. He flew into the next room and the sound of papers being shuffled and cabinents opening could be heard from the next room. At last he emerged from the doorway walking along the ground and dragging a large scroll with his beak. Undoubtedly this was because it was too big for him to fly with.
"Here it is," he said and Wolf picked it up and unscrolled it along the table. He returned to his perch on his shoulder and began to explain some of the features he knew of... "That is the chemical storage room," he said pointing to one of the larger open spaces, "it includes multiple large pools of substances that have been left in the open as well as a few kept in storage contaniers and refrigerators. And that is the main computer room," her he pointed to the upper right corner in the lower level. "It contains the circuit breakers that give the main power to the lab, but the back up generators are in the basement... And this room I'm afraid I can confirm nothing, but there are many reports of strange noises coming from there." The final room he pointed too was the only on the highest level. Essentially it was at the top of a tower that lay right next too the chemical storage room on the east. He turned to Vertex, "I hope this is helpful, if it isn't I could try to fly over to get a look, but we may bot have time..."

"No, my bags aren't packed; I just found out I was going a few minutes ago. I'm going to leave after I finish lunch, which would probably be now." Shay stood up and brushed some crumbs off her pants. "But first, I have to ask - when do we leave?"

Return of the Fountain Fellowship
Grace looked up in surprise and a little fear at him and found that she was able to stop trembling. "You found me." She said, unable to think of anything else.
David was a few doors down on the other side of the hallway when Ace called for him to come, that he'd found Grace. He sprinted down the hallway and skidded to a stop outside the room. He had no reservations about getting right in there and taking her gently by the shoulders. "Have you been in here this whole time? Grace, there are guys here that are no good. They'd exploit you."
"I know." Grace murmured, suddenly feeling tired as she broke eye contact with Ace.
Ace tried to give her a smile and nodded, as David came into the room, moving instantly to her side and scolding her in his brotherly fashion. He watched them, saw how Grace seemed to be drained, tired. He wanted to apologize to her for getting so worked up and upsetting her, but felt that now might not be the right time.
He cleared his throat, "Do you have someplace in the city to stay?" He asked, not sure if David would know, and so addressing the question to her. He wasn't sure either, if the military had given her temporary quarters here in the medical facilities.

Aeryn listened to Jean's footsteps fade, then stumbled back into her dim cell, and fall onto a bench built into the side of ship. She swallowed, pressing her hand into her head, feeling a headache slowly start to come on. The heat, and the stress of the day was beginning to weigh heavily upon her. She gritted her teeth, and wished for a moment that none of this trouble had ever befallen her. Part of her was a bit angry, at the officials of her town since they knew her family was noble. How could they think she had willingly committed treason? Another part of her was still very afraid....
But there has to be a reason for all of this. I must watch what I feel... she thought as she laid over onto the course wood for a bit of rest.

ean listened to her tell of her parents and then, unexpectedly, he felt a wall go up between them. What happened? It couldn't have been just talking about her parents. If that was true, she wouldn't have mentioned them in the first place.
Maybe she'd remembered something else. He stood near the door from a moment and shifted his weight from foot to foot. "I'll be going now. I'll check on you every once in a while. The captain'll probably try to keep me busy, but I won't let that stop me." With one last (hesitant) smile, Jean turned and made his way up to the top of the ship.
Out upon deck, evening was setting in quickly. Captain Seranoy was at the helm, his pride no less bruised and his angry mood no less in strength. The navigator had his course set, and the ship was smoothly gliding in the water, set upon it's far away destination. The crew, after their merry break for a late lunch, were back upon deck, climbing the rigging and tending to their many duties. The first mate was about, barking his harsh orders and spilling insults upon the few lazy men.
When Jean arrived back on the deck the wind was whipping about and on the air his name was called. Leaning down over the p**p deck rail was the lead Gunner, James. He grinned down and came down the stairs, coming over and slapping a large hand onto Jean's back. He was one of the few men that had actually taken a liking to Jean, and openly displayed it. "That was good food, wasn't it." James said with a hearty laugh, glancing over at the younger man's expression. "You look a little melancholy lad." he leaned in closer. "You wouldn't know anything about the captains foul mood would you? I heard the first mate whispering that you disappeared about the time that Capt' Seranoy went to visit the young lady. He came back up none too happy..."

Jean looked up at James as he came over. "Yep, I was playing the hero again." A smile quirked at the edges of his mouth. "The captain thinks he can do anything he wants." He gave a sigh, betraying his fatigue, "I taught him that he couldn't." He looked at James seriously. "I'm not letting him touch that girl."
