What would Aravis wear?
Well, in her home and at Lasaraleen's palace, I'd say she'd wear some sort of sari, though nothing too suggestive of one culture. No veils; they look too Muslim to the casual viewer. Something like this:
Then she'd wear her brother's armour. I always pictured it as being sort of gold-coloured and scaly, light armour.
Then a beggar's outfit--torn oversized pants and a ragged tunic stolen from some local village.
And lastly, a real Narnian dress, I'd like to see her in something bright coloured, maybe yellow against her dark skin, and something in the style of Susan and Lucy's dresses of LWW/PC.
Ooh, that's a really pretty dress, Christ Proclamer! Great ideas, too.

Yes,it's nice dress*
I think aravis wears a dress like Susan and Lucy in LWW/PC when she is in Anvard, too!
She WOULD wear first something like that and later she would wear Narnian dress like Susan and Lucy's. Maybe she would, but we don't know when they'll film HHB. Hey, maybe it'll be next! Hah.
Lucy:Do you remember who really defeated the White Witch?
Peter: Yes.
Susan:No.
Lucy:Do you both believe in Narnia?
Narnians, Caspian and Edmund:We believe.
Susan and Peter:Shut up.
When creating the clothes for the Calormens you have to be careful. Over the years C.S. Lewis has gotten a lot of criticism for being racist because of the clothes and skin color of his supposed "evil people". Experts know that these claims are simply bad analysis, but not everyone will understand that, clothing designs should be as original as possible. Ideas should be taken from a variety of cultures in order to find that balance of the right look and being politically correct.

I was recently thinking that Aravis would look good in a patiala salwar.http://ladiesfashionclothes.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/Khajoor-Salwar-Dress-Patiala-Salwar-Party-Salwar-Kameez.jpg when in Tashbaan with Lasaraleen.

Lu_valient, I can really see her in one of those.
I thought maybe for shoes she'd wear slippers made out of a sort of transparent material with lots of glittery decorations on them. kind of like these shoes, but with the front and back being transparent too, and maybe in a different color.

Dernhelm_of_Rohan, He does! I think someone should wear those in the movie.

Aren't they cool? Though I do think they might be a little too embroidered for Aravis... Maybe Lasaraleen?
Does anyone have pics of pantaloons? If they're not too girly, maybe Aravis would wear them for riding under her armor (which she can't wear all the time).
Dernhelm_of_Rohan, they are! They would be really good for Lasaraleen. http://ladiesfashionclothes.com/wp-cont ... Kameez.jpg

Ooh, pretty! But I think even at home Aravis would wear more subdued colors, if not outright rough clothes. Something like this, just with no embroidery. &imgrefurl= http://www.e-mosaik.com/moroccan-caftans.aspx&usg=__QqP05azEMddBZnOUvYTsU2sK5XE=&h=250&w=179&sz=64&hl=en&start=94&sig2=fIXqEH9ZtX9ZJzKcARXK0Q&zoom=1&tbnid=pXxjylAYdpDhPM:&tbnh=147&tbnw=96&ei=D80bTpzBJdOSgQev3rHpCQ&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dmoroccan%2Bclothing%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dsafari%26sa%3DX%26biw%3D981%26bih%3D661%26tbm%3Disch&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=351&vpy=3337&dur=7164&hovh=200&hovw=143&tx=67&ty=226&page=7&ndsp=15&ved=1t94&biw=981&bih=66 1"> http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=htt ... 81&bih=661
Again, sorry for the long link, lol. Can anyone tell me how to shorten them?
I based my Aravis Tarkheena costume on the Pauline Baynes illustrations, and also on the ones by Dawn D. Davidson found on The Lion's Call.
Here is my costume:
The Aslan plooshie is not the official one- I bought a plush lion at Toys R Us, then added a Star of David bought at a jewelry store.
